  • Patent number: 4141089
Abstract: A swimming pool lift installation for the handicapped employs a platform for carrying a wheelchair that is lowered and elevated with the platform so that a handicapped person can sit on his chair and be lowered into the pool for swimming away from the chair and can leave the pool by swimming back into the wheelchair. The chair is releasably secured to the platform so that there is no danger of it being rendered unstable by its buoyancy in the water and so that it can be wheeled on and off the platform. A water hydraulic system operates the lift to avoid contamination of the pool.

  • Patent number: 4141391
Abstract: This system is economic and trouble free and has a cylindrical wall chamber formed on the top of an inverted water bottle that is elevated above the floor. A chamber communicates with the water bottle through a hole formed therein. Near the lower end of the cylindrical wall an opening is formed to allow a short tube to extend through the wall substantially tangent thereto. Above the tube and fixed to the interior of the wall is an apertured disc. Between the apertured disc and the bottom of the chamber is disposed a spiral wall with one end fixed to the cylindrical wall so that a spiral passageway is formed, communicating with the tube. Within the chamber is placed a piston which is free to slide axially up and down. Hanging from the underside of the piston is a rod which holds a valve gate disposed to seal the opening between the bottle and chamber. The rod also supports, on its lower end, a stopper or plug which is disposed to seal the neck of the bottle.

The tube has a forward end and a rear end extending outwardly away from the housing. A nonmagnetic stylus arm extends through the tube forward end. A jeweled stylus is mounted to the front of the arm. The rear end of the arm passes through an elastomeric damper positioned within the tube. The damper serves as a universal pivot joint for the arm. The damper comprises a cylindrical member having a forward edge and a rear edge. The tube is crimped along a circular crimp line engaging the damper intermediate the forward and rear edges with the portions of the damper that do not engage the crimp also being free of the tube. A magnetic member is positioned within the tube secured to the arm and adapted to move therewith in response to motion of the jeweled stylus and following the grooves of a record.

  • Patent number: 4140377
Abstract: A viewer is provided which is especially adapted for viewing dental X-ray films taken of the mouth of a patient. The viewer is provided with a throat extending inwardly from the front thereof which vertically divides the housing into upper and lower sections. A display screen is provided on the front of the upper section of the housing with a light compartment for a light source on the side thereof. The light source includes a dichroic filter for filtering out the infrared rays of the high intensity light provided and a condensing lens for projecting the visible rays down through a film located in the throat to provide an image bearing beam. In the lower section of the housing, a mirror located below the film horizontally reflects the image bearing beam through a projection lens onto a second mirror which directs the image bearing beam rearwardly and upwardly onto a rear mirror located on the upper section of the housing opposite the screen.

  • Patent number: 4139948
Abstract: A parallelepiped housing contains a displacement-transfer plate being slidable along the surface, and a pair of micrometer heads of the same shape and same size are mounted on a rear plate of said housing headed toward the front in said housing maintaining parallel and definite distance to one another.A differential lever is formed in such a length that the pivot parts at each tip of said pair of micrometer heads are rendered to serve as fulcrums, respectively, and a non-bisected part in the lengthwise direction of said lever is rotatably and pivotally supported as a point of application at the said displacement-transfer plate.A rectangular slider block is so constructed as to be guided along side plates and a base plate forming said housing, and is always pulled rearwards by a resilient means. Said slider block and said displacement-transfer plate are fastened via a determined space.Whereby coarse and fine adjustable displacements are realized at the displacement-transfer plate.

  • Patent number: 4139005
Abstract: A safety release pipe cap for emergency venting of fluids under excessive temperatures by melting out a replaceable portion. In one embodiment the replaceable portion is arranged to yield under excessive pressure differentials on its opposed faces. The cap is employed on tanks. A threaded ferrule is provided with a flange overlying the end of a pipe with which it is threadingly engaged to clamp the periphery of a separable disk of thermally fusible material against the pipe end. When the disk is of a yieldable plastic it functions as a seal gasket on the pipe end and will yield under pressure differentials to provide a visual indication of such differentials by material and wall thickness characteristics as well as the geometry of the disk. Temperature fusing can be controlled by these characteristics and particularly the melting temperature of the plastic.
