Abstract: The present invention provides a process of producing a vinyl acetate polymer by homopolymerization of a vinyl acetate monomer or copolymerization of a vinyl acetate monomer and another copolymerizable comonomer, wherein a polymerization initiator is an organic peroxide having a half life at 60.degree. C. of 10 to 110 minutes, and a polymerization liquid contains at least one carboxylic acid or its salt, said carboxylic acid being selected from the group consisting of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and a polycarboxylic acid.
Abstract: The adhesive formulation minimizes corrosion of copper surfaces (e.g., of motor commutators) caused by volatile ingredients of conventional acrylate compositions, and cure speeds are significantly increased thereover.
Abstract: Styryl-modified acrylate polymer pressure sensitive adhesive beads, adhesive films made therefrom and methods of making the same. Surprisingly, the polymerization of styryl-functional monomer into bead formulations provides beads that can be easily extruded and made into adhesive films having high shear strength. The polymerization of styryl-functional monomer into bead formulations comprising methacrylic acid also obviates the need to use a modifier moiety.

Abstract: Amorphous copolymer of fluoromonomer, such as tetrafluoroethylene, with vinyl ester, such as vinyl acetate, having a substantially uniform composition is made by aqueous dispersion polymerization by maintaining essentially constant the proportion of the fluoromonomer and vinyl ester copolymerizing with one another. In one embodiment, this proportion consistency is obtained by reducing the agitation rate of the aqueous polymerization medium during the copolymerization reaction at constant fluoromonomer feed pressure within the polymerization reactor.
