  • Patent number: 9836924
Abstract: A bonusing system used in a casino environment is described. The bonusing system enables a player to make secondary wagers on a bonus outcome. In one embodiment, the bonusing system can include a bonusing device which is installed at a gaming table at which a card game is played, such as baccarat or black jack. In the card game, the player makes a primary wager on an outcome of a card hand. The bonusing device can be configured to select a bonus card hand from among a subset of card hands associated with the card game and output the selected bonus hand. Based upon one or more of a player's card hand, a dealer's card hand, the bonus card hand or combinations thereof, the bonusing device can determine whether a bonus is to be awarded. The bonus amount awarded can depend on the amount of the secondary wager.

  • Patent number: 9832442
Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are provided to arbitrate network bandwidth that is shared between multiple video players executing concurrently on one or more client platforms that each have at least one video data stream supplied over a data network. An amount of bandwidth available from the data network is determined. An arbitration module calculates whether the selected video players can sustain a video playback quality above a pre-defined threshold using the determined amount of bandwidth available, and a modify playback message is sent to at least one video player when the video playback quality is not sustainable. Various implementations could prioritize bandwidth based upon the content presented so that high-bandwidth scenes (e.g., action sequences) receive more bandwidth than more static scenes.

  • Patent number: 9827488
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for an automatic user or friend recommendation system that matches players that have compatible play styles, play schedules, or the like. Behavioral data is collected or entered from players, and a profile of each player is created and compared to calculate a compatibility score. If the compatibility score exceeds a predetermined threshold, then the players are marked as compatible, or a degree of compatibility may be calculated and displayed as well. Users can edit their profile, e.g., on a web application or in-game. Users may also interact with optional and incremental demographic survey questions as they log in. A notification of compatible players may be provided via the web application or via an in-game indication. For example, a glow may appear around a compatible player, or compatible players may be displayed in a list, such as an instant messaging client.

  • Patent number: 9808714
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to the implementation of a gaming environment including gaming servers for instantiating instances of games requested by a user. The gaming environment includes a game device for obtaining game inputs corresponding to the instantiated game. Additionally, the gaming environment includes one or more output devices for obtaining outputs generated by the processing of the inputs by the gaming server. Illustratively, the game device and one or more output devices form game device groups. Within each game device group, the inputs obtained by game device are transmitted independent of the outputs transmitted to the output devices. The transmission of input data from the game device and the transmission of the output audio data, output video data or other data from the gaming server may be individually optimized.

  • Patent number: 9773384
Abstract: A method in a gaming system includes receiving a wager and displaying an array having a plurality of array positions. The array positions are populated by symbols located on symbol-bearing reels, including an oversized symbol occupying a plurality of reel-symbol positions on one of the reels and having an image extending over those reel-symbol positions. The method also includes determining whether the oversized symbol will be only partially displayed in the array based on a rest location determined for the oversized symbol. If the oversized symbol will be only partially displayed in the array, the image of the oversized symbol is graphically reconfigured. The method includes spinning and stopping the reels to place the symbols in the determined rest locations. The first portion of the oversized symbol is displayed in the array with the graphically reconfigured image. The method also includes awarding a payout.

  • Patent number: 9761083
Abstract: A method for mobile game play includes determining a location of a mobile device from one or more of GPS, NFC, RFID, or Bluetooth. An accuracy value of the location of the mobile device is determined. A region of confidence within which the mobile device is known to be within is determined based on the determined accuracy value. The region of confidence is substantially circular with a center at the determined location and a radius that is proportional in length to the determined accuracy value. An extent to which the region of confidence is within one or more pertinent jurisdictions is determined. Mobile game play is permitted when it is determined that the region of confidence is entirely within the one or more pertinent jurisdictions.

  • Patent number: 9747751
Abstract: A gaming machine comprises a display and a game control to control images of symbols to be displayed on the display. Symbols are stored for positioning in an array. The symbols are divided into game-specific standard symbols and bonus symbols and are organized to define a bonusing scheme for filling fixed positions of the array. The game control randomly selects portions of the array for displaying images of the symbols in a matrix format on the display during a play of the game, and associates symbols within paylines of the matrix to provide play outcomes in accordance with the bonusing scheme and a paytable prescribed for the particular game. Different play options have a prescribed set of symbols associated with them. Each set is designed with a predetermined bonusing scheme, where the bonusing schemes are different between at least some of the play options and their associated set of symbols.

  • Patent number: 9737795
Abstract: A computerized system and method for measuring physical activity to advance play in a game. In example embodiments, a cell phone generates a screen display and the game is played through the mobile device. The measurement of physical activity progresses the player through the game by progressing the player through “game days,” by permitting the player to travel from a current location to another location on a map of the game, by earning rewards points for the player that may be utilized in game play, etc. A specified number of steps equates with a game day and a complete game is measured in game days. The device tracks physical activity, related game days, and completion of games. During a game day, a player advances in the game as well as encounters challenges and obstacles and may be prompted to make other decisions related to the game play.

  • Patent number: 9724598
Abstract: Virtual rehabilitation serious games have gained increasing clinical acceptance in the therapy of large patient populations (stroke and traumatic brain injury). This is due to their ability to motivate the patient, as well as intrinsic large number of movement repetitions they generate. These repetitions are key to inducing brain plasticity and facilitating patient recovery. Unfortunately, bi-manual therapy, while potentially more efficacious, is less developed at this time. We present a novel system and method, for bi-manual game-based integrative therapy that combines physical and cognitive training in integrative game play sessions. It is built around the new Razer Hydra Game interface that track's the patient's arms in 3D and detects trigger pressing. A series of custom games designed to improve focusing, decision making (executive function), short term and long term memory, are played with progressive difficulty.

  • Patent number: 9717989
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention describe the addition of a haptic response to legacy games that were not originally programed to support haptics. The haptic capabilities may be added to the legacy game while it is being emulated by an emulator. The emulator is designed to generate a haptic stimulus that may be sent to the client device platform when a haptic trigger is present in the legacy game. The client device platform may then use the haptic stimulus to generate a haptic response.
