Abstract: Provided is a mobile terminal apparatus which can realize a long-time wait as follows. The mobile terminal apparatus surely performs a reselection process to increase chances to wait for a host communication system, improve the traffic efficiency, and reduce arrival failures while reducing power consumption. A communication method and a radio network system for the mobile terminal apparatus are also disclosed. The mobile terminal apparatus (mobile telephone 10) includes a communication unit (1) and a control unit (8). The control unit (8) uses the communication unit (1) to periodically monitor presence/absence of a predetermined bit of a paging channel in a base station with which communication is in progress.
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method for paging an emergency service user. When a mobility management unit is configured to support the paging optimization in a core network, the mobility management unit does not perform paging optimization when a UE has an emergency bearer service. That is to say, a paging message is sent to all base stations (including the CSG-mode home base station that does not authorize the UE) in the paging tracking list registered by the UE. A core network gateway can notify the mobility management unit of whether the UE has an emergency bearer service. Alternatively, the mobility management unit configured to use the paging optimization, after learning that the service data is to be sent to the UE, checks the current service type of the UE to determine whether the UE has an emergency bearer service. Accordingly, the present disclosure further discloses a system for paging an emergency service user.
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to facilitate the determination of the environmental context of a mobile terminal. In this regard, the method, apparatus and computer program product may utilize the features obtained by a plurality of different types of radio receivers in order to more precisely determine the environmental context of the mobile terminal. The performance of the mobile terminal including applications executed by the mobile terminal may correspondingly be more accurately tailored to the current environmental context of the mobile terminal.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a help-seeking method, device and system based on a location based service, which relate to the field of location based service technologies. Help-seeking information sent by a first terminal is received, and a location area of the first terminal is determined according to the help-seeking information; the help-seeking information is sent to a second terminal located in the same location area as the first terminal; and response information fed back by the second terminal is received, and the response information is sent to the first terminal. The problem that, in the prior art, help-seeking information cannot be published in time when a user terminal needs help from another user terminal in the neighborhood of the user terminal in terms of geographic location is solved. The present invention may be applied in a mobile user terminal, for example, a smart phone terminal.
Abstract: A processor node stores and processes the last known location for certain mobile terminals to provide intermediate back-channel data in a form that is a function of whether the intermediate back-channel data is to be used in a situation that would encroach on information that might be sensitive to the subscriber or user of the mobile terminal, as viewed contractually, ethically or otherwise. If, for example, the subscriber or user of the mobile terminal has no such concerns (rights have been waived voluntarily by agreement with the wireless network operator or a third party, or involuntarily such as by a government mandate), the processor node generates location-identity-based back-channel data in a form that does not attempt to hide or code the user's identity and/or specific location. This form of (nonanonymized) data can be freely used internally by processor nodes internal to the wireless carrier as well as produced for review and analysis, such as demographic analytics, for use by a third party.
Abstract: A slave device is charged directly from a cellular phone. The slave device can be charged along with the cellular phone or from the internal battery of the cellular phone. When the slave device is connected, a “click” sound is played through an enunciator of the cellular phone.
Abstract: Communication devices capable of at least two communication modes (e.g. WLAN, WMAN and WWAN and/or wired modes) can be configured to optimize communications using a policy-based mechanism to configure connections and routes. A rules engine evaluates its policies on a state change (e.g. network availability, time of day, etc.) to configure a routing table and, together with communication APIs, provides an appropriate connection to an application for its respective communications. Policies may be responsive to various factors such as Radio Access Technology (high/low bandwidth), cost, presence, time of day, location, application type and quality of service (QoS) requirements among others to optimize communications.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for searching for and reporting Public Land Mobile Networks “PLMNs” in a mobile telecommunications system, the method comprising, at a mobile device: initiating a scan to find Public Land Mobile Networks; when a cell of a PLMN is detected on a frequency, then reading system information to determine one or more PLMN identities of the detected cell; determining whether the detected cell operates in a frequency band supported by the mobile device; when it is determined that the detected cell does not operate in a band supported by the device, omitting adding the associated one or more PLMN identities from a first of PLMNs, and otherwise adding the one or more PLMN identities to the list of PLMNs; and reporting the list of PLMNs.

The registration server responds to a first contact request carried out using a first association number for the access point, provided by the first user equipment, receives a first association request for the association with the access point, provided by the first user equipment, authorizes the first association request based on a first authorization information provided by the first user equipment; registers the association between the first user equipment and the access point responsive to authorization of the first association request. The first user equipment is associated with the access point and the association is administered by the registration server.

Abstract: A system and method for predicting future locations of mobile communication devices utilizes connection-related data from a mobile access network supporting the mobile communication devices to determine latest locations of the mobile communication devices, which are used to predict the future locations of the mobile communication devices. In addition to the determined locations of the mobile communication devices, carrier-provided location predictive indicators and/or non-carrier location predictive indicators may be used to improve the accuracy of the predicted future locations.
Abstract: A mobile phone filters phone calls based on priority. The mobile phone determines a call priority of an incoming phone call based on the caller's telephone number. The mobile phone also determines a threshold priority for the current time period based on a priority schedule. The mobile phone compares the call priority with the threshold priority to determine whether to block the incoming call. If the mobile phone blocks the incoming phone call, it may transmit a message to the caller suggesting a time for the caller to make the phone call again.
Abstract: A GSM or UMTS mobile telecommunications network is disclosed. In addition to the conventional radio access network comprising macro base station, one or more additional access points are provided. The access point is connected to the network core by an IP transport broadband connection. The access point is configured to appear to the mobile terminal as a conventional base station—that is, it communicates with the mobile terminal using GSM or UMTS transport protocols and does not require any modification to a standard GSM or UMTS mobile terminal. A subscriber may be provided with a designated “home” access point to provide coverage in their premises. Arrangements are described which will tend to reduce the likelihood that reselection to the macro base station while radio coverage is available from the home access point.
Abstract: A network can send cell reselection criteria to a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal measures or otherwise obtains radio condition measurements (such as received power, interference, mobile transmit power and the like) and/or geographical location measurements. The mobile can maintain a history of the cell selection criteria and/or measurements. The radio condition measurements are compared against historical data and/or cell reselection criteria and, based on the comparison; the mobile terminal can initiate cell reselection.
Abstract: A system and method for entering a destination into a navigation system, usually a vehicle navigation system, that reduces the cognitive load on the vehicle user over known systems. The method includes contacting the destination by any suitable and available manner, such as by a cell phone provided on or in the vehicle, through the internet, through an ad-hoc network, etc., where information concerning the GPS location of the destination is sent back to the navigation system and is displayed on the navigation system screen. If the destination is accurate, the vehicle driver can select that destination, such as by touching an icon on the screen, which would allow the destination entry process to be performed while the vehicle was moving.
