    Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing a moisture curable silyl-terminated polymer which comprises the steps of: (a) reacting a terminally-unsaturated monol (preferably a polyether or polyester monol) with a polyfunctional hydroxyl-reactive compound selected from the group consisting of polyisocyanates and organic polacyl compounds in a molar ratio of one mole of monol for each equivalent of functionality on said polyfunctional hydroxyl-reactive moiety, to provide a terminally-unsaturated polymer having terminal unsaturation at each end thereof; and (b) reacting said terminally-unsaturated polymer with a dialkoxyalkylsilane to form a dialkoxyalkylsilylterminated polymer capable of curing upon contact with moisture.

The process comprises contacting melamine with M-TMI, contacting the adduct formed with formaldehyde, and contacting the hydroxymethylated adduct with an alcohol such as butanol. A curable composition comprising the monomeric aminoplast crosslinker and a polyfunctional active hydrogen-containing material is also provided. An improved method of coating using the curable composition to produce cured films or objects is also provided.

    Abstract: A one-part moisture curable polyurethane adhesive composition comprises a blend of polyurethane prepolymers and one or more additives which unexpectedly improve the sag resistance and mechanical properties of the formulation. The final adhesive composition retains good stability in the absence of moisture for an extended period between manufacture and application of the adhesive, and has a relatively rapid and consistent cure rate in the presence of atmospheric moisture. The final cured composition exhibits good mechanical properties and generally is unaffected by ambient application and cure conditions.
