  • Patent number: 9378743
Abstract: In a class of embodiments, an audio encoding system (typically, a perceptual encoding system that is configured to generate a single (“unified”) bitstream that is compatible with (i.e., decodable by) a first decoder configured to decode audio data encoded in accordance with a first encoding protocol (e.g., the multichannel Dolby Digital Plus, or DD+, protocol) and a second decoder configured to decode audio data encoded in accordance with a second encoding protocol (e.g., the stereo AAC, HE AAC v1, or HE AAC v2 protocol). The unified bitstream can include both encoded data (e.g., bursts of data) decodable by the first decoder (and ignored by the second decoder) and encoded data (e.g., other bursts of data) decodable by the second decoder (and ignored by the first decoder).

  • Patent number: 9374495
Abstract: A printing system includes first and second communicatively linked printers, each including a print engine and a processor which controls the operation of the respective print engine. A scanner, associated with the first printer, scans a hardcopy document and generates image data therefrom. The scanner is for communicating the image data to the first printer. A graphical user interface is provided through which user selections are communicated to at least one of the scanner and the first printer. The first processor has a first mode of operation in which a print job derived from the image data is printed on the first print engine and a second mode of operation in which a print job is exported to the second printer for printing. At least one of the first and second modes of operation is invoked at least in part by user interaction with the graphical user interface.

  • Patent number: 9373330
Abstract: A method for performing speaker recognition comprises: estimating respective uncertainties of acoustic coverage of respective speech utterance(s) by first and second speakers, the acoustic coverage representing respective sounds used by the speakers when speaking; representing the respective uncertainties of acoustic coverage in a manner that allows for efficient memory usage by discarding dependencies between uncertainties of different sounds for the speakers; representing the respective uncertainties of acoustic coverage in a manner that allows for efficient computation by representing an inverse of the respective uncertainties of acoustic coverage and then discarding the dependencies between the uncertainties of different sounds for the speakers; and computing a score between the speech utterance(s) by the speakers in a manner that leverages the respective uncertainties of the acoustic coverage during the comparison, the score being indicative of a likelihood that the speakers are the same speaker.

  • Patent number: 9373343
Abstract: An audio signal with a temporal sequence of blocks or frames is received or accessed. Features are determined as characterizing aggregately the sequential audio blocks/frames that have been processed recently, relative to current time. The feature determination exceeds a specificity criterion and is delayed, relative to the recently processed audio blocks/frames. Voice activity indication is detected in the audio signal. VAD is based on a decision that exceeds a preset sensitivity threshold and is computed over a brief time period, relative to blocks/frames duration, and relates to current block/frame features. The VAD and the recent feature determination are combined with state related information, which is based on a history of previous feature determinations that are compiled from multiple features, determined over a time prior to the recent feature determination time period. Decisions to commence or terminate the audio signal, or related gains, are outputted based on the combination.

  • Patent number: 9367274
Abstract: Upon startup of an OS, the present invention obtains an entry of a StatusMonitor key from all printer driver setting information subscribed in a registry by means of a subscriber (S0), and if a value thereof is 1, obtains an entry of a key including “Notification”. If a value of an array element 0 indicates activation of notification, the present invention obtains a character string of an array element 1 as an event type, and makes a Subscribe request to an image forming apparatus (S3). The present invention stores a subscription ID being returned, and makes an Unsubscribe request to the image forming apparatus for all subscription IDs thus stored, upon shut-down of the OS.

  • Patent number: 9354830
Abstract: If an information processing apparatus detects that a shift condition for shifting from a normal power mode to a power saving mode has been satisfied, the information processing apparatus determines whether a session with an external apparatus has been established. If it is determined that the session has been established, the information processing apparatus shifts to a first power saving mode while maintaining the session. On the other hand, if it is determined that the session has not been established, the information processing apparatus shifts to a second power saving mode in which less power is consumed than in the first power saving mode.

  • Patent number: 9350600
Abstract: Provided is a responding apparatus that performs a network response in the standby mode and is not required much time for transitioning to the standby mode. The responding apparatus receives information request data from a network and transmits response data corresponding to the information request data to network, in the normal mode and standby mode. A normal mode response data making part makes response data in the normal mode. A recursive response request part recursively transmits information request data that requires information of other response data to the normal mode response data making part in the normal mode. An information storing part accumulates the information of the other response data corresponding to the information request data. A standby mode response data making part makes response data from information accumulated by information storing part in the standby mode.

  • Patent number: 9338326
Abstract: An image processing apparatus that is capable of appropriately applying security policy data based on an information security policy. Security policy data containing a policy name of a security policy and a security policy setting value corresponding to the policy name is applied to the image processing apparatus. An obtaining unit obtains updating security policy data for updating the security policy data. An application version determination unit determines whether the updating security policy data obtained by the obtaining unit will be applied according to a predetermined application version setting value, when a version of the updating security policy data differs from a version of security policy data that is being applied actually. An application unit applies the updating security policy data when the application version determination unit determines that the updating security policy data will be applied.

  • Patent number: 9338621
Abstract: The invention provides a mobile terminal based layout method, including rearranging a WWW (world wide web) webpage with PC-based layout according to the following layout rules: based on WWW webpage PC-based layout rules, keeping a width of a block element unchanged, and wrapping an inline element inside the block element onto a next line in a screen width of the mobile terminal; and displaying the webpage that is rearranged according to the above rules on the mobile terminal. By using the present invention, not only overall layout of the webpage remains a main display style of the PC-based layout, but local region of the webpage is adjusted to adapt to a mobile phone screen, so that contents such as characters can be continuously displayed within the mobile phone screen. The PC-based layout and the display of the mobile terminal are perfectly combined together, thus ensuring the users to browse the Internet on the mobile terminal more conveniently without changing their browsing habit.
