  • Patent number: 5170923
Abstract: A nosepiece assembly for a blind pull-through riveting tool has long nosepiece jaws (11a, 11a) for access into deep, narrow cavities. The inside of the nosepiece assembly is provided with a device for locking the jaws together at least when a rivet is being installed. The locking device includes a frusto-conical locking face (35) on the front end of a tube (34) fixed to the tool barrel (18), co-operating with two half frusto-conical faces on the inside of the jaws. The locking faces are normally urged out of engagement by the spring (20) and are urged into locking engagement by the rearwards axial force exerted on the jaw anvil (25) by the head (33) of the rivet being installed. In a modification, the spring (20) normally urges the locking faces (35, 36) into engagement, and they are urged out of engagement by the next rivet being fed forwardly through the anvil parts (13, 13).

  • Patent number: 5169045
Abstract: A manually-operated tile cutter comprises mainly a base, a measuring piece, and a guiding bar. The base is provided at one end thereof with a stopper consisting of a stopper face perpendicular to the cutting direction and of a guide slot parallel to the stopper face. The measuring piece is composed of a length measuring portion and an angle measuring portion disposed at one end of the length measuring portion. The length measuring portoin is disposed slidably in the guide slot. The guiding bar is pivotally arranged on the angle measuring portion so as to point out on the angle measuring portion the angle formed by the guiding bar and the length measuring portion. The cutter therefore guides and holds the tile intended to be cut in a vertical manner. The guiding bar can be also used to point out the angle and to support the tile when the cutter is doing an angular cutting of the tile.

  • Patent number: 5161442
Abstract: A cross cutter for a running web of paper which is transported along a horizontal path has an upper rotary knife holder above and a lower rotary knife holder below the horizontal path. The holders carry knives which extend transversely of the path, and each holder further carries an elastic lip-shaped deflector which is located behind the respective knife and serves to maintain the leader of the web behind the separated length of the web in or close to the path so that the leader can enter a transporting unit which advances the severed lengths of the web to a stacking or other processing station. The lower deflector is installed immediately behind and the upper deflector is spaced apart from the rear side of the respective knife.

  • Patent number: 5158001
Abstract: A power table tool having an outlet port positioned relative to the cutting member of the tool so that the dust and other debris generated by the cutting member can be removed from the interior of the tool assembly through an exhaust system. A guard member is provided for the outlet port to prevent insertion of extraneous matter into the interior of the tool as well as to protect the outlet from clogging as a result of the removal of the sawdust and other debris from the interior. The guard member is structured in a manner such that the area of the openings presented in the guard member is greater than about 100% of the area of the outlet port itself. The port is specifically aligned relative to the cutting member in order to enhance the removal of the sawdust and debris from the interior of the tool.

  • Patent number: 5140879
Abstract: A system is provided which utilizes a plurality of sequentially controlled magnetic repulsion punches arranged in a variable array to punch a constantly moving substrate. These punches are disposed adjacent the constant velocity substrate on which holes, or vias are formed as the punches are sequentially fired. The array of punches is placed at an angle with respect to the perpendicular of the direction of movement of the substrate. Thus, a delay is present between the time when the first punch must be fired and the firing of subsequent punches, due to the angle of the array. Therefore, due to this delay between the time the first punch must energized, and the energizing of subsequent punches a single power supply is capable of providing energy to a group of punches.

  • Patent number: 5138922
Abstract: The balancing weight for the balancing of the rotating forces is connected via link members to respective balancing weights for the balancing of the oscillating forces. The balancing weights for the balancing of the oscillating forces are each pivotable mounted to the machine frame at one end via projections. At the respective opposite ends they include further projections, via which those ends are pivotably connected to each other via a pivot member. This forms the guiding of the movement of the balancing weights.

  • Patent number: 5136905
Abstract: A gasket punch and method for forming a gasket hole. The gasket punch is a single piece having a spherical head and a handle whereby the punch may be used to form gasket holes of various sizes up to the spherical head diameter with the gasket material on the machine part or platen and without the necessity of first forming an error prone pattern in the gasket material. The handle may have a diameter which is less than the spherical head diameter whereby the handle may be easily held and manipulated and the amount of material of which the punch is composed may be minimized. In order to provide a suitably small handle diameter without unnecessarily reducing strength and toughness, the gasket punch is preferably composed of forged steel.
