  • Patent number: 11115701
Abstract: A virtual reality (VR) system including a head mounted display (HMD), a sensor or input device, and options, selection, and display modules. The HMD displays a VR environment including sports content of a live game, a prerecorded game, or a sports channel. The options module generates an options signal to show viewing options in the VR environment. The viewing options define viewing aspects for viewing the sports content within the VR environment. The sensor or input device generates signals based on detection of movement of the HMD, movement of an eyeball of a user, user voice communication, or user contact with the input device. The selection module, based on the signals: selects the sports content and a viewing option; and generates a selection signal. The display module displays the sports content in the VR environment based on the selection signal.

  • Patent number: 11095925
Abstract: A resolution improvement system includes a server, for performing, in response to a user device side request, a service for transmitting requested video data to a user device. A universal neural network file required for operation of an artificial neural network algorithm for improving the resolution of image information on the basis of the retained video data is generated, and the low-quality video data in which the generated universal neural network file and the resolution are changed to less than or equal to a preset level is transmitted to the user device. A user device performs a calculation operation on the basis of an artificial neural network algorithm that applies the received universal neural network file to the low quality video data received from the server, improving the resolution of the low quality video data according to the calculation operation, and playing back the video data with improved resolution.

  • Patent number: 11082734
Abstract: Provided is a system and method for publishing a disparate live media output stream that complies with distribution format regulations. One or more processors in the system generate a preview based on a low-latency protocol for a plurality of live input streams, and generate an updated schedule based on one or more events identified in the preview in real-time. The updated schedule includes one or more transitions between the plurality of live input streams and pre-encoded media assets. A disparate live media output stream manifest is generated based on manipulation of manifests of the plurality of live input streams and pre-encoded media assets in accordance with the updated schedule. The generated disparate live media output stream manifest is delayed to allow decisions based on the preview, and includes programming content and non-programming content available to the one or more processors for immediate consumption, and complies with distribution format regulations.

  • Patent number: 11032587
Abstract: Techniques for providing selective video forwarding in real-time video applications involving multiple user devices. The techniques can be employed in WebRTC videoconferences, taking into account the heterogeneous natures of device display resolutions and networks in which the respective devices operate. The techniques employ a selective forwarding unit (SFU) having a real-time adaptive video transcoder. The SFU determines whether a benefit to quality of experience (QoE) can be achieved by performing, in real-time, adaptive video transcoding on large video streams produced by the respective devices. If a heterogeneity value associated with available network bandwidths is greater than a predetermined value and sufficient CPU/memory resources are available, then the real-time adaptive video transcoder performs, in real-time, adaptive video transcoding on the large video streams to produce corresponding small video streams, which are selectively forwarded to user devices having low available network bandwidths.

  • Patent number: 11025353
Abstract: A broadcast receiving system is disclosed that verifies a current digital certificate extracted from a digital broadcast signal using a previous digital certificate previously stored as trusted. The current and previous digital certificates are associated with digital signatures with which data received with the broadcast signal has been signed. Also disclosed is a system for signing application data to be broadcast together with a digital certificate in a digital broadcast signal. A current digital certificate attesting the validity of a digital signature attached to broadcast data is in turn signed with a digital signature using one or more previous private keys associated with respective previous certificates identifying the issuer of the current digital certificate. These disclosures are in particular applicable to HbbTV.

  • Patent number: 11006180
Abstract: The disclosed technology includes a system and method for selecting highlight media clips and posting the highlight media clips to social media platforms. In one implementation, a method includes receiving, during a live event, a selection of a point of interest (POI) in a media stream of the live event, the POI corresponding to a reference time during the live event, inserting into the media stream POI timing metadata indicating the reference time of the POI, and transcoding the media stream into data segments responsive to inserting the media stream POI timing metadata, each data segment corresponding to a presentation time stamp (PTS). The method may include selecting a data segment of the transcoded data segments, the selected data segment corresponding to a PTS mapped to the reference time and generating a media clip containing the selected data segment for presentation over a communications network during the live event.

  • Patent number: 11006161
Abstract: Approaches for generating dynamic over-the-top (OTT) adjustable bit rate (ABR) representations of a video with a variable resolution and/or frame rate using on-the-fly (OTF) transcoding and assistance metadata. At an encoder located at a head-end, the encoder encodes a video stream at an initial bit rate and produces optimum representation (OpRep) metadata, which describes an optimum presentation for the video stream for each of a plurality of bit rates or the minimum bitrate below which a presentation becomes sub-optimal. The head-end transmits the encoded video stream and the OpRep metadata to a transcoder of a Content Delivery Network (CDN). The transcoder at the CDN uses the OpRep metadata to dynamically transcode the video stream in a preferred picture resolution and a preferred frame rate at a different bit rate than the initial bit rate using the OpRep metadata.

  • Patent number: 10979777
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to processing systems that generate reverse video content output streams for reconstruction of sensor devices. A computing platform may receive video content including step completion inputs. Based on the step completion inputs, the computing platform may mark data packets in the video content, and may use the marked data packets to generate video segments. The computing platform may refine the video segments to remove the step completion inputs, and may generate a first reverse video content output stream using the refined video segments. The computing platform may send the first reverse video content output stream to an enhanced reality device for display. The computing platform may determine a maintenance update corresponding to a sensor device shown in the video content, and may send commands directing a maintenance database to update a maintenance log and to cause the sensor device to perform a setting adjustment.
