  • Patent number: 4907364
Abstract: A hard plastic jig head includes a cavity on its back side to receive the forward end of a soft, pliable body member mounted on a retainer and the barb of a fish hook. A ballast weight is placed at the rear bottom of the jig head to resist the tendency of the lure to rotate in the water and to provide a desired, horizontal orientation as the lure is retrieved. Dimples are provided on the soft, plastic body member to locate penetration points for the retainer and hook barb. One embodiment of the lure includes a bottom flat surface which is 10.degree. to the horizontal and merges into a front upwardly extending surface at 40.degree.-45.degree. to the horizontal to maintain the lure horizontal as it is retrieved.

  • Patent number: 4905885
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming thin-wall tubing in a funnel die or with a series of sets of forming rollers. The tubing is then welded by a method and apparatus which includes simultaneous guiding of the both the inner and outer peripheries of the tubing during the welding operation by a mandrel and a sleeve, respectively, so that lack of rigidity of the tubing is not a limitation. The edges of the tubing are not clamped, but are allowed to "float" during welding. The resulting tubing is highly uniform. A wide range of tubing materials can be welded and thin-wall tubing of nearly any desired length or wall thickness can be produced.

  • Patent number: 4905344
Abstract: A resettable heat actuated link having an associated releasable member comprises first and second gripping portions for acting cooperatively to engage the releasable member in a normal position and to release the releasable member in an activated position. Along with the first and second gripping portions there is provided a heat responsive bimetallic element for causing the gripping portions to move to the normal position in response to ambient temperature and to cause the first and second gripping portions to move away from each other to an activated position in response to a preselected increase above the ambient temperature and to release the releasable member at the increased temperature. The first and second gripping portions, the heat responsive bimetallic element, and a base for mounting the link are integrally formed from a single bimetallic strip.

  • Patent number: 4905398
Abstract: A fishing pole with indicator means particularly useful in fishing through the ice. The pole is preferably constructed primarily of wood and includes a nose piece on the end of which is a rod above which is mounted an elongated, flexible member attached to the nose piece and extending at an angle vertically above the rod. Extending through the nose piece is an adjustable member forming an electrial contact which the flexible member engages when a pull is exerted on its end by the fish line. The adjustable contact member determines the sensitivity of the indicator means which includes a buzzer and an LED light operatively connected to the adjustable contact member and elongated flexible member. A reel mounted on top of the handle includes a groove formed between two flanges. A plurality of radially extending slots are cut into the flanges and a rubber band is inserted in two of the adjacent slots for regulating the amount of fish line that can be let out of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4905404
Abstract: A floating fish basket for use by divers and spear fishermen has a frame removably secured to a flotation ring. A coaxial wire mesh bag is suspended from the frame within the flotation ring for containing fish and other sea animals. The frame and mesh bag have aligned openings which may be selectively closed by a pivotal door mounted by a hinge on the frame. A chain extends between the bottom of the bag and the door and is operative upon opening the door to partially axially collapse the mesh bag to enable an individual to have access to bottom portions of the bag. The chain may be adjusted in length to shorten the axial extent of the bag for use in shallow water. A socket on the frame is provided for mounting a staff of a diving flag. The flotation ring may be captured between upper and lower frame members secured by threaded fasteners or alternatively secured by frictional engagement within a frame recess or held in place by VELCRO fastening straps.

  • Patent number: 4906823
Abstract: The invention relates to a solder carrier comprising a sheet of self-support type, made of a material which does not react to a solder when it is melted, a plurality of small through holes, and solder filling the through holes, each of the small through holes having an end, the area of which is larger than that of the other end. By using this solder carrier, a semiconductor device can be flip-chip-connected to a carrier substrate through a bump method, and solder balls can be formed for connecting the carrier substrate to a multilayer circuit board. The through holes of the solder carrier, each of which holes is to be filled with solder, is formed by etching, and the solder is inserted in the holes under pressure by a roll or the like.

  • Patent number: 4903888
Abstract: Novel methods for repairing worn surfaces of turbine rotors, are disclosed. These methods include depositing a first layer of weld metal on a worn surface of the component, whereby a heat-affected zone is created. A second layer of weld metal is then deposited over the first layer using a greater amount of heat to temper at least a portion of the heat-affected zone produced by the first layer. The preferred embodiments include the use of gas tungsten arc welding for producing fine-grain size and more creep resistance, especially in the weld and heat-affected zone. The resulting build-up can be machined, for example into a blade fastening to produce a component having properties equal to or better than the base-metal alloy. The invention also provides a longer lasting turbine system, including rotors which have serrated steeples that are more resistant to failure.
