  • Patent number: 4890413
Abstract: A floating fish holding container has flexible open mesh fabric side, top and bottom walls surrounding a chamber for accommodating fish in water. A top ring having buoyant material attached to the top of the side wall floats the container in a body of water. A bottom ring attached to the bottom of the side wall maintains the cylindrical shape of the container in the water. The top wall has an opening into the chamber that is biased to an open position with elastic cords. A draw string is used to close the opening. A releasable locking device on the draw string holds the top wall in the closed position. When the locking device is released the elastic cords automatically open the opening. A plurality of strings mounted on the side walls are used to adjust the length of the side wall to allow the container to float in shallow water without contacting the bottom or weeds in the body of water.

  • Patent number: 4889276
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming and bonding metal assemblies using an internally heated chamber. The parts can be both superplastic formed and diffusion bonded to other parts. A closable chamber contains a heating element near the chamber center. A ceramic die at least partially surrounding the heating element has a forming surface toward the heating element. The inner wall of the chamber is lined with a pressure bladder. A granular material, conical ceramic support, or extensible bladder fills the space between ceramic die and chamber inner wall. With the chamber closed, the heater is activated while an inert gas under pressure is introduced between heater and die and the bladder if used is pressurized. The bladder or packed granules support the outer die surface while the gas pressure presses metal parts on the die forming surface against the die. The metal parts are formed and bonded together by the substantially isostatic forces thereon.

  • Patent number: 4887761
Abstract: A method of explosively bonding metal plates into a multi-laminar composite plate wherein the metal plates are assembled over a restraining means, e.g. an anvil, in overlapping spaced-apart relationship, a driver plate having a mass of at least the total mass of the plates to be bonded is disposed over the top plate of the assembly at a stand-off distance of at least half its thickness, a buffer layer of granular inert material is disposed between the driver plate and the top plate, and an explosive layer is placed on the driver plate and detonated in the direction parallel to the driver plate. The number of plates which can be bonded in a single operation can be increased by placing an explosive layer driver plate and a layer of granular inert material symmetrically on each side of an assembly of metal plates and detonating each explosive charge simultaneously. The method produces multi-laminar composite plates having improved uniformity of bond quality at the interfaces.
