  • Patent number: 4073554
Abstract: An improved modular type safety deposit box system. In preferred form, each module is comprised of the same basic casing structure, and an initially separate door frame structure, these two components then being assembled into a completed module after pre-assembly of each component. Each module's casing may be subdivided into more than one compartment by use of a plurality of standardized horizontal dividers and, if desired, standardized vertical dividers, the dividers being arranged as desired in operative engagement with the casing through a slot and tab structure. Each module's door frame is comprised of a hoop-shaped frame adapted to be subdivided into a plurality of access ports corresponding to the same number of compartments provided in the basic casing. The doors for each access port of the frame may be installed to hinge from one side of the frame if no vertical dividers are used in the casing, or from a center hinge post fixed in the frame if vertical dividers are used in the casing.

  • Patent number: 4072374
Abstract: A fastener clip is adapted for removably mounting a plate-like member to a side wall, the plate-like member including a leading edge perpendicular to the side wall. The fastener clip comprises a base member adapted for secure mounting to the side wall and a pair of spaced resilient parallel legs projecting outwardly from the base member generally perpendicularly to the side wall. The gap between the parallel legs is generally parallel to the installed position of the plate-like member. A head is formed on the end of each leg, extending generally away from the gap. Each of the heads has at least a first inclined surface, with the first inclined surfaces oriented with respect to each other so as to form a generally "V" shaped channel for guiding the leading edge and bead of the plate-like member into the space between the parallel legs.

  • Patent number: 4072018
Abstract: In this invention there is taught the use of air tubes or fluid-filled containers to define permanent hollow tubular space within a body of solidified fill material placed in a mining excavation. The fill uses a mixture of solids and liquids with the addition of a structurally binding substance such as cement in order to make the fill substance permanent and capable of providing structural integrity and strength in the fill notwithstanding the empty tubular space. The empty tubular space can be used in accessways for mining and hauling of ore, or ventilation; it can also be used to provide volume within which to place fine component of tailings of a concentrator, or to store contaminants, or to route fill material. The tubular empty space within the fill reduces the weight, time and cost of the fill operation, and eliminates the need to drive galleries in waste rock, or of constructing costly timbered galleries or steel tubes within the stope prior to backfilling with tails.

  • Patent number: 4072016
Abstract: A method of reconstructing or reclaiming river channels which are partially filled with soft, slimy sedimentary deposits including industrial wastes which are in a semi-fluid condition or fluidized state comprising the steps of: demarcating a portion of the channel by placing a water tight wall entirely across the channel from bank to bank at an upstream and downstream location; depositing stable fill material adjacent the banks of the channel so as to displace the soft sedimentary deposits and water toward the center of the channel; and treating the displaced soft sedimentary deposit in situ beneath the overlying water so as to stabilize the entire mass. The channel may be completely reclaimed by pumping out the overlying water after the soft sedimentary deposit has been stabilized and then filling with stable material or stable material may be simply placed on the stabilized mass and the water displaced over the top of the downstream wall or over the adjacent bank.

  • Patent number: 4072015
Abstract: A method and the apparatus for implementing the method to provide temporary ground support in a mine. After an auger or other type of hole has been bored in an underground mine, at least one inflatable bladder with a fluid conduit therethrough is inserted into the hole. Once the bladder is inflated it expands to fill the hole's diameter and to act as a plug. Thereafter, fluid is forced through the fluid conduit past the bladder and into the hole cavity to act in conjunction with the bladder as a ground support for the hole. Appropriate fluid valves, meters, and conduits are placed at the input to the fluid conduit to control and measure the fluid being forced into the bladder and the hole cavity. Quick connect-disconnect couplings are provided when two or more bladders are connected seriatim and placed within the hole.

  • Patent number: 4070864
Abstract: An adjustable portable irrigation dam for use in an irrigation ditch is operative to selectively raise the water level upstream of the dam thereby permitting removal of water for irrigation of crops. The dam includes an elongated sheet support member extending transversely across the irrigation ditch and being rotatably supported in members selectively positioned on opposite sides of said ditch to resist forces thereon so that rotation of said support member will selectively raise and lower one end portion of a sheet of a flexible material into and out of blocking relation to the irrigation ditch. Retaining mechanism is connected to the sheet support member for selectively retaining the support member and the flexible sheet in a selected position.

  • Patent number: 4070716
Abstract: A foldable playpen having two end portions and two side portions which are interconnected to form a substantially square frame, and a flexible skirt forming a wall thereabout, where the two end portions are pivotable in a downward direction toward a center vertical leg located at each end, and the side portions are pivotable inwardly bringing the two folded end portions together, to thereby fold the playpen into a small, almost square area less than the area of the opened frame. The floor of the playpen is formed of spaced apart, hinged slats covered with a padding protection. The covered slats can be folded into a cylindrical shape which is adapted to receive the folded playpen frame therein, such that the entire playpen can be easily carried, such as by a handle connected thereto.

  • Patent number: 4070734
Abstract: A locking means secures together opposite ends of a baling wire for securing bales of compressed material. Predetermined lengths of baling wire are dispensed and wrapped around a bale and secured by a locking means comprising a metal clip having a raised arcuate center portion spaced outwardly from the peripheral supporting member but connected thereto at either end of the raised arcuate portion. Each arcuate connection forms a crotch between the peripheral support member and the raised arcuate member wherein each end of the baling wire passes transversely therethrough and securely locks therein.
