  • Patent number: 4653136
Abstract: A wiper for a rear view mirror includes a vertical wiper blade which traverses the mirror from side-to-side on a horizontal linear path. The wiper blade is carried on a spring-urged extension of a drive arm which is shaped to reach around one vertical edge of the mirror. The drive arm is powered by a highly simplified lightweight drive mechanism at the rear of the mirror held on a support bracket which embraces the sides of the mirror and is suspended from the top of the mirror through a sturdy top mounting bolt connected with the main mirror support bracket.

  • Patent number: 4653396
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a controller for controlling local calender roll diameters by directing temperature controlled fluid against selected slices of a rotating calender roll. The calender roll has a diameter which responds to changes in temperature. Therefore, thermal expansion or contraction, resulting from localized heating or cooling of the calender roll by the temperature controlled fluid, corrects local non-uniformities in the spacing between cooperating calender rolls. The invention conserves energy by recirculating the temperature controlled air.

  • Patent number: 4649592
Abstract: A wiper blade is provided and has a pressure distributing rod with a longitudinal groove having a substantially T-shaped form and a wiping element. The T-shaped form of the groove has a horizontal bar and a vertical bar. The wiping element has an upper portion located in the horizontal bar of said T, a medium portion partially located in the vertical bar of said T and a lower portion forming a wiping lip. The vertical bar of said T is tapered in a direction opposite to the surface to be wiped with the junction between the vertical bar and the horizontal bar of said T is defined by rounded curves. The upper portion of the wiping element is linked to the medium portion of the wiping element by a reduced portion which, in cross-section, is defined by rounded curves.

  • Patent number: 4648148
Abstract: The piston of a reciprocating wiper system on which a wiper arm is mounted is guided to be linearly displaceable in a capshaped bearing and has a slide which is longitudinally guided by two guide elements fixed to the housing. To achieve jam-free guidance on the guide elements without adjustment, the slide is guided with a capshaped bearing on one guide element in a closed manner. In contrast thereto there is a play between the slide and the second guide element in the plane defined by the guide elements.
