Abstract: Particles, compositions, and methods that aid particle transport in mucus are provided. The particles, compositions, and methods may be used, in some instances, for ophthalmic and/or other applications. In some embodiments, the compositions and methods may involve modifying the surface coatings of particles, such as particles of pharmaceutical agents that have a low aqueous solubility. Such compositions and methods can be used to achieve efficient transport of particles of pharmaceutical agents though mucus barriers in the body for a wide spectrum of applications, including drug delivery, imaging, and diagnostic applications. In certain embodiments, a pharmaceutical composition including such particles is well-suited for ophthalmic applications, and may be used for delivering pharmaceutical agents to the front of the eye and/or the back of the eye.

Abstract: Methods for spray drying gram negative bacteria are provided. Such spray drying methods are performed under conditions that allow for the spray dried composition to retain the biological activity of interest of the gram-negative bacteria. Further provided are compositions comprising a spray dried gram-negative bacteria, where the spray dried formulation comprises at least 105 CFU/gram of said gram-negative bacteria. The gram-negative bacteria employed in the various methods and compositions can comprise a biological activity of interest which, in specific embodiments, controls one or more pathogens that cause plant disease and/or improve at least one agronomic trait of interest. The spray dried formulation can be used as an inoculant for plants. Methods for growing a plant susceptible to plant disease and methods and compositions for controlling plant disease are also provided. Further provided are methods and compositions of increasing disease resistance in plants.

Abstract: Effective delivery of an insecticide to a growing plant can sometimes be problematic. Topical delivery of an insecticide at the post-emergence stage of growth can sometimes be ineffective. It can also be difficult to deliver an insecticide to the roots of a growing plant, such as to combat a subsurface insect infestation. Accordingly, soil blends having insecticidal activity can comprise a soil medium, a porous soil additive, and an insecticide dispersed within the soil medium. Such soil blends may be used in conjunction with cultivating a variety of plants. Methods for producing the soil blends can comprise providing a soil medium and a porous soil additive, and dispersing the porous soil additive and an insecticide within the soil medium.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition includes a non-acid-resistant-grade ultramarine dye, a stabilizing agent, at least one additive, and water. The ultramarine dye may be present at a concentration of about 0.1% to about 0.4%, by weight, of the cosmetic composition and may include a trisulfur radical anion. The stabilizing agent may include baicalin and may be at a concentration of about 0.2% or less, by weight, of the cosmetic composition. The cosmetic composition may have a pH in the range of 6.5 to 8.0. A method of stabilizing a cosmetic composition includes forming a cosmetic composition including a non-acid-resistant-grade ultramarine dye, a stabilizing agent, at least one additive, and water. The method also includes adjusting a pH of the cosmetic composition to a predetermined value. The stabilizing agent inhibits degradation of the ultramarine dye, thereby stabilizing the cosmetic composition and inhibiting generation of an odor caused by degradation of the ultramarine dye.
Abstract: The invention provides an herbicide composition, which contains as active ingredients a Component A selected from the group consisting of an oxopyrazine derivative represented by the following Formula X and salts thereof, and a Components B described in the Specification, and which is capable of controlling effectively the growth of an plant undesirable for a useful plant, is highly safe to a useful plant, and exerts high effect at a low dosage: where R represents a lower alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and X represents a halogen atom, respectively.
