    Abstract: The present invention relates to a solid composition comprising a water soluble chlorite salt, an oxidizing chlorine releasing agent, selected among sodium- or potassium-dichloro-s-triazinetrione or trichloro-s-triazinetrione, and a proton donor serving as a water soluble agent capable of lowering the pH of the aqueous solution to less than 3. The chlorite salt is advantageously selected among the sodium and potassium salts. The proton donor is advantageously selected among sodium- or potassium-hydrogen sulphates and pyrosulphates or among citric acid and malic acid. In said composition, the stochiomolecular ratio of the various components is suitably chlorite salt: oxidizing chlorine releasing agent: proton donor 4:1:3. The invention relates also to an aqueous solution in which the above composition is dissolved.

    Abstract: A method for inhibiting corrosion in an aqueous medium is disclosed. The method comprises incorporating into the medium an amount of a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor sufficient to inhibit corrosion. The corrosion inhibitor comprises an N-ethoxy,2-substituted imidazoline, the N-ethoxy substituent having from one to about thirty ethoxy units and the 2-substituent being an unsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty chain of from about six to about thirty carbons. If the medium is sweet, the inhibitor further comprises a phosphate ester derived from a water-soluble oxyethylated, straight chain alcohol of from about two to about thirty carbons. Corrosion inhibitor compositions useful in such method are also disclosed.

The corrosion inhibitor formulations have vapor pressures which provide ongoing corrosion protection for susceptible articles situated favorably with respect to the composite.

    Abstract: Polyglycolate compounds are provided having the general structure: ##STR1## wherein n is an integer from 2 to about 10; R is C.sub.1-20 linear or branched alkyl, alkoxylated alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, substituted aryl; R' and R" are independently H, C.sub.1-20 alkyl, aryl, C.sub.1-20 alkylaryl, substituted aryl, and NR.sub.3.sup..alpha.+, wherein R.sup..alpha. is C.sub.1-30 alkyl; and L is a leaving group displaceable in a peroxygen bleaching solution by perhydroxide anion. When this compound is combined with a source of peroxygen in aqueous solution, then a plurality of stain removing peracids are formed. Such peracids are formed substantially sequentially beginning with the carbonyl adjacent to the leaving group L. Thus, a first stain removing peracid having the structure ##STR2## will be formed in amounts approaching quantitative yield.
