  • Patent number: 8913528
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for handling full-duplex interference. One method includes: obtaining an interference degree that is caused when a site device performs full-duplex transmission with at least two UEs; and determining, according to the interference degree, a UE allowed to transmit uplink and downlink signals on the same time and frequency resource among the at least two UEs. In embodiments of the present invention, a UE allowed to transmit uplink and downlink signals on the same time and frequency resource may be classified according to an interference degree that is caused when a site device performs full-duplex transmission with at least two UEs, thereby preventing the interference problem in the scenario of point-to-multipoint full-duplex communication as much as possible.

  • Patent number: 8908586
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to methods and arrangements for positioning in a wireless communications system, such as LTE. In particular, the present invention relates to improving positioning accuracy. The invention provides methods and arrangements for scheduling positioning subframes, i.e. low interference subframes, for allowing aligning of positioning subframes across a number of cells in order to reduce the interference from data symbols of cells in the neighborhood of a cell serving the UE that is performing positioning measurements. A time instance during which transmission of the positioning subframes is to occur in a wireless communications network is selected. The base stations in the wireless communications network are informed about the selected time instance, whereupon the base stations schedule and transmit the positioning subframes based on the selected time instance, whereby the positioning subframes are aligned throughout the network.

  • Patent number: 8861340
Abstract: Network devices provide Internet Protocol (IP) and Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) fast reroute for unicast and multicast traffic. The approach described herein for fast reroute for IP and LDP uses maximally redundant trees (MRTs). MRTs are a pair of trees where the path from any node X to the root R along the first tree and the path from the same node X to the root along the second tree share the minimum number of nodes and the minimum number of links. A network device, such as a router, computes a pair of MRTs for each destination and installs one or more MRT alternate next-hops in its forwarding plane for use in forwarding network traffic to a destination in the event a failure occurs that renders a primary next-hop unusable for reaching the destination.

  • Patent number: 8848599
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate efficient cell acquisition in a wireless communication system. In one aspect, a reference signal for use in cell acquisition can be constructed in a bandwidth-agnostic manner such that it contains a common central portion in a predetermined frequency band that is independent of a bandwidth utilized by an associated wireless communication system. The central portion can be constructed as a two-dimensional block in time and frequency that spans a default cell search bandwidth, a predetermined bandwidth specified by synchronization codes or other signals, or another suitable bandwidth. A reference signal can then be constructed form the central portion by tiling or expanding the central portion such that it spans the entire system bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 8792353
Abstract: A first set of frames is received in a data flow and tagged with respective serial numbers identifying an ordering of frames in the first set. The tagged first set is forwarded to a general processor for processing prior to being sent to a remote network element. A data flow policy is received from the general processor based on processing of the first set. A second set of frames of the data flow are received subsequent to forwarding the first set to the general processor. It can be verified, based on the assigned serial numbers, that each frame in the first set has been sent to the remote network element prior to sending frames in the second set. The second set is processed and sent to the remote network element by the network processor, bypassing the general processor, based on the data flow policy.

  • Patent number: 8634324
Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and processing line performance data transmitted over cables, e.g., Y-cables, is disclosed. The present invention applies a method based on specific performance measurements, specific measurement time intervals, and compare results from different measurement time intervals to produce a “signature” that indicates deteriorating performance of a particular Y-cable. Once a “signature” is detected, the method will proactively and automatically generate a trouble ticket to trigger the dispatch maintenance staffs to service the cable, e.g., to perform the replacement of the Y-cable in question, thus completing the predictive maintenance process. A trouble ticket is a record used to report and manage the resolution of network related problems.

  • Patent number: 8619753
Abstract: Systems and methods for service period recovery in a wireless communications system are provided. An initial service period for transmitting data is assigned to a first remote station. Data period schedule information, including the assignment of the initial service period, is transmitted from a central station. In response to determining that the first remote station is not transmitting during the initial service period, a modified service period is assigned to the first remote station. A service period change announcement, including the assignment of the modified service period, is transmitted from the central station. In response to determining that the first remote station is not transmitting during the modified service period, the initial service period is truncated and a service period truncation is transmitted from the central station.

  • Patent number: 8619785
Abstract: A set of critical nodes or links is identified on the network and alternate forwarding state is pre-computed and disseminated within a node such that, upon failure of one of the critical nodes/links, a minimal trigger will cause the alternate forwarding state to be used to forward traffic on the routed Ethernet mesh network. In one embodiment rather than storing full tables of alternate forwarding state, only the changes to the forwarding state required by an identified failure is stored by the network nodes. Upon occurrence of a failure on the network, the identified failure is used to select the alternate forwarding state.
