Abstract: The machine includes a base supportable on a horizontal surface and a framework mounted to the base and supporting thereon three rollers in fixed positions with the axes of the rollers extending parallel to each other and the projection thereof forming a right angle triangle in a plane normal to and traversing the axes. The hypotenuse of the right angle triangle faces downwardly, a first leg of the right angle triangle extends horizontally and a second leg of the right angle triangle extends vertically downwardly from the first leg such that the belt received on the machine has a fixed active upwardly facing horizontal flight extending along the first leg of the right angle triangle and a fixed active vertical flight extending along the second leg of the right angle triangle. A first backup platen is fixed to the framework and positioned beneath the horizontal active flight and a second backup platen is fixed to the framework behind the vertical active flight.

  • Patent number: 4314593
Abstract: This invention pertains to a hammer with a swinging auxiliary head which is used to impart a second imputus or force to the first and fixed head. This auxiliary head is pivotally mounted in a fixed bracket and is restrained in its movement by a ball detent and/or a U or J-clip which limits the swing or selectively holds the two heads together in a contiguous relationship. A spring actuated lever control device is also shown for compressed spring propulsion of the auxiliary head. Two embodiments are also shown for combining the ball detent, spring actuation and holding the two heads in fixed together arrangement. Each apparatus may be employed with conventional rear portions of hammers such as nail pulling claws and ball peen configurations.

  • Patent number: 4314420
Abstract: A fishing device presents lures or bait just off the bottom of a stream, lake, or river. The device includes a sinker having a streamlined body, an L-shaped wire, and a pair of trailing legs. The L-shaped wire has a first attachment loop at the top end of the upper leg for attaching a fishing hook assembly, and a second attachment loop at junction of the upper and lower legs for attaching a fishing line. The lower end of the L-shaped wire is embedded in the sinker. The trailing legs have their front ends embedded in the body of the sinker and extend rearwardly out of the rear end of the sinker to form a V pattern. The tail wires assist in keeping the device upright when trolling, casting, or even when stopped, and propel the device out of rocks and crevices.

  • Patent number: 4312129
Abstract: A cutting device comprising one or more cutting elements is configured for connection to a kite string for use in a game of kite fighting. Each of the cutting elements has at least one blade for snagging and cutting an opposing player's kite string. Each blade is formed inwardly from the periphery of the cutting element so that the blades are recessed for eliminating the risk of contact with the blades during connection of the cutting device to the kite string or if the cutting device strikes a player or spectator during a game of kite fighting, thereby avoiding the chance of injury. Preferably, the cutting elements have cooperating slots for interfitting the cutting elements together. Eyelets are preferably formed integrally with each of the cutting elements for connecting the cutting device to a kite string by threading the kite string through the eyelets and tying knots.

  • Patent number: 4311352
Abstract: An improved construction is provided for interfacing board type interconnect system apparatus for use in effecting a multiplicity of concurrent, respective, electrical connections with closely spaced, typically irregularly arranged, contactable, electrically conductive zones of a printed circuit board or the like, such as is required, for example, in the testing of such devices. The apparatus employs a preferably laminated assembly of stacked, electrically insulative plates, including support plates pre-drilled to provide a matrix of relatively small and closely spaced holes for mounting spring pin type contactor assemblies and backing plates for physical reinforcement of the support plates and pre-drilled to provide a matrix of relatively larger and less closely spaced openings each communicating with a plurality of the mentioned holes to present a clearance path for electrical leads associated with the contactor assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4308682
Abstract: A humane animal trap includes a casing defined by upper and lower box-like sections, which are hingedly interconnected for telescoping together to a set position; springs biasing such sections apart to a sprung position; a latch mechanism for holding the upper and lower sections together in the set position; a pair of jaws hingedly mounted in the top of the upper section and connected to a trigger which is actuated by one of the jaws when an animal steps on the jaws for causing the latch mechanism to release the upper section, whereby the upper section moves upwardly relative to the lower section and the leg of the animal moves downwardly between the jaws; springs biasing the jaws to the closed position where resilient opposed edges of the jaws retain the leg of the animal without damaging the leg; and gates which slide partly together above the jaws when the trap is sprung to limit access to such jaws, whereby once trapped an animal cannot readily gain access to the jaws and escape.
