Abstract: Devices, servers, systems and methods for content protection are provided. Disclosed embodiments improve temporal granularity of controlling access to the protected content and increase resilience against attacks attempting to prevent re-evaluation of conditions of access. Enforcement of re-evaluation may be based on the receipt and/or verification of tokens. In some embodiments, re-evaluation is enforced by periodically rendering content keys required for content decryption unuseable and/or clearing content keys already in use.

Abstract: Provided is a mobile information terminal that performs data transmission and reception, the data transmission and reception including video data reception. The mobile information terminal includes a communication management execution module that obtains a communication amount of data transmitted and received by the mobile information terminal in a predetermined period, and a remote viewing execution module that compares the obtained communication amount to a preset predetermined value and makes an image quality of the video data selectable according to a relationship between the obtained communication amount and the predetermined value.

Abstract: A method of controlling, from a user device, a manner in which program content is received from a content server. The method includes: transmitting, from the user device, at least one transmission-quality-of-service (TXQ) parameter to the content server, wherein the at least one TXQ parameter updates a default TXQ parameter at the content server; and in response to transmitting the at least one TXQ parameter, receiving new program content in accordance with the at least one TXQ parameter.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a request for an instance of content and determines content metadata for the instance of content. A metric for concurrent playback sessions based on the content metadata is determined. The concurrent playback sessions are actively streaming content. The method evaluates the request to block or allow the request based on comparing the metric for concurrent playback sessions to a threshold for the concurrent playback sessions.

Abstract: A media server for an on-board entertainment system comprising terminals, the server comprising: a memory for storing media content; a distribution module configured to distribute stored media content to terminals; a controller for controlling the storage of media content in the storage module; wherein the controller is configured to collect the numbers of accesses via the terminals to the media content, to calculate the value of a retention parameter relating to each item of media content as a function of said number of accesses, and to automatically trigger the continued retention of said media content in the memory or its deletion as a function of at least said calculated value.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for disambiguating user input based on a physical location of items in a vicinity of a user. The system determines that a query received from a user contains an ambiguity. In response, the system identifies several items in the physical vicinity of the user. Then, the system analyzes the identified plurality of items to determine whether the plurality of items forms a first ensemble of items or a second ensemble of items. If the plurality of items forms a first ensemble of items, the system performs a search using the search query and a first keyword related to the first ensemble of items. If the plurality of items forms a second ensemble of items, the system performs a search using the search query and a second keyword related to the second ensemble of items. The system then outputs results of the performed search.

The client device receives a media stream from the media presentation and distribution system via a network. The media stream includes media content and one or more tags. The client device further identifies in the received media content, the one or more tags, which corresponds to the overlay-graphic items. The client device further identifies candidate time-periods in the media content based on the one or more tags in the media content. At least one presentation attribute for the overlay-graphic items is identified based on the one or more tags in the media content. The client device further presents the overlay-graphic items at the candidate time-periods on the media content based on a degree of correlation between the identified tag in the media content and a corresponding context for the media content at the candidate time-period.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for downloading media assets efficiently and quickly before loss of network connectivity. The method may allow a user to download portions of a media asset in different versions to download a maximum portion of the media asset before loss of network connectivity. Certain versions of media assets may be downloaded more quickly than other versions of media assets. The method may also allow a user to view partially downloaded media assets without network connectivity. The method may also replace portions of media assets downloaded in a first version with portions of the media assets in a second version once network connectivity is restored.

Abstract: Provided is a system and method for publishing a disparate live media output stream that complies with distribution format regulations. The system generates an updated schedule in real-time based on an event identified in a low-latency preview of a plurality of live input streams. The system further generates a disparate live media output stream manifest based on manipulation of manifests of the plurality of live input streams and a plurality of pre-encoded media assets in accordance with the updated schedule.

Abstract: A remote storage digital video recorder (RSDVR) retains multiple copies of media programs so long as the copies are expected to be useful to at least one user. Rather than assigning copies to specific users at the time the program is recorded, copies can be assigned as the users request access to the particular media programs. Copies of unassigned programs can be deleted according to a schedule to reduce disk storage and processing demands on the system. A pool of program copies that are not initially assigned to particular users can be maintained until the user makes a specific request to view the program. This “late assignment” of program copies can substantially reduce the amount of data stored by the RSDVR system without substantially impacting the viewer experience.

Abstract: Systems and methods for intelligent synchronization of media streams are provided. A server may receive streams corresponding to an interactive session and sent over a communication network from user devices in the interactive session. A predetermined attribute may be identified as present in each of the streams, but received at different times by the server. The server may determine a time difference between a time that a predetermined attribute in a first stream of the streams was received and a time that the predetermined attribute in a second stream of the streams was received. The first stream and the second stream may then be synchronized using the time difference and provided to a recipient device.

At least one beacon stream is connected to receive data from multiple collectors. Abstract: Methods and systems for managing data and/or operations on data are disclosed. A method can comprise receiving content from a first storage medium for playback. The received content can comprise a stored first portion of a transport stream. At least a portion of the received content can be caused to playback. A playback position of the at least a portion of the received content can be determined relative to a live position of the transport stream. If the determined playback position of the at least a portion of the received content is outside a predetermined threshold proximity to the live position, a second portion of the transport stream can be stored to the first storage medium. If the determined playback position of the received content is within the predetermined threshold proximity to the live position, the second portion of the transport stream can be stored to a second storage medium.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to count people are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein are to populate a list with first characteristic datasets obtained from a first plurality of images, respective ones of the first characteristic datasets representative of corresponding faces. Disclosed apparatus are also to perform comparisons of the first characteristic datasets to each other to determine a first number of unique faces, the comparisons limited to the first characteristic datasets obtained during the first period of time. Disclosed apparatus are further to delete the first characteristic datasets from the list after the first period of time has ended, and re-populate the list with second characteristic datasets obtained from a second plurality of images representative of the environment during a second period of time of the media presentation, the second period of time subsequent to the first period of time.

Abstract: Provided is a system and method for publishing a disparate live media output stream that complies with distribution format regulations. One or more processors in the system generate a preview based on a low-latency protocol for a plurality of live input streams, and generate an updated schedule based on one or more events identified in the preview in real-time. The updated schedule includes one or more transitions between the plurality of live input streams and pre-encoded media assets. A disparate live media output stream manifest is generated based on manipulation of manifests of the plurality of live input streams and pre-encoded media assets in accordance with the updated schedule. The generated disparate live media output stream manifest is delayed to allow decisions based on the preview, and includes programming content and non-programming content available to the one or more processors for immediate consumption, and complies with distribution format regulations.

Abstract: A method includes receiving audio data from a microphone of a device associated with a user. The audio data includes audio received by the microphone from a first source and from a second source. The audio data is correlated with a first audio signature and a second audio signature. Then, based on the correlation of the audio data with the first audio signature, first content broadcast from the first source is identified. Second content broadcast from the second source is also identified based on the correlation of the audio data with the second audio signature. It is then determined that the device is closer to the first source than the second source based on audio qualities and/or temporal aspects of the audio data. The first content is associated with the user based on the determination that the device is closer to the first source.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for delivering streams of media content in ways that smooth out the peaks that might otherwise occur due to the bit rate variations that result from encoding of the media content. This is accomplished by controlling the timing of the transmission of packets of the encoded media content.
