Abstract: A method comprising receiving a category of metadata from an accounting software system, receiving a plurality of metadata labels associated with the category of metadata from the accounting software, receiving a ROC, receiving an association of one of the plurality of the metadata labels with the ROC, and/or transmitting the ROC and the association of the one of the plurality of the metadata labels with the ROC to the accounting software system. The category of metadata may comprise a card member name, an image of a receipt associated with the ROC, a description, and the like.

Abstract: A system and method for registration and processing point of sale purchases, billing and transaction requests using biometric authentication is provided. The system is configured such that upon registration of a user token on a mobile device, an associated financial account server is prevented from processing any transaction requests against the associated account without confirmation and receipt of a user token from a server. The system interacts with the mobile device to verify a biometric identifier before transmission of the user token from a server that interacts with a second server of the financial institution associated with the account before processing a transaction request. The system also includes methods to configure multiple point of sale systems at retail locations to communicate and process payment requests through the system.

Abstract: Techniques for leveraging a likelihood that a transaction (or a portion thereof) will be associated with a refund request to determine whether and/or how long to delay sending, to a payment service, a request for processing the transaction (or portion thereof) are described herein. In an example, a payment processing service may receive, from a point of sale device operated by a merchant, transaction data associated with a transaction between the merchant and a customer. The payment processing service may determine a likelihood that the customer will request a refund for a cost of an item of the transaction at a time after the transaction. Based at least partly on the likelihood, the payment processing service may determine whether to wait until at least the time before sending, to a payment service, a request to process the transaction data for at least the cost of the item.

Abstract: A computer-assisted method for uniformly pricing chargeable items in a healthcare provider's chargeable item database is disclosed. The method applies uniform pricing to identical or related chargeable items. A system for uniformly pricing related chargeable items is also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods configured for monitoring and analyzing financial transactions on public distributed ledgers for suspicious and/or criminal activity are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may: access public third-party information for addresses involved in financial transactions; correlate a first portion of the public third-party information with transaction addresses; label the financial transactions and/or the addresses according to characteristics, such that individual ones of the addresses either have been labeled or are unlabeled; cluster the financial transactions and/or the addresses into a set of clusters that includes a first cluster; assign levels of risk for suspicious and/or criminal activity to the addresses and the financial transactions; and responsive to comparisons of levels of risk with a threshold, report transactions for suspicious and/or criminal activity.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present methods and systems are directed to a system and method for managing and editing accounting periods. Particularly, the embodiments are directed to a financial management system that allows for the recordation of financial transactions without first requiring the creation of a user-defined accounting period, and that further allows for the creation, modification, and closure of defined accounting periods.

Abstract: A point of sale (POS) security system includes a POS device including a non-transitory memory, one or more hardware processors, and one or more environment sensors. A plurality of POS instructions are located on the non-transitory memory in the POS device and executable by the one or more hardware processors in the POS device to provide a POS engine that is configured to receive and transmit payment information for conducting a payment transaction associated with a purchase. A plurality of security instructions are located on the non-transitory memory in the POS device and are executable by the one or more hardware processors in the POS device to provide a security engine that is configured to receive environment signals from the one or more environment sensors in the POS device and analyze those environment signals to determine a security breach.

Abstract: Systems and methods discussed herein relate to an Open Payment Network that allows a plurality of retailers to provide goods and services to users of applications including e-wallets and allows the users to pay for purchases using currency including digital currency earned as credits, points, or other rewards as well as traditional bank-backed currency in the form of cash, credit, or debit. In addition, a user who has registered for the system through a profile or using an individual application or applications can query the system and obtain a quote to determine how much value currency from a variety of sources (e.g., applications) has towards the purchase of a particular good or service at a real or virtual retail location.

Abstract: In the mobile terminal, a first information code is generated based on a terminal identification information and first determining information. The generated first information code is displayed by display unit provided in the mobile terminal. In the mobile terminal, the first and second determining information are acquired from a payment apparatus through reading a third information code. Based on the second determining information, a second information code is generated. Responsively to this generation, images presented on the display unit's screen are updated from a state where the first information code has been displayed so far to another state where the second information code is displayed. In a payment apparatus, an imaging unit images the second information code providing the decoded second determining information, followed by imaging first information code, further followed by performing a process based on the terminal identification information decoded together with the first determining information.

Abstract: The present invention enables the collection by credit/debit card payment of customer co-pay and self-pay charges via an integrated point-of-service transaction management system and method. The system and method of the present invention may assist health care facilities in the collection of co-pay and self-pay charges at the time service is rendered. The present invention can be implemented anywhere cash, checks, credit cards or debit cards are accepted for payment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for performing a transaction with a headless point-of-sale or automated teller machine (ATM) device are disclosed using a card having a second communications path to a financial services provider. A card having a display and radio frequency (RF) communications module may be authenticated with a headless point-of-sale device using a short-range RF communications link. Characteristics of the card may be set prior to the transaction. Transaction information may be provided to the display of the card from the headless point-of-sale device. A customer may confirm the transaction at the card using a touch-sensitive input area. During the processing, a communication may be made over the second communications path to authorize the transaction independently of the transaction processing path. A transaction may then be completed at the headless point-of-sale device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for providing payment account information in a user account by receiving payment card information by a card reader at a point of sale. Optionally, a gift card can be scanned prior to the creation of the account, and the gift card information can be combined with the payment card information. The gift card can be an electronic gift card which can be personalized with textual, visual, video, and/or audio portions.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for managing services at a customer location. The system may have at least one offboard utility meter, a communication device, and a controller in communication with the at least one offboard utility meter via the communication device. The controller may be configured to receive information from the at least one offboard utility meter during a waste service activity at the customer location by a waste service vehicle and to determine based on the information from the at least one offboard utility meter a fee associated with at least one utility service provided at the customer location. The controller may also be configured to generate at least one invoice for the waste service activity and for the fee associated with the at least one utility service.

A geographic data system may receive a social media data feed and an e-mail feed. The geographic data system may extract theme data from at least one of the social media feed data or the e-mail data and select a first user expense category based at least in part on the theme data. The geographic data system may receive from an application executing at a user computing device location data indicating a first geographic location and generate a location-specific user expense based at least in part on the first user expense category and the location data. The geographic data system may generate a graphical user interface comprising a map including the first geographic location and an indication of the location-specific user expense.

Abstract: Computer-based access security includes executing a system-level boot process, by a processor configured with a computing device, as a function of at least boot code, and storing, as a function of at least one operating system kernel, a value representing a time at or near completion of the system-level boot process. The security further includes receiving, as a function of a capacitive touch screen, an electrical charge operable to cause a measurable drop in voltage. Abstract: Techniques and arrangements for performing data analysis in order to generate connections between merchants. For instance, a payment service may determine, based at least in part on transaction information, that a first customer conducted a first transaction at a first merchant followed a subsequent transaction at a second merchant. The payment service may further determine that a second customer conducted a second transaction at the first merchant followed by a subsequent transaction at a third merchant, Based on transaction information associated with the first transaction and the second transaction, the payment service may create a buyer profile including the first customer and second customer. Upon the payment service receiving a request to process a third transaction between the first merchant and the second customer, the payment service can generate a recommendation that the second customer conduct a subsequent transaction to the third transaction at the second merchant rather than the third merchant.

Abstract: Introduced here is a technology that enables a merchant to create customer-targeted, customized digital receipts by use of a merchant platform executing on a financial service system. The merchant platform generates feature programs for incorporating in a digital receipt based on customer segmentation. The customer segmentation includes one or more groups of customers segmented based on one or more attributes associated with each group of customers. An attribute is determined based on data collected by the financial service system, where the data is related to the merchant and other merchants that are either similarly situated as the merchant or similarly located in a geographical area as the merchant. The feature programs can include a feedback program, a loyalty reward program, a promotion program, and/or a tipping program.
