Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a Web browser is configured to enable a user to open a new tab and, responsively, display one or more activities in a new tab page for the user. The user can then select, from the new tab page, one or more activities to be performed. In at least some embodiments, a user can select an object in a first tab page, open a new tab page, and select an activity on the new tab page that is to be performed relative to the selected object.

Abstract: A chat space system is provided. The chat space system comprises at least one computer system and a chat space application that when executed on at least one computer system receives a plurality of audio recordings, at least some of the audio recordings formatted to initiate one of a plurality of chat themes and the other audio recordings associated with one of the chat themes, converts a chat theme audio title contained in each of the audio recordings formatted to initiate one of the chat themes to a chat theme text title and stores the audio recordings according to chat themes. In response to receiving a request from a first device for a list of chat themes, retrieves the chat theme text titles from storage and transmits the chat theme text titles to the first device.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and article of manufacture for illustrating progress in achieving a goal of a system modeled by a computer program. In one embodiment, the invention is evidenced by a method comprising the steps of displaying a widget wherein the widget comprises a center portion representing a category of data represented by the computer program and the category of data includes n data points that must be fulfilled to achieve the goal and an outer portion, comprising a segment representing each one of the n data points; and updating the widget to represent each of the n data points that has been fulfilled by delineating each segment representing a fulfilled data point requirement from each segment representing a non -fulfilled data point requirement.

Abstract: An information-processing apparatus which can display search conditions of search folders in an easy-to-see state in a list display of files/folders is provided. The information-processing apparatus has a file system that searches a file/folder which matches a search condition, and can generate and manage a search folder used to store meta data of files/folders obtained by that search, and includes a function of displaying a list of meta data of files/folders. This information-processing apparatus checks if a folder to be displayed in the list is a search folder. As a result of checking, if the folder to be displayed in the list is a search folder, the apparatus displays search conditions in fields of meta data items for which the search conditions of the search folder are set, in place of, for example, meta data.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for receiving user requests for a document job. The document job prints characteristics for making markings on a media sheet and an indication to perform fold operations for creating a folded piece. User inputs to identify the outside page designation of the folded piece, first fold direction, fold type, and an outside portion designation. The “outside page designation” indicates the side of the media sheet to contain markings to appear on the exterior of the folded piece. The input for the direction of the first fold includes whether the direction of the first fold is perpendicular to the relatively longer or shorter end of the sheet. After printing, automatic folding of the media sheet(s) into the folded piece is enabled using only the outside page designation, the direction of the first fold, the type of fold, and the outside portion designation.

Abstract: Media menu items are generated within a media interface environment. Media menu item abstractions are generated, one of the media menu item abstractions arranged in a foreground position, and one or more of the media menu item abstractions arranged in background positions in the media interface environment. Selection of a media menu items transitions to a corresponding content menu interface.

Abstract: A method of quoting content from a post in a discussion forum can include selecting content within a source post of the discussion forum and performing a drag operation. A representation of the selected content can be dragged in coordination with motion of an onscreen pointer. The method further can include inserting the selected content within an open reply form in the discussion forum upon termination of the drag operation.

Abstract: Session initiation using successive inputs is described. In an implementation, a determination is made as to when a sufficient number of successive inputs have been collected to uniquely identify two or more clients from a plurality of clients. Each of the successive inputs is input via a respective user interface output by a respective client. Responsive to the determination, an interactive session is initiated involving the two or more clients that were uniquely identified.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for controlling displays in a multi-display environment are disclosed. An exemplary method may create a request to close a display in response to a request inputted to the display system. The method may generate a display monitoring thread in response to a request inputted to the display system. The method may determine if the display has closed and create a second request to close a display when the display has not closed.

Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods for interacting with a portal page. A user interface mechanism is displayed to a user. The user interface mechanism indicates to the user that a first portlet displayed in the portal page is in a maximized state and that the remaining portlets are not in a maximized state and are accessible by the user.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, system and/or computer program product automatically extends a collaboration window. An initiation of an interactive teleconference, which utilizes a collaboration window that is displayed on two communication devices, is detected. The topic of the interactive teleconference is determined by a starting context of the interactive teleconference. The topic is associated with a related application that provides supporting information for the interactive teleconference. This supporting information and/or associated application(s) are then displayed on one or both of the two communication devices.

Abstract: A method of notifying a person using a computer includes providing a computer system including at least one sensory cueing component. The method includes defining a subliminal and a supraliminal range of at least one human sense. A cue may be defined and includes a variable attribute, and the cue is directed to the at least one human sense. An alert level may be associated with the message and the alert level may be classified as being in the subliminal or supraliminal range. The method may include a presentation methodology of the cue and the message. The cue may be initiated and presented in either the subliminal range or the supraliminal range and directed to the at least one human sense in the user's sensory environment. The user acknowledges the cue and the message in either the subliminal or supraliminal range, before the cue is removed from the user's sensory environment.

Abstract: A user interface is described, having a search box for entering a search query. The search box and other components remain stationary when conducting a search. A toolbox is provided with links to different views for conducting category-specific searches, and the links are editable.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automating the configuration of network entities with a network management system. More particularly, a graphical user interface incorporates a template to allow administrators to configure attributes of network entities. The graphical user interface and template reduce the number of blocks required to configure network entities and also minimize user errors. The graphical user interface also allows an administrator to add and manage templates for future use. The method and apparatus are also for monitoring the progress of configuring network entities and generating an operation log.

Abstract: A graphical user interface for a portable electronic device includes an application display region that displays a current application context of an application and a navigation bar adjacent to the application display region. The navigation bar includes two horizontally adjacent regions, comprising a current context region for displaying an indicator of the current application context and a prior context region for displaying an indicator of an application context preceding the current application context. The application display region simulates shifting of the application display in a first direction upon detecting user selection of the prior context region, and simulates shifting of the application display in a second direction, opposite the first direction, upon detecting user selection of an application context different from the current application context and the prior application context.

Abstract: In one example, a method includes outputting, by a computing device and for display, a text display region comprising one or more characters. The method may further include outputting, in response to receiving an indication of an input unit detected at a first location of a presence-sensitive input device, a graphical indicator comprising a representation of a threshold distance. The method may further include receiving an indication of a gesture comprising movement of the input unit from the first location to a second location, and outputting a visual change of the graphical indicator corresponding to the movement of the input unit. The method may further include determining that a distance between the first location and the second location satisfies the threshold distance, and deleting, in response to determining that the threshold distance is satisfied, the one or more characters from the text display region.

Abstract: Certain embodiments relate to providing automated, custom displays of images and tools for manipulating the images. Certain embodiments include a method for providing an automated user interface for healthcare workers. Certain embodiments of the method employ a network to execute the steps of retrieving an image from an image archive, processing the image to generate image-specific information, identifying data related to the image, mining the data related to the image, and displaying the image along with a custom selection of user interface tools.

Abstract: A method for creating and accessing a graphical user interface in the overscan area outside the area of the display normally utilized by the common operating systems. This normal display area is generally known as the “desktop”. The desktop serves as a graphical user interface to the operating system. The desktop displays images representing files, documents and applications available to the user. The desktop is restricted in the common environments to a predetermined set of resolutions (e.g., 640×480, 800×600, 1024×768) as defined by VGA and SVGA standards. Displayable borders outside this area are the overscan area.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter can provide an architecture and various mechanism whereby a communication client can facilitate a more robust collaboration experience. The communication client can provide configurable menus for launching third-party resources locally and transmitting resource invites to remote entities along with appropriate information to enable the remote entities to launch the resource locally as well. The architecture can provide for peer-to-peer collaboration sessions as well as server directed collaboration sessions.
