  • Patent number: 10652400
Abstract: A base station method is provided to control user data traffic. A wireless device is associated with a limited volume of resources for user data traffic. When it remains resources in the limited volume associated the wireless device, the base station receives a first indicator from a core network node. The first indicator indicates that said user data traffic shall be routed to the local cloud. The base station routes the user data traffic over a split bearer. The split bearer comprises a first bearer between the base station and the local cloud in which said user data traffic is routed and a second bearer from the base station to a gateway node. In the second bearer a copy of said user data traffic is routed for measuring the volume of the user data traffic between the wireless device and the local cloud in relation to the limited volume.

  • Patent number: 10631262
Abstract: Certain cellular communication systems may use beamforming to create distinct signal beams in different radial directions relative to a base station. Upon receiving a request for the location of a mobile device, a position calculation function is used to calculate the location of the mobile device based on multiple types of location-related data. The location-related data may indicate the direction of the directional signal beam that is currently being used for communications between the mobile device and a base station. The direction may be used in conjunction with other location-related data, such as distance information, to estimate the location of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 10616401
Abstract: A device and method for locking in button context based on a source contact of an electronic communication is provided. An electronic communication is received, via a communication interface, from a source contact. A controller detects that button, of one or more buttons, has been activated, each of the one or more buttons mapped to activation of respective functions. The controller identifies a respective function mapped to the button. When the button is activated within a threshold time period after receiving the electronic communication, the controller performs the respective function using the source contact from which the electronic communication was received. When the button is activated after the threshold time period, the controller performs the respective function independent of the source contact.

  • Patent number: 10602348
Abstract: A system and method for selectively updating the versions of stored datasets on a wireless device that selectively communicates to a wireless network and downloads datasets, such as software applications and information, from download servers on the wireless network. The wireless device has a resident dataset version summary file that identifies the version of each resident dataset, and upon the wireless device attempting to communicate with the download server, the wireless device compares the version of each specific resident dataset listed in the resident dataset version summary file with the version of downloadable datasets resident on the download server to thereby determine if the version of a wireless device resident dataset is different from the version of a download server resident dataset. If the download server resident dataset is more recent, the wireless device can download it to overwrite the wireless device resident dataset.
