  • Patent number: 4155176
Abstract: The invention is a process and a device for measuring and registering the geometric state of a track in the course of alignment of the track with an aligning machine. The distance between a point on the already aligned track and a straight line defined by two points, one of which is on the already aligned track and one of which is on the part of the track to be aligned, is measured, and the value is registered after each alignment operation.

  • Patent number: 4153995
Abstract: A navigation plotter for use with a map or chart having depicted thereon a line depicting a desired course and a compass rose. The plotter comprises a protractor designating angular graduations about a center axis. A linear scale member is mounted upon the protractor for rotation about the central axis. A grid on the linear scale member includes a plurality of sets of parallel lines. The respective sets of lines intersect one another repetitively and serve as visual guides to assist in aligning the linear scale member by arranging one set of lines parallel to the desired course while the protractor is held in registration with the compass rose. A series of radial lines on the linear scale member project from the central axis and are respectively parallel to the individual sets of lines in the grid. The radial lines register visually with the protractor to indicate the compass bearing corresponding to the selected course on the map.

  • Patent number: 4154264
Abstract: An improved water hammer suppressor which is generally in the form of a first vertical tube closed at its upper end connected into a water distribution piping system at its reduced lower end portion and which in normal operation eventually becomes water logged and must be drained. To facilitate efficient draining of the device when the piping system is drained, a second smaller diameter tube is attached to the tube wall in the reduced diameter portion which extends from the outer end thereof into the main larger diameter portion thereof so as to enter the liquid held therein and cause draining thereof from the suppressor.

  • Patent number: 4153085
Abstract: A dispensing nozzle for delivering fuel to selective fuel tanks has a control rod which must be displaced longitudinally by a restrictor plate in the fill tube of the fuel tank before the manual lever of the dispensing nozzle is effective to open the flow controlling valve of the dispensing nozzle. Thus, the introduction of one grade of fuel into a tank not having a restrictor plate and requiring a different grade of fuel is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4153083
Abstract: Gas to be stored flows along a gas feed line and into a cylinder containing a solvent for the gas. During its passage along the gas feed line, the gas flows through a dosing device which, on the one hand, permits a substantially adiabatic expansion and concomitant cooling of the gas to occur and, on the other hand, automatically regulates the flow rate of the gas in dependence upon the pressure difference across the dosing device. The pressure upstream of the dosing device is maintained constant regardless of the pressure downstream thereof, which latter pressure is variable due to the fact that dissolution of the gas generates heat and an accompanying increase in the pressure inside the cylinder. The constant pressure upstream of the dosing device is slightly higher than the final pressure inside the cylinder when the latter has been filled.

  • Patent number: 4151864
Abstract: An adapter for connecting a corrugated hose, e.g., a washing machine drain hose, to a standpipe has an elongated tube with a bell at one end for holding and retaining the corrugated hose. A curved support extends from the bell end of the tube and selectively supports the hose in a desired curve of from 0.degree. to 180.degree.. A sliding annular retainer ring slides on the curved support and selectively locks the corrugated hose in the chosen position. Outwardly extending ears on the end of the curved support hold the retainer ring on the adapter. The tube has longitudinal ribs over at least a portion of its length. The ribs provide additional strength and tapered portions on the ribs prevent the tube from jamming in a standpipe and provide for easy release. The ribs have enough friction to retain the tube in the standpipe in cooperation with the weight of the assembly and the water therein to prevent the hose from being forced from the standpipe by the jet effect of water moving therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4150831
Abstract: A toy record player having an upwardly biassed, vertically moveable shaft, the upper end of which defines a push button for starting the player and which, also, is a record holder for holding and rotating a record disc. The record disc has a plurality of recording grooves on its lower face and carries marks representing the starting position of respective recording grooves on its upper face. A stylus point, which indicates the position of a tone arm, is carried thereby. The stylus is upwardly directed to confront the lower face of the record disc. Depression of the push button closes a circuit for a driving motor as well as lowering a record disc into engagement with the stylus. As the tone arm is driven to the final position of sound reproduction, it presses a latch to disengage the latter from a circumferential groove, so that the shaft is allowed to be returned upwardly, by the bias, to reset the player to its starting condition.
