Abstract: An image reading apparatus reads an original image of an original placed on an original tray by a scanner unit. The original is conveyed to a reading position used by the scanner unit from the original tray through a conveyance path. A registration roller pair configured to mechanically correct skew of the original at a time of conveyance of the original is provided on the conveyance path. The image reading apparatus calculates a skew amount at the time of the conveyance of the original based on the original image, and conducts image processing on the original image based on the skew amount, to thereby correct a tilt of the original image. The image reading apparatus stops the conveyance of the original when the absolute value of the skew amount is larger than a first threshold value.

Abstract: A replacing unit replaces lower bits of tone values expressed in binary numbers of the specific pixels of source image data with additional information needed in a print data creating process in a printing machine. That is, least significant bits of the tone values expressed in binary numbers of specific pixels of the source image data after RIP processing are replaced with information to be communicated to the printing machine. As the information to be communicated to the printing machine, there is multi-SPM selection information used in a halftone dot process in the printing machine.
Abstract: An authentication control apparatus includes a first authenticating unit, a second authenticating unit, a controller, and an outputting unit. The first authenticating unit performs first authentication using authentication information stored in association with a memory area. The second authenticating unit performs second authentication using authentication information stored in association with a user. The controller performs control to perform one of authentication operations that are the first authentication and the second authentication when the user uses the memory area. The outputting unit outputs information if the one of the authentication operations performed under the control of the controller does not succeed. The information prompts the user to input authentication information to be used in an authentication operation performed when the user uses the memory area.

Further, when detecting that the external storage medium is attached to the receiving unit at the time of startup, a control unit collates identification information stored in a storage unit with identification information acquired from the external storage medium. A notification unit does not perform notification of attachment if identification information is matched and, if not, performs notification of attachment.
Abstract: A portable terminal comprises an ID acquisition section, a position information acquisition section and a return instruction section. The ID acquisition section acquires ID information that specifies a print job sent from an information processing apparatus to an image forming apparatus. In a case in which the ID information is acquired and a beacon signal is received from a beacon transmitter, the position information acquisition section acquires, according to the received beacon information, position information relating to a position of the portable terminal relative to the image forming apparatus. If the position information meets a specific condition indicating the approach of the portable terminal to the image forming apparatus, the return instruction section instructs the image forming apparatus to return from a power-saving mode to a normal mode.
Abstract: An image reading device includes a document sheet conveying portion, an imaging element, a reading processing portion, a detection processing portion, and a stop processing portion. The document sheet conveying portion sequentially conveys a plurality of document sheets placed on a document sheet placement portion. The imaging element is disposed at a document sheet conveyance path. The reading processing portion executes a reading process of reading image data from each of the document sheets placed on the document sheet placement portion. The detection processing portion detects an abnormal image from image data of a document sheet read in the reading process. The stop processing portion, when the detection processing portion has detected the abnormal image, stops the reading process and a power supply to the imaging element, and after an elapse of a predetermined wait time, resumes the power supply to the imaging element, and resumes the reading process.
