  • Patent number: 7164695
Abstract: A wireless transmission apparatus and a wireless transmission method capable of performing simple transmission control, in which an information transmission flow control method, instead of reporting vacant-buffer information from a receiving destination apparatus, an information transmission-source apparatus permits the transmission of a packet up to a predetermined transmission window size from the packet for which acknowledgement has not been received from an information receiving destination, and the transmission of a packet exceeding that transmission window size is inhibited. As a result, if the packet is within that transmission window size, even if the information receiving destination has not confirmed the reception of the acknowledgement (ACK) information, the packet is transmitted unconditionally.

  • Patent number: 7151776
Abstract: A telecommunications network includes a mobile station that generates wireless telecommunications traffic in radio frames for transmission to a base transceiver station. The mobile station sets a TFCI field in the radio frame to provide a class of service indication for the payload information carried in the radio frame. The TFCI field is set according to a priority of the payload information to be carried in the radio frame. The base transceiver station receives the wireless telecommunications traffic and identifies the class of service indications carried in the radio frame. The base transceiver station encapsulates the radio frame into Internet Protocol packets. The base transceiver station maps the transport format combination indicator field into a differentiated services code point field in header information of the Internet Protocol packets.

  • Patent number: 7139290
Abstract: A method for transmitting a data stream from a circuit unit to a memory cell array includes receiving the data stream and demultiplexing it in response to a control signal, thereby dividing the data stream into a storage data stream and a mask data stream. The storage data stream is then buffered into a register unit, where it is divided into data stream components buffered in corresponding data register components on the basis of a clock signal and an address signal provided to the register unit. Meanwhile, the mask data stream is buffered in a mask register of the register unit. A composite data stream is then formed by combining selected data stream components in response to information provided by a data mask unit from the mask data stream buffered in the mask register. Data corresponding to this composite data stream is then provided to the memory cell array for storage therein.

  • Patent number: 7136383
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for sending a redirect packet to a host are disclosed. In a first router that supports a virtual router protocol, a method of sending a redirect packet to a host, the redirect packet notifying the host that specific packets are to be redirected to a second router, includes receiving a packet from a host, the packet including a source address identifying the host and a destination address identifying a destination network. The first router ascertains the destination network of the packet from the destination address and obtains from a routing table an address of a next router to the packet's destination network. The first router then determines whether to send a redirect packet to the host. In accordance with one embodiment, this is performed by determining whether the next router and the host identified by the source address of the packet are on the same network.

  • Patent number: 7130317
Abstract: Method and circuitry for de-skewing data in data communication networks such as a SONET. The data is sent from a system chip to a framer chip where the data is de-skewed. To detect data skew, the system chip sends a training sequence to the framer chip. The information bits sent to the framer chip are searched in order to detect the training sequence. The training sequences contain clear transition patterns at which all 16 bits of the transmit data and the TCTL signal line are inverted. If any bit does not invert, this bit must be a skewed bit. Based on the data one clock cycle before and one clock cycle after this transition, the skewed bit can be corrected back. After the data skew is detected, a multiplexing logic circuitry is used to correct the skew based on one clock cycle either before or after the transition. The multiplexing logic circuitry includes at least three registers coupled to the inputs of the multiplexing logic circuitry.

  • Patent number: 7126938
Abstract: In a multimedia communications system (100), a multimedia-based answering system (200) lowers the amount of air interface bandwidth used to send multimedia mail messages. When a called party is unavailable, a user of a user terminal (102) is given an option to send a multimedia mail message for the unavailable called party (300, 302, 304). If the user wants to send a multimedia mail message, the bandwidth requirements for the call are renegotiated to reduce bandwidth for sending the multimedia mail message (306). The multimedia mail message is then transmitted over-the-air to a multimedia mail system (208), where the multimedia mail message is buffered, transcoded (if necessary) and stored until the called party retrieves it (308, 310).

  • Patent number: 7120167
Abstract: A sorting section 64 in a restoration section 76 sorts out a packet for an intended service from a transport stream received according to the control of a reception control section 66. The sorted out packet is provided to an output section 70 and restored to NTSC signals. An audiovisual output section 72 (such as a TV set) receives the signals and outputs images and voices. The reception control section 66 acquires information on the type of contents chosen out of the transport stream through the sorting section 64, and further compares the contents type information with restorable contents type information recorded in a restorable contents type information recording section 68. Then, a determination is made whether or not the contents intended for restoration are restorable. Depending on the determination, the manner of process applied to the contents is changed. For example, the restoration of the contents is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 7113497
Abstract: In accordance with the preferred embodiment, an access point provides dynamic load balancing of network bandwidth between access points within the 802.11 wireless LAN. The access point uses the RTS/CTS protocol to reduce the bandwidth available to a single device using an excessive amount of network bandwidth. The access point places a device that has been monopolizing a network channel on a Restricted List, and regulates bandwidth on the network by not returning a CTS to any client on the Restricted List. When the client's network usage drops below a policy driven threshold set by the number of network users, the client is removed from the list and the access point will respond to a RTS from the client with a CTS.

  • Patent number: 7106697
Abstract: Methods and systems for dynamically computing a schedule defining interconnections between ports in a switching system. In one embodiment, a switching core requests demand reports from the ingress ports. In response to this request, the ingress ports generate a series of suggested port schedules, beginning with a first choice, then a second choice, and so on. The schedules are transmitted to the switching core, beginning with the first choice. The switching core receives the first choice for each of the ports and determines whether the aggregate schedule defined by the first choices is valid. If the aggregate schedule is valid, then this schedule is implemented. If the aggregate schedule is not valid, portions of it are discarded and the next choice from each of the ports is examined to identify connections to replace the discarded portions. This process is repeated until a valid schedule is obtained.
