Abstract: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are discussed. According to an embodiment, the mobile terminal includes a display unit configured to display a plurality of selectable items including a first selectable item and a second selectable item, each of the first and second selectable items corresponding to at least one function to be performed; and a controller configured to receive a user's selection of at least one of the first and second selectable items, to perform the at least one function corresponding to the user's selection, and to maintain at least part of the user's selection even after the at least one function is performed.

Abstract: Methods, systems and graphical user interfaces that facilitate activation of mobile devices, such as communication devices or multi-function devices, via computers are disclosed. According to one embodiment, activation of a mobile device with respect to a wireless service provider can be performed by users through use of computers (e.g., personal computers) that communicate with a remotely located activation server. According to another embodiment, graphical user interfaces can be presented to users so as to enable end users to easily activate mobile devices.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is disclosed. The method includes receiving a command generated by selection of a control on a web page displayed on a user device, identifying a registered account associated with the user device, and adding display content associated with the control to a personalized page associated with the registered account based on the selection of the control, without requiring the user device to navigate to a configuration screen.

It is determined whether the activity of an avatar is relevant to a behavior rule for a virtual universe. If the activity is determined to be relevant to the rule, the rule is customized for the avatar as a function of individual avatar data associated with the avatar, and it is determined whether the activity exceeds a violation threshold of the customized rule. If the activity is determined to exceed the customized rule violation threshold, an appropriate action is taken as specified by the customized rule.

Abstract: A system, computer program and method for developing a graphical user interface (GUI) in a computer program. The invention allows developers to control the properties of interface components according to the state of a program during execution. According to the invention, a GUI development environment may be configured to provide a GUI builder for creating the GUI, display an interface component with at least one interface component property to be instantiated in the GUI, display a property interface to input at least one value for the interface component property in response to an event detectable by the computer program during GUI program execution, and automatically generate GUI program code effectuating the value for the interface component property in response to the event detectable by the computer program during GUI program execution.

Abstract: A digital television (DTV) and a method of providing a GUI using the DTV are disclosed. The method of providing a GUI in a DTV comprises: first displaying an image on a display unit provided on the DTV; receiving a display command of a first GUI; and second displaying the image and the first GUI such that a different spatial depth is formed between the image and the first GUI according to the received display command.

Rendering of an object may change based on the data value to be represented, and an object may be clipped when displayed.

The method includes receiving a request from a user to play a media asset, detecting capabilities of the playback device, detecting playback environment acoustic characteristics, optimizing media playback settings for the playback device and the playback environment characteristics, preparing the media asset for playback on the playback device, and transferring the prepared media asset to the playback device for playback. The method can further transfer optimized playback settings to the playback device. Media asset preparation can be based at least in part on the optimized playback settings. A playback profile can store environment characteristics and playback device capabilities. The method continuously detects changes in the playback environment characteristics, and optimizes media playback settings when detected changes exceed a threshold.

Abstract: A system and method for dynamic zoom adjustment based, in part, upon: the raster data in the user selected local area is disclosed; and/or the knowledge of a prevailing font size in a user selected region such that the text in that region is enlarged to be just readable. To achieve this, the detail in the local area is examined and a zoom factor is calculated that depends on the image detail and/or the viewing screen resolution. A document server may be employed to develop the information needed to enable this functionality. In one embodiment, the information is developed by RIPping the document, and then storing a spatial map of localized details (e.g., font sizes at several display resolutions) to automatically adjust a zoom level or factor and thereby facilitate navigation and reading.
