Abstract: The present invention provides a positive-electrode active material powder, which comprises a granular material (A) capable of doping/dedoping lithium ions and a deposit (B) placed on the surface of the material in a granular or layered form (herein, the material (A) and the deposit (B) are not the same), the percentage of [volumetric sum of particles having a particle diameter of 1 ?m or less]/[volumetric sum of entire particles] being 5% or less.
Abstract: The invention relates to a two-step method for production of low temperature mechanically stable and electrically efficient nanoporous electrodes, in particular titania nanoporous electrodes, for photoelectrochemical applications. The method of the invention comprises electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of nanosize titania crystals from a stable suspension containing thereof on a conductive substrate, and formation of mechanical and electrical contact between them. The invention further relates to nanoporous electrodes obtained by this method and to dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) fabricated therefrom.

Abstract: A method for producing an oxide superconductor by partially melting and solidifying the precursor of the oxide superconductor is a method wherein the precursor is placed on a substrate material containing pure metal or a compound which is meltable in the precursor when the precursor is in a partially molten state, and partially melting and solidifying the precursor in said state.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a metal oxide paste composition comprising a carboxylic ester dispersant and/or a phosphate dispersant, and a method for manufacturing a semiconductor electrode for solar cells using the same. The disclosed metal oxide paste composition improves the dispersibility of metal oxide nanoparticles. Thus, if it is used to manufacture a semiconductor electrode for solar cells, it will allow the increased adsorption of a dye, thus improving the photoelectric efficiency of the resulting solar cell.

Abstract: A method is provided for producing a superconductive electrical conductor, in which a layer of an yttrium-barium-copper oxide (YBCO) is applied as a superconductive material onto a textured metal substrate, and is subjected to a heat treatment. In order to produce a wire-shaped conductor, a textured metal substrate, provided as a strip (2), is initially shaped in its longitudinal direction around an elongate metal support (1) with a circular cross section to form a slotted tube (3) having edges extending in the longitudinal direction and adjoining one another at a slot (4). The slotted tube (3) is next closed by welding the slot (4) shut, and the closed tube (9) is then contracted by pulling until it bears on the support (1). The layer (12) of superconductive YBCO material is thereupon applied all around, and the heat treatment is finally carried out.

Abstract: The invention concerns the gelatinization of viscous aqueous or hydroalcoholic liquid components, buffered or not, intended for the production of films for the manufacture of soft capsules. These compositions are notable in particular in that gelatinization thereof is obtained extemporaneously starting with thickening agents that exhibit the unique property of gelatinizing instantly upon contact with complexing solutions, the elasticity of the films being obtained by introducing or not introducing a plasticizing agent, decomposition thereof being controlled by incorporating or not incorporating a surfactant or a polysaccharide, and preservation thereof being ensured or not ensured by the addition of preservatives, thus allowing it to contain oily and/or aqueous solutions. The invention also concerns a method for manufacturing films for such capsules, which comprises gelatinization of said films by applying a complexing agent to the mass by spraying and/or by immersion.

Abstract: A composite material including a thermoplastic polymer matrix and a non-carbonaceous resistivity modifier dispersed in the thermoplastic polymer matrix. The composite material has a surface resistivity of about 1.0×104 ohm/sq to about 1.0×1011 ohm/sq and at least a portion of a surface of the composite material has a surface roughness (Ra) not greater than about 500 nm.
Abstract: A protective cage for footwear bladders is disclosed. The protective cage includes a cage base and a plurality of support members that extend outwardly from the cage base. The support members extend across the side wall of the bladder to protect the device from abrasion and to prevent fatigue. The use of the support members, which selectively bend and buckle under loaded conditions, control the amount of perimeter deflection of the bladder, while allowing for complete deflection at the center of the bladder.
Abstract: Described herein is a method and apparatus for transmission that provides the performance of space time spreading (STS) or orthogonal transmit diversity (OTD) and the backwards compatibility of phase sweep transmit diversity (PSTD) without degrading performance of either STS or PSTD using a symmetric sweep PSTD transmission architecture. In one embodiment, a pair of signals s1 and s2 are split into signals s1(a) and s1(b) and signals s2(a) and s2(b), respectively. Signal s1 comprises a first STS/OTD signal belonging to an STS/OTD pair, and signal s2 comprises a second STS/OTD signal belonging to the STS/OTD pair. Signals s1(b) and s2(b) are phase swept using a pair of phase sweep frequency signals that would cancel out any self induced interference. For example, the pair of phase sweep frequency signals utilize a same phase sweep frequency with one of the phase sweep frequency signals rotating in the opposite direction plus an offset of ? relative to the other phase sweep frequency signal.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided that can automatically facilitate busy line validation (BLV) and emergency interrupt (EI) services with the aid of various sensors and systems that can automatically determine the status of a given phone-line, and further provide a menu of services to a calling party. A calling party that encounters a busy signal during an attempt to call a called party can validate the status of the called line without the intervention of a human operator. If the called line is currently used for a voice conversation, as opposed to a modem or facsimile call, then the calling party can optionally interrupt the ongoing conversation with the permission of the called party.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling administration of Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) queues of an ACD or network of ACDs by a caller, and of communicating data to an ACD Agent. The caller receives information concerning the status of queues in one or a plurality of ACDs. If the caller wishes to communicate with a particular Agent, wait time for that Agent is provided to the caller. The caller can select a particular Agent, and will be connected when that Agent becomes available subject to other restrictions of the ACD queue. The caller can prepare information for transmission to an answering Agent while the caller waits. Advantageously, the caller can control which Agent or which sub-group of Agents should respond to his/her call, taking into account the different waiting times associated with a particular Agent or the first available Agent when the caller reaches the top of the queue.

Abstract: A processor includes execution resources, data storage, and an instruction sequencing unit, coupled to the execution resources and the data storage, that supplies instructions within the data storage to the execution resources. At least one of the execution resources, the data storage, and the instruction sequencing unit is implemented with a plurality of hardware partitions of like function for processing a respective one of a plurality of data streams. If an error is detected in a particular hardware partition, the data stream assigned to that hardware partition is reassigned to another of the plurality of hardware partitions, thus preventing an error in one of the hardware partitions from resulting in a catastrophic failure.

Abstract: A system for providing a backup network is disclosed that includes a glare detection circuit, an arbitration circuit, and a line control circuit. The glare detection circuit receives a dial signal associated with the call control circuit and a cause value from a backup circuit, and asserts a glare present signal responsive to the dial signal and the cause value being asserted. The arbitration circuit receives the glare present signal and produces an arbitration signal responsive to an arbitration procedure. The line control circuit receives the arbitration signal and determines whether the call control circuit will discontinue an outgoing call on the backup circuit and wait a specified period of time for an incoming call on the backup circuit or wait for the outgoing call on the backup circuit to be answered. Methods and other systems are also provided.
