  • Patent number: 11419091
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) enhances positioning performance using Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) New Radio (NR)-Dual connectivity (EN-DC) based on an indication from the E-UTRAN base station that it is capable of EN-DC, e.g., in the upper layer indication of SIB2. When in idle mode, a UE that supports EN-DC and that has multiple carrier subscriptions may check the availability of EN-DC on both subscriptions that are camped on E-UTRAN base stations and use the subscription with EN-DC when a positioning session is initiated, e.g., from an emergency call. If one subscription is camped on a E-UTRAN base station and the other on an NR base station, the UE may use the E-UTRAN base station if EN-DC is supported or may use the NR base station if EONR and location based services are supported.

  • Patent number: 11399259
Abstract: Controlled-environment facility contraband wireless communication device detection uses one or more controlled-environment facility communication and/or media devices that each include a radio frequency detection mechanism configured to detect presence of electromagnetic energy emissions in one or more frequency bands reserved for wireless communication by wireless communication devices. Each controlled-environment facility communication and/or media device reports detection of the presence of electromagnetic energy emissions in one or more frequency bands reserved for wireless communication by wireless communication devices to an investigative data aggregation and analysis system. The location of the reporting device(s) and/or signal strength of the emission(s) may be used by the investigative data aggregation and analysis system to determine a location, within the controlled-environment facility, of a contraband wireless communication device emitting the electromagnetic energy emissions.

  • Patent number: 11394820
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for analyzing an incoming telephonic event (e.g., call, message, and/or notification) to a mobile device during operation of a vehicle in relation to a combination of factors to determine if the incoming telephonic event is to be allowed to be received during vehicle operation. The mobile device may receive the incoming telephonic event during operation of the vehicle. An incoming telephonic event analysis application operating on the mobile device may apply a soft block preventing the incoming telephonic event from being displayed on the mobile device. Based on the incoming telephonic event data, vehicle operational data, user preferences, hands-free device activation, and driver and road ratings, the incoming telephonic event analysis application may determine whether or not to maintain the soft block or allow the incoming telephonic event to be displayed on the mobile device during operation of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11381962
Abstract: A device detection system is configured to determine whether a device is located within a venue. The device detection system provides user identifiers associated with a device to an anonymization server. The anonymization server provides anonymous identifiers to the device detection system corresponding to the user identifiers. A content distribution system provides content items for a campaign associated with the venue to users. The content distribution system provides user identifiers to the anonymization server and receives anonymous identifiers from the anonymization server. The content distribution system provides the anonymous identifiers to the device detection system. The device detection system compares the sets of anonymous identifiers to identify users that received a content item and subsequently visited the venue.

  • Patent number: 11382106
Abstract: A wireless communication system may support two types of networks, such as a 4th-Generation (4G) network and a 5th-Generation (5G) network. The 4G network is accessed through Long-Term Evolution (LTE) base stations. The 5G network is accessed through New Radio (NR) base stations. An LTE base station can be configured to broadcast information regarding whether it supports Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA) Dual Connectivity in conjunction with an associated NR base station. When a communication device receives an indication that NSA Dual Connectivity is available, the communication device selects a decision value based on the frequency bands that would be used during an NSA session anchored by the LTE base station. The communication device then uses the decision value in combination with the current 4G signal strength to determine whether 5G communications are currently available and whether to display a 5G symbol on the status bar of the communication device.

  • Patent number: 11381679
Abstract: A method may include receiving an indication of a call from a caller who is not a participant in a sender-controlled media (SCM) platform to a recipient who is a participant, using caller ID information to gather content pertaining to the caller (e.g., from data stores of the platform and public number search information), generating a SCM data structure based on the gathered content, and delivering the SCM data structure to a call-originating device. In another aspect, a method may include gathering call context for an active call, and developing an understanding of one or more of a call intent, a call participant, and a participant action based on content exchanged between the caller and recipient. Content suggesting algorithms may then determine candidate items of content relevant to the participants of the call for presentation to at least one of the caller and the recipient during the call.

  • Patent number: 11368575
Abstract: Call originator feedback may be gathered from members of a call group for a call originator. This feedback may be stored in a contact firewall data structure indexed by call originator identification information, where a contact firewall function can intercept a call to a member of the group when the contact firewall data structure indicates that an action to impact the call should be taken. In another aspect, a method may include receiving an indication of no-answer by a recipient of a call, activating a sender-controlled media (SCM) content selection/generation interface on the caller's phone, and delivering the item of content to the recipient's call message storage system, where the item of content is linked to the missed call. For example, a SCM data structure, or a link to the SCM data structure, may be delivered to the recipient's call message storage system.

  • Patent number: 11337027
Abstract: A wireless mesh network comprises a controller and a plurality of wireless networked devices arranged to transmit messages to and receive messages from the controller. The plurality of devices are arranged in zones, such that a device that is arranged to communicate directly with the controller is designated a “Zone 1” device and a device that is arranged to communicate with the controller via a “Zone 1” device is designated a “Zone 2” device. One or more or each of the plurality of devices periodically sends a positioning message to the controller to determine its zone and if it can communicate directly with the controller it determines that it is a “Zone 1” device and if it cannot communicate directly with the controller, but it can communicate with the controller via a “Zone 1” device and therefore arranged to do so, it determines that it is a “Zone 2” device.
