Abstract: An adaptable user interface is formed based on a role assumed by a user and the identification of tasks in a process that need to be performed. For each role assumed by the user, a set of tasks assigned to the role is identified. Each task is evaluated to determine if it is an active task that needs to be performed in one or more processes. For each active task, an element is added to the user interface.

Abstract: A wireless handheld communication device having a housing containing a display screen located above a physical keyboard. The keyboard includes a plurality of physical keys and corresponding indicia. Some of the keys are associated with alphabetic characters corresponding to a QWERTY array of letters A-Z and some are associated with numeric characters 0-9 corresponding to a telephone keypad arrangement. At least some of the keys associated with numeric characters are overlaid on the physical keys associated with alphabetic characters. A microprocessor is included that runs the device in at least a telephony mode, an email mode and at least one additional mode. The microprocessor displays a key-function map on the display screen indicative of enabled functions associated with particular physical keys of the keyboard which are different from any function signified by the indicia associated with the respective particular physical key.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system and/or computer program product manages data in a webpage. A processor receives an input to an input box located in a first webpage on a first network. This input is analyzed to determine whether there is match between a subject topic of the entered data and a first interest window on the first webpage, where the first interest window is reserved for data entries that are described by the subject topic. In response to a processor being unable to determine the subject topic of the entered data in the text entry box, the processor creates a new interest window in the first webpage.

Abstract: A video player for tagged online video includes a means for receiving a stream of video data and tag data. The tag data includes tag details including for each tag a link to display during video playback and a location at which to display the link. A video display output displays the video data, a user-selectable tag display GUI option, and selectively, the tag data. The video player is adapted to detect a selection of one of at least a first and a second option via the user-selectable tag display GUI option.

Abstract: A system for configuring objects such as buttons for screens presented in a touch screen display. The configuration may be automatically based on preset styles. The graphical elements or icons and textual elements may be created once but used multiple times in various places. Multiple graphical and textual elements may be displayed on any button of the screens. The system may be based on the use of a predefined set of button styles that define the layout of each textual and graphical element in basic terms, such as left, right, and center. These styles do not necessarily prescribe a size, but a layout of the elements. The sizing, layout, justification, and clipping of each element may be determined by the button style. For each button style, the assigned textual and graphical elements may be automatically placed for the best or optimal layout and fit.

Abstract: Examples of systems and methods for providing a cursor for a touch-screen at a client device are disclosed. An apparatus may comprise a remote view module configured to generate a remote view based on display output from a remote server, a local view module configured to generate a cursor, the cursor including a finger pad and a pointer, configured to monitor movements of a user's finger on a local display at a local client device, configured to move the finger pad and the pointer together on the local display to track movements of the user's finger, configured to receive user inputs to the cursor from the local display, and configured to facilitate sending coordinates of the pointer and the received user inputs to the remote server, and a display module configured to provide, to the local display, a composite view comprising the cursor and the remote view.

Abstract: A system and method for the aggregation, standardization and extension of social networking contacts to enhance a television consumer experience are described. An embodiment of a system includes a device connected to one or more devices with social networking technology. The device is accessed by a user to invite one or more contacts to join an aggregated social network via an aggregated social networking contact list. The aggregated social networking contact list is to include all contacts associated with the one or more social networking technology devices. The device is to receive and store aggregated social network content and to receive main content. The device is to cause the display of the stored aggregated social network content overlayed on the main content via a user interface on a display device. Abstract: A method and system for adapting automated interactions that allows the interactive behavior of an automated system, or the nature of the interaction elements implemented thereon, to be adapted to properties and/or behaviors of users of such systems in order to enhance operating convenience. Interaction adaptation is performed with reference to user groups to which the users are allocated.

Abstract: Users create profiles containing their interests, professional qualifications, and/or personal information. When users encounter each other in the virtual environment, the information contained in the personal profiles is used to provide visual indications of the profile information so that other users know some modicum of information about the user associated with the Avatar. The user associated with the personal profile may control what information is provided publicly and what information is provided privately. Information in other users' profiles may be filtered to enable relevant information to be presented to the user. Filtering may be explicit and based on user-defined criteria. Filtering may be inherent as well and implemented to select visual indications based on similarities between the user's profile information and the other users' profile information.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for providing feedback and guidance to touch screen device users to improve the text entry user experience and performance. According to one embodiment, a method comprises receiving a text entry, receiving input on a touch screen in the form of a first single touch input located over a word of previously entered text, and presenting the user with one or more suggestion candidates indicated possible replacement words related to the selected word. The user can then select one of the suggestion candidates using a second single touch input to replace the selected word with a word associated with the selected suggestion candidate.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to managing viewer entered comments about a specific word, phrase, picture, or other multimedia content, such as a picture, sound, or video clip, in an article, document, and/or a web page. A document is presented to a viewer, wherein the document includes special highlighting (e.g., font type/size, underlining, colors, and the like) of certain portions of the document defining one or more target objects. The highlighted portions are determined for the viewer according to a plurality of unique lists of target objects defined by an author of the multimedia content. The viewer selects the target object and a list of recent comments related specifically to the selected target object is displayed. The viewer may also enter comments directly related to the same or a different target object. Advertisements related to the target objects may be displayed to the user when the user selects the target object.

The electronic apparatus includes a total-number obtaining unit to obtain information about a total number of items to be provided from a source; a first display unit to display undetermined representation images on a screen if it is determined that some of the representation images displayed on the screen have been changed; a determining unit to determine whether change of the representation images displayed on the screen has stopped; and a second display unit to display the representation images by obtaining, from the source, information to display the representation images to be newly displayed on the screen if the determining unit determines that change of the representation images displayed on the screen has stopped.

Abstract: A method for providing an activity management tool includes receiving a user request for an activity overview, identifying currently running applications, applications that are likely to be run in the future, and open windows of the currently running applications. The method further includes presenting an activity overview graphical user interface (GUI) having a first area and a second area. The first area includes visual indicators of the currently running applications and the applications likely to be run in the future. The second area includes the open windows of the currently running applications, where the open windows are resized and positioned in such a way as to be simultaneously viewable by the user.

Abstract: There is provided an image displaying device including a first display area on which thumbnail images respectively corresponding to a plurality of pieces of image data are displayed, the thumbnail images being selectable on the first display area; a second display area on which an image corresponding to one of the thumbnail images selected through the first display area is displayed; a setting unit to set an enlargement condition of the image being displayed on the second display area, the enlargement condition including an enlarging factor; a storing unit to store the enlargement condition; and a display control unit configured such that in response to selection of one of the thumbnail images, the display control unit displays the image corresponding to a selected thumbnail image in accordance with the stored enlargement condition.

Abstract: A method for providing a workspace management tool includes presenting a workspace overview graphical user interface (GUI) having a first area and a second area. The first area includes visual indicators of favorite applications of a user, and the second area includes multiple regions, each region representing a different work space. The method further includes receiving, via the workspace overview GUI, a user request to open a new window for one of the favorite applications in a first work space, adding the new window to the first work space, and presenting the new window in a reduced form in a region representing the first work space without overlapping other open windows of the first work space.

Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed herein for assigning familiar pseudonames to anonymous user members in a shared online environment. Creation of a name pool is provided for using a programmed processor disposed in a computing device. The name pool includes familiar names that may be contextually relevant to a group of user members in the shared online environment. A name from the name pool is provided for assignment to an anonymous user member in the shared online environment, where assignment of the name is, at least in part, based on characteristics of the anonymous user member relative to the shared online environment.

Abstract: A method including receiving an input of a character from a virtual keyboard rendered on a display, generating a set of characters that includes the character, and displaying the generated set of characters at a location associated with a key of the virtual keyboard of the display which corresponds to a subsequent candidate input character. An electronic device including a display having a virtual keyboard rendered thereupon and a processor, the processor being configured to perform the method. Also disclosed is a keyboard, including a plurality of keys, each key corresponding to one or more different characters of a plurality of characters, wherein in response to receiving an input of a character, the keyboard is configured to perform the method.

Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for implementing a single-axis window manager on a mobile computing device to view and access multiple applications in a limited display area utilizing limited input capabilities. The mobile computing device initializes a virtual display space having a first dimension with a fixed size. For example, the virtual display space is initialized to have a horizontal dimension equal to the horizontal dimension of the display screen. At least one window is generated having a fixed size in the first dimension but also sizeable in a second direction. For example, the at least one window has a fixed horizontal dimension but is vertically sizeable. The at least one window is then inserted into the virtual display space and displayed on a display device.

Abstract: Computer-readable media and computerized methods for utilizing an awareness of video content within a media file to incorporate an advertisement therein are provided. Building the video-content awareness involves performing an offline authoring process to generate a trajectory. In particular, the offline authoring process includes targeting an object appearing in the video content, tracking movement of the object over a sequence of frames within the media file, and, based on the tracked movement, writing locations of the object to the trajectory. In an online rendering process, invoked upon initiating play of the media file, the advertisement is automatically selected and dynamically placed on top of the video content as a function of the locations within the trajectory. Accordingly, by repositioning the advertisement (typically an animation) within the video content based on the movement of the object, an illusion that the advertisement visually interacts with the object is generated.

Abstract: A user interface method and apparatus for a mobile terminal having a touchscreen are provided. The apparatus and method improve interactivity using a toolbar menu mode screen which allows a user to execute functions and commands with drag and drop behaviors on the touchscreen to graphical objects such as toolbar, icons, and other active objects. An interface apparatus includes a touchscreen unit that displays a screen including a second region for presenting a toolbar having at least one User Interface (UI) element representing a specific function and a first region for activating, when the UI element is dragged from the toolbar and dropped in the first region on the touchscreen, the function represented by the UI element. The interface apparatus also includes a control unit which detects a drag and drop action of the UI element and activates, when the drag and drop action is detected, the function associated with the UI element in the form of an active function object.
