Patent number: 4021000Abstract: An automatic capacitor winding machine has a retractable bifurcated arbor and vertically movable clamps to grasp the ends of the capacitor dielectric layers and carry those ends to a point below the retracted arbor. The bifurcated arbor is registered in its retracted state with its slot parallel to the dielectric layers. The arbor is then extended and grasps the dielectric layers between its tangs. The pressure grasping the dielectric layers is partially removed to allow the arbor to rotate and pull the dielectric layers from between the clamps. A stripper washer is provided to freely rotate on the arbor with limited movement parallel to the axis of the arbor and with a relatively small clearance between the washer's inside surface and the arbor's outside surface. Photoelectric means are provided to accurately detect the location of the first tab (terminal) to time the insertion of the other tabs. A reciprocating blade severs the dielectric layers after the capacitor is wound.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1975Date of Patent: May 3, 1977Assignee: Universal Manufacturing CorporationInventor: Armand A. Patent number: 4014367Abstract: An improved pipe cap comprises a cover and a U-shaped handle pivotally connected thereto. The handle includes a pair of rounded lugs which are adapted to engage an annular groove in the pipe end when the pipe cap handle is rotated toward its locking position. When the handle is rotated away from the locking position and towards the unlocking position, the lugs cooperate with the groove so as to cam the cover off of the pipe end. This novel camming action helps to overcome the resistance frequently associated with breaking the seal between a pipe end and a pipe cap.An alternate embodiment of the improved pipe cap is fitted with lugs having a pronounced flat on one side. The alternative cap is intended to fit on a pipe adapter having a flat locking rim instead of a groove. The rim includes two slots 180.degree. apart which are engagable by an appropriate wrench to thread the adapter onto a fill pipe. The lugs on the cap are located in such a manner that at most only one lug can fall into a slot.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1975Date of Patent: March 29, 1977Inventor: August Milo

Patent number: 4014527Abstract: This specification discloses a system and method for blending a dry chemical and a liquid. The system is comprised of a hopper for receiving and feeding the dry chemical into a pipe where it is transported by gas to a liquid weir and there mixed with the liquid. The hopper is adapted for having a positive pneumatic pressure applied at an upper location thereof and a negative pneumatic pressure applied at a lower location thereof to feed the dry chemical into a pipe. The dry chemical is then transported by gas through the pipe and directed from the downstream end of the pipe into the liquid weir. Patent number: 4013097Abstract: An apparatus useful in damming the flow of fluid through a pipeline is shown. The apparatus comprises an inflatable bladder encompassed within a flexible, expandable outer bag made of a rubber-like material. The bladder and bag are separated by an annular zone filled with a viscous fluid. The bladder is attached by means of an umbilical tube and suitable valving to a source of pressurized fluid. In use, the apparatus is positioned within a section of pipeline upon which repairs are to be made and the bladder is inflated forcing the outer bag, through the medium of the viscous liquid, to be forced into tight, sealing contact with the interior surfaces of the conduit in which the apparatus is positioned. The apparatus is inexpensive and portable and may be used to seal off sections of pipeline from larger systems without requiring extended or costly shutdowns.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1975Date of Patent: March 22, 1977Inventor: Anthony Louis Calandra

Patent number: 3988835Abstract: A marking device has a cylindrical housing journalled to an extended arm. The cylindrical housing has an outer peripheral surface whose circumference preferrably corresponds to a standard linear distance that is normally encountered in the building industry. The peripheral surface has at least one marking element extending radially from it so that as the cylindrical housing is rotated over a workpiece, the marking element leaves a mark on the workpiece that serves as a centerline measurement for the accurate alignment and placement of building components on the workpiece. The extended arm of the device includes a movable guide that may be extended radially beyond the peripheral surface of the cylindrical housing for guiding the marking device as it is moved along the workpiece or that may be retracted radially from its extension beyond the peripheral surface so that the marking device may be used on an extended planar surface without the guide interfering with the travel of the device over the planar surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1974Date of Patent: November 2, 1976Inventor: William Franklin Thornton
