  • Patent number: 6676118
Abstract: An adjustable casing for helical spring mainly includes a male and a female case, and a rotation member. A helical spring is enclosed in the casing with an end of fixedly connected to a fixing seat provided at a bottom center of the female case, and another end located in the male case. The rotation member is provided around an outer or an inner surface with a plurality of stoppers that are adapted to engage with coils of the helical spring. When the rotation member is rotated, the number of active coils of the spring subjected to a compressing or a stretching force is changed, and the modulus of elasticity of the helical spring is adjusted, accordingly. The helical spring mounted in the adjustable casing may have higher flexibility in its usage to meet requirements of different machines.

  • Patent number: 6672686
Abstract: The fundamental approach of the present invention is to dispose bushes, in which pistons of a pumping apparatus for a vehicle brake system are movably disposed, in such a movable manner that they themselves may in dependence upon movements of the pistons act as pistons in order to supply brake fluid to the vehicle brake system. In particular, the bushes, whose pistons are pumping brake fluid into an associated brake circuit, do not act as pistons. On the other hand, brake fluid is fed back into a brake circuit by bushes, whose pistons are pumping substantially no brake fluid into the brake circuit but are taking in e.g. brake fluid removed from the vehicle brake system in order subsequently to pump it back into the brake circuit.

  • Patent number: 6672436
Abstract: A shock absorber includes a valve assembly with a low speed oil flow circuit and a mid/high speed oil flow circuit. Both circuits control fluid flow through the valve assembly in the same direction. The low speed oil flow circuit is tunable in order to provide low speed damping to improve both the vehicle control and handling. The tuning of the low speed oil flow circuit is accomplished by supporting a low speed valve disc at a position radially inward of its outer edge to control the rate at which the low speed oil flow circuit opens. The valve assembly of the present invention can be located within either a base valve assembly or a piston valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 6659572
Abstract: An emergency brake assist apparatus amplifies driver braking force upon imminent contact detection. A brake pedal, operated by the driver, exerts a pedal force upon a variable brake booster. A braking system is coupled to the variable brake booster that produces a variable brake booster force causing the braking system to exert a braking force proportional to the pedal force during normal operation. When a forward detection apparatus detects an imminent contact, a controller signals the variable brake booster to increase the variable brake booster force such that the braking system exerts an amplified braking force proportional to the pedal force.
