Abstract: A threshold amplitude is calculated for each subband obtained by splitting an extension band. For each subband, an amplitude of transform coefficients is compared with the threshold amplitude to extract a transform coefficient having an amplitude larger than the threshold amplitude as a representative transform coefficient. When a number of the extracted representative transform coefficients is less than a predetermined number, the threshold amplitude is updated in accordance with an amount by which the number of the representative transform coefficients is less than the predetermined number. A transform coefficient is extracted again using the updated threshold amplitude. For each of the subbands, a value of correlation is calculated between the representative transform coefficient and a normalized core encoded low-band transform coefficient. A subband having a largest value of correlation is selected when the number of the extracted representative transform coefficients reaches the predetermined number.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes: a first acquisition unit that acquires, as a first mode, a security mode of a first execution process regarding a print preview application called from a first application; a second acquisition unit that acquires a security mode of a printer driver as a second mode, when a print preview is executed through the printer driver, based on a print preview instruction given in a second application; a determination unit that determines identity of security levels regarding both the modes of the first mode and the second mode; and an operation control unit that, when the security levels of both the modes are different from each other, activates a second execution process which is different from the first execution process and is an execution process of the print preview application, to execute the print preview.

Abstract: Using the ability to print according to a template, a recording device adds value to the printed output. A printer in a recording control system stores area definition data defining areas in each of a plurality of templates composed of one or more printing areas. When a control command is received from a host computer, the printer records images in areas of a template based on the area definition data of the areas in the specified template. To record images related to a particular product with the printer, the host computer gets product information related to the product, and generates and sends a control command to convert and record information related to a specific area in the template based on the product information.
