Abstract: Systems and methods for information exchange using generic data streams, wherein a data stream is sent from one computer system to another, and the receiving computer system is not aware of the structure of the information in the data stream. A header of the data stream includes a description of a data object. A body of the data stream includes information for instances of a data object stored on a computer system. The object is compliant with the description provided in the header of the data stream. The information in the body of the stream is extracted based on the description provided in the header of the data stream. A user interface (UI) is dynamically created based on the description of data object to display portions of the received information, and further to allow a user to change the information.
Abstract: A multifunction device displays a plurality of selectable user interface objects. Each respective selectable user interface object has a respective activation region. The device detects a first input; and, in response to detecting the first input, the device selects the first selectable user interface object and the device additionally: deactivates the activation region of the first selectable user interface object, or reduces the activation region of the first selectable user interface object to a smaller area than the default activation region. The device also enlarges an activation region of a selectable user interface object that is adjacent to the first selectable user interface object such that the enlarged activation region of the adjacent selectable user interface object occupies at least a portion of an area previously occupied by the default activation region of the first selectable user interface object.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for using the existing Universal Resource Identifier (URI) history feature of browsers to maintain user preference settings, or other state information, used by one or more web sites or other systems. In one embodiment, when a user makes a particular preference selection on a web site, the user's selection is recorded in the browser's URI history by causing the browser to access a URI (or a set of URIs) representing the particular selection. The same or a different web site may subsequently test the browser's URI history for this particular URI by including appropriate JavaScript or other executable code in a page requested by the browser. Depending upon the outcome of this test, the web site and/or the page's executable code may take an appropriate action or inaction consistent with the preference selection.
Abstract: A system and method for rendering different views of an incident, problem or change (IPC) ticket relating to an incident based on attributes of the user looking at or working with the ticket includes determining relevant information. An environment related to a usage by the user is determined. Based upon the relevant information and the environment, an IPC ticket is generated with different views where only a relevant view of the different views is provided to each particular user.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method an a device for mapping a virtual user input interface to a physical user input interface. The method is provided for mapping a virtual user input interface to a physical user input interface on a mobile terminal device. The mobile terminal device comprises a first physical user input interface, a display and a processing unit being connected to said display and said physical user interface, wherein an application is configured for use with a second user interface. The method of the invention comprises detecting an event indicative of an application to be executed that is configured for use with said second user interface and displaying a virtual user input interface representing said second user input interface on said display. If a physical user input is received on said first physical user input interface, it is mapping to said displayed virtual user input interface, and displayed as an indication of a virtual input on said displayed virtual user input interface.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of information technologies, discloses a method and an apparatus for displaying a storage device partition, which facilitate user operations among storage devices.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting communication of information through a graphical user interface displays a graphical user interface that includes a trusted interaction window. In one example, the method includes continuously determining whether information has been overlayed on top of at least a portion of the displayed trusted interaction window and then disabling an operation being requested when an overlay condition has been determined. In one example, the trusted interaction window is maintained to be the top most window when it is called by an application, for example, during an online transaction, or any other suitable action. The trusted interaction window may be generated via a browser, or operating system, or any other suitable application. As such, the trusted interaction window detects when another window is overlayed on top of it, such as a chromeless window, thereby preventing an unscrupulous party from tricking the user or obtaining sensitive information.
Abstract: A user of an instant messaging system may store names of other users of the instant messaging system on a participant list (which may be referred to as a “buddy list”), and the names may be categorized into one or more groups. Similarly, a user of a mobile device, such as a mobile telephone, may store contact information about people on the mobile device. Information describing the on-line presence of the user within the instant messaging system or the geographic location of a mobile device, such as a mobile telephone associated with the user, may be disseminated to users on the participant list or to people on the contact list based on notification information that is associated with groups of users or contacts.
Abstract: Generation and synchronization of offline three-dimensional (3D) virtual world content that include hosting 3D virtual world content, providing access to a portion of the 3D virtual world content, allowing storing offline of a copy of the accessed portion of the 3D virtual world content, and receiving changes made in the stored offline copy of the accessed portion of the 3D virtual world content and synchronizing the received changes with the hosted 3D virtual world content. The accessed portion of the 3D virtual world content may be recreated offline using a rendering engine on a processing device offline from the hosted 3D virtual world.

Abstract: A display control apparatus includes the following elements. An accepting unit accepts selection of one of objects displayed in a window in either a cursor mode, in which a cursor is moved to select an object, or a pointer mode, in which a pointer is moved to select an object, one of the modes being selected by a user. When an instruction to switch the pointer mode to the cursor mode is given, a display control unit erases the pointer and displays the cursor such that the cursor selects an object closest to a position where the pointer was displayed just before being erased.
Abstract: Methods for implementing an auto-complete feature for contact entry on mobile devices are described. In some embodiments, a mobile device downloads from a server a number of contacts associated with a user, wherein the number of contacts is a subset of contacts in a contact list of the user. Upon receiving a partial contact entry from the user that includes a string of one or more characters, the mobile device identifies contacts from the downloaded contacts matching the partial entry. The mobile device displays no more than a preset number of matching contacts on the display of the mobile device at any one time, in a particular order, with an option for the user to display and fetch for more matching contacts. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: An improved user interface is provided for displaying selectable software functionality controls of a database application. When a task-based functionality tab is selected from the user interface, selectable functionality controls provided by the associated database application for performing aspects of a task related to the selected tab are presented in a ribbon-shaped user interface above a workspace in which a user is entering or editing data. Upon selection of a different task-based functionality tab, the presentation of functionality controls associated with the first task is removed, and selectable functionality controls associated with the second selected task-based functionality tab are presented in the user interface. The selectable functionality controls presented in the user interface are grouped into logical groupings for more efficient utilization.
