  • Patent number: 4301610
Abstract: A fishing lure retriever for quickly and reliably releasing and retrieving lures, plugs or other fishing tackle which have become entangled on obstructions, vegetation or timber during the fishing process. The device comprising a disk-shaped, weighted body having a frontal opening located therein and a suspension closure rotatably joined together by connecting apparatus which are spatially disposed within the aforementioned frontal opening and which securely engage the suspension closure holding it in place for being disposed about a snagged fishing line so that it can slidably travel along said line from a point spatially disposed between the tip of a fishing rod and the snagged lure, thereby freeing the ensnared lure and allowing both to be retrieved by the angler for inspection, repair, and subsequent reuse.

  • Patent number: 4300287
Abstract: A tool for use in removing the outer sheet metal skin of an automobile door. The tool includes an elongated body having a generally longitudinal axis. A shank is located at one end of the body for connection to a reciprocating apparatus such as an air hammer. A cutting portion is located at the opposite end of the elongated body. The cutting portion of the tool includes a somewhat flattened area extending from the end of the tool. A pair of fingers are located at the cutting end of the tool and project outwardly from the flattened area side of the body. The fingers extend generally at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the body and are spaced apart a sufficient distance to straddle the outer edge of an automobile door to guide the tool during cutting. A narrow cutting tooth is formed on the flattened area of the cutting portion of the tool and is positioned to engage the edge of the automobile door when the fingers are straddling the edge.

  • Patent number: 4300305
Abstract: A swingable frame or trap bar component is pivotally mounted by one end thereof to one end of a stationary frame which includes a pair of spaced and parallel side frames extending upwardly from a base. A heavy duty coil spring normally urges the trap bar component to be released or vertical position. A trigger plate pivoted to the base and is held in the set position by a trigger pivotally mounted on a cross bar between the side frames, said trigger overlying the distal end of the trap bar component when the same is placed in the set position parallel to the base and against pressure of the spring. The trigger engages under the trigger plate to hold the trap in the set position. A sloping cross piece on the trap bar component is engaged by the trigger which is slidable across the cross bar enabling a degree of sensitivity to be imported to the release of the trigger by depression of the trigger plate.

  • Patent number: 4295273
Abstract: A combination carpet razor knife and guide. In known carpet razor knives, a screw retains a razor in sandwiched relation to the opposed halves of the carpet razor knife body. In the invention, this screw is utilized to fixedly secure an arm to the knife, at right angles thereto, the arm being adapted to secure a depending guide in a plurality of functional positions of horizontal adjustment relative to the razor. The novel guide produces a new method for making a substantially perfect seam between abutting carpets.

  • Patent number: 4294011
Abstract: A tube trimming device for cutting each of a plurality of closely spaced projecting tubes an equal distance from a reference or support wall. The device comprises inner and outer tubular housing members that are telescoped together for relative sliding movement through a limited range of travel. A spring extends the two members. A stationary bushing is connected to the projecting end of the inner member to set the desired location of a cutter wheel rotatably mounted on one end of an arm that is pivotally connected to the inner member on the inside. The other end of the pivoted arm has a cam follower that rides on a conical cam surface of the outer member. The tubular inner member is inserted over the projecting end of the tube to be cut, with the stationary bushing pressed against the reference wall. The outer housing is rotatably driven by a motor while, at the same time, the outer housing is pushed toward the reference wall.

  • Patent number: 4294030
Abstract: An ice fishing device having a cylindrical sleeve that is resilient and radially compressible to enable the ice fishing device to adapt to a variety of different size holes in the ice and members on the cylindrical sleeve to vertically and securely support the ice fishing device within the confines of a hole in the ice. A small charcoal chamber attaches to the side of the ice fishing device and holds sufficient charcoal to produce sufficient heat to keep the water in the hole from freezing yet keep the ice fishing device sufficiently cool so as not to burn a fishing line located therein.

  • Patent number: 4292753
Abstract: A novel structure for a fish landing net, or basket, is provided wherein the net is defined by top and bottom C-shaped supports secured in spaced relationship by a plurality of longitudinal ribs. Corresponding ends of the C-shaped supports are secured together by parallel, spaced slider bars which define a slot opening into the interior of the fish landing net. The slider bars are adapted to receive a snap ring which is connectable around the two bars and is slidable thereon, to close the slot and to secure a fishing line within the net. The snap ring is secured to a lowering line by means of which the net may be lowered along the fishing line to encompass a fish hooked on the fishing line. A weight is provided on the snap ring so that when the landing net surrounds the fish, the weight will carry the snap ring downwardly along the slide bars past a shoulder formed in at least one of the bars, which prevents the ring from sliding back up the slide bars.

  • Patent number: 4291599
Abstract: An improved key for driving tamper-proof bolts includes a plastic key handle molded onto one end of a tubular sleeve. The tubular sleeve has a transverse aperture near an end opposite the key handle, and a ball is captively held by the tubular sleeve adjacent the transverse aperture. Molded into the key handle are a chamber providing access to one end of the tubular sleeve and a channel extending transversely through the chamber. The key also includes a plastic plunger handle molded onto an end of a plunger rod axially slidable within the tubular sleeve. A camming surface is located on the end of the plunger rod opposite the plunger handle for camming the ball into the transverse aperture of the tubular sleeve. Molded into the plunger handle is a flattened surface and a flange. A pin is press-fit into the channel adjacent and parallel to the flattened surface of the plunger handle for preventing the plunger handle from rotating and for retaining the flange within the chamber of the key handle.

  • Patent number: 4291485
Abstract: The invention provides for an automatically releasing mounting system by dint of which a weight member may be releasably connected to a fishing-line. The mounting system comprises a receptacle resiliently biassed into essentially conical shape. Wall portions of the receptacle are interconnected by a pivotal joint near the upper end thereof, while latch apparatus are provided to releasably connect the lower ends of the wall portions. The latch apparatus include a latch member having a wing formed integral thereto. When the receptacle hits the surface of the water, the relative movement between the water and the wing portion of the latch member will cause moving of the latch member out of the associated latch-catch. Thus the wall portions of the receptacle cooperating in defining the lower aperture of the container can expand. The receptacle including the latch apparatus can be molded as a single essentially flat part.

  • Patent number: 4290223
Abstract: A fisherman's leader and/or line dispenser and decoiler including an enclosed container and spool of fisherman's leader/line mounted within the container. A pair of first and second resilient pads are mounted within the container in a posture of opposing engagement and the resilient character of the pad material provides mutual self-biasing of the pads together. An aperture is provided through a portion of the container whereby a fisherman's leader/line may be threaded from the spool through the opposed resilient pads and out of the container so that a fisherman in withdrawing a length of leader/line will pull the leader/line through the resilient pads to erase coil memory during the dispensing operation.
