Abstract: A method for calibrating a blood pressure monitoring system includes activating a reference monitor to perform a reference measurement of the blood pressure of a user as part of a calibration process. A wearable sensing device is activated to detect a parameter of user that is correlatable to the user's blood pressure. A processor of the user interface device processes the at least one parameter detected by the wearable blood pressure sensing device with reference to the reference measurement to determine a correlation factor that correlates the at least one parameter detected by the wearable blood pressure sensing device to the blood pressure of the user. The reference measurement includes an inflation phase, a measurement phase and a deflation phase. The processor is configured to only use the at least one parameter detected by the wearable blood pressure sensing device during the measurement phase in determining the correlation factor.

  • Patent number: 11189166
Abstract: Multiple sensors detect the environment of a motorcycle, including an intersection and a vehicle at the intersection. The direction and speed of both the motorcycle and vehicle are determined and, using these, times are calculated for the motorcycle and vehicle to reach a given point in the intersection. Depending on the times to arrive at the point, a probability of a collision is estimated. The rider of the motorcycle is alerted if there is a considerable probability of a collision, via haptic alert devices.

  • Patent number: 11161409
Abstract: Systems and methods for securing limited drivability of a vehicle by impaired drivers using blockchain are provided. The vehicle system uses blockchain to protect and disclose such vehicle deactivation, prevent false enabling/disabling of a vehicle, and saves this information to a shared ledger. A sensor system located on the vehicle, e.g., alcohol interlock sensors, interior sensors, and exterior sensors, may have access to this information along with fleet managers, OEM, and/or users. For example, when the alcohol interlock sensor is activated, it transmits a test request. Subsequently, the other sensors may identify the request and look for a known person inside or in the proximity of the vehicle. In a similar manner, whether the test has been conducted, as well as the results of the test may be verified by the other nodes, e.g., sensors/modules in the vehicle. Upon confirmation that the driver is impaired, the vehicle may be deactivated.

  • Patent number: 11164461
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a vehicle system for an autonomous or semi-autonomous motor vehicle, and a perception system for managing a plurality of interconnected motor vehicles. More specifically, the vehicle system has a control unit for retrieving a relative position of an object in a surrounding environment of the vehicle by means of a sensory system and for retrieving a heading of the motor vehicle. Furthermore, the control unit is configured to receive data from a different motor vehicle comprising the heading of the different motor vehicle and the position of the object relative to the different motor vehicle. The control unit is further configured to translate this external measurement to a local coordinate system in order to add redundancy to the measurement (and thereby accuracy) by utilizing a distributed system approach and therefore reduce the need for adding cost and complexity to each vehicle system in order to achieve increased accuracy.

  • Patent number: 11156676
Abstract: In a GSR sensor element, tm and ti of rising pulse detection are close, and the induced voltage is significantly high at tm. Thus, a variation due to the magnetic field cannot be ignored. To remove an induced voltage from an output voltage and achieve a GSR sensor with a rising pulse detection system. On the basis of the knowledge that the polarity of an induced voltage becomes opposite relative to a direction of the current flowing in a magnetic wire, if one coil includes therein two magnetic wires in which currents of opposite polarities flow, an induced current is cancelled, allowing for the detection of a voltage in proportion to a magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 11042765
Abstract: In one embodiment, a safety system for playing vehicle monitored content in a vehicle while minimizing driver distraction is provided. When the driver selects a camera, such as a rear view camera, vehicle monitored content stream from the camera is displayed on a display in the vehicle. While the driver drives the vehicle, the eye-gaze of the driver is monitored. When the eye-gaze of the driver shows that the driver is looking at the display, a timer is started. The timer runs when the driver looks at the display. When the eye-gaze of the driver shows that the driver has looked at the road continuously for more than a threshold amount of time, the time associated with the vehicle monitored content is reset back to its initial value. If the timer runs out, indicating that the driver has been watching the vehicle monitored content too much without also looking at the road, the vehicle monitored content is stopped and the driver is prevented from watching the vehicle monitored content for some period of time.
