Abstract: One or more devices, systems, methods, may implement one or more techniques to provide sporting event content to a consumer. One or more techniques may identify a sporting event content from a remote storage location, perhaps based on a received audio feed and/or a video feed. The audio feed and/or the video feed may be time coded. The sporting event content may be received via a stream. The sporting event content stream may be time aligned based at least on the time code. An audio content of the sporting event content stream may be provided to a consumer who may have requested the sporting event content via a speaker device. A video content of the sporting event content stream may be provided to the consumer via a display device.

Abstract: Techniques for cloud user interface (UI) rendering in a virtual set top system is performed by a UI engine on a server or a cloud platform. The method includes receiving a request for a UI, where the request includes a state associated with the UI and the request. The method further includes identifying, based at least in part on the first state, UI element(s) and/or interactions associated with the UI. The method also includes determining whether or not UI object(s) corresponding to the UI element(s) and/or the interactions exist in a cache. The method additionally includes generating the UI using the UI object(s) upon finding the UI object(s) in the cache. The method further includes rendering the UI upon not finding the UI object(s) in the cache, including rendering the UI element(s) and/or the interaction(s) as the UI object(s) and storing the UI object(s) in the cache.

Abstract: A set-top box with enhanced content and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the set-top box, a wireless transceiver is located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes a television input, a television output, a processor, and memory. The set-top box provides a fully tuned signal including general content via the television output to a display or a television, for example. The set-top box may also identify a proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device and responsive to identifying the proximate wireless-enabled interactive device, forward a fully tuned signal including custom content relative to a group identification associated with the proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, by a content sharing platform, a request for content from a client device, the request for content comprising a session-based authentication token that pertains to a session between the client device and the content sharing platform. The content sharing platform can further validate the session-based authentication token and cause playback of the requested content to begin at the client device. Responsive to a valid content-based authentication token supplied by the client device, the content sharing platform can cause playback of the requested content to continue at the client device, wherein the valid content-based authentication token is based on an identifier of the requested content.

Abstract: A set-top box with an interactive portal and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the set-top box, the set-top box is deployed to provide an interactive portal in a hospitality establishment having multiple rooms, such as a hotel. The set-top box is associated with a room and includes a housing that secures a television input, a television output, a processor, a transceiver, and memory therein in an interconnected bus architecture. The set-top box generates a guest interactive portal as well as a housekeeping interactive portal for a guest and housekeeper, respectively. Each of the portals provides relevant feedback on the condition of the room to a server associated with the hotel.

Abstract: A hospitality property management tool and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the system, the system includes a set-top box located in a room at a hospitality establishment having multiple rooms. The set-top box stores various types of set-top box data and transmits the set-top box data to a remote server. The remote server receives and stores the set-top box data. The server may render a map view of the hospitality establishment based on obtained map data. The map view may include a graphical representation of the room and other rooms at the hospitality establishment. The server may annotate the graphical representation of the room with at least a portion of the set-top box data.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for improving audio for hearing impaired content consumers. An example method may comprise determining a content asset. Closed caption data associated with the content asset may be determined. At least a portion of the closed caption data may be determined based on a user setting associated with a hearing impairment. Compensating audio comprising a frequency translation associated with at least the portion of the closed caption data may be generated. The content asset may be caused to be output with audio content comprising the compensating audio and the original audio.

Abstract: Advertisements are delivered with videos, the advertisements being cued to begin based on an analysis of metadata associated with the videos such as moments identified from user-submitted comments relative to the video. Credit earned by users based on their viewing and engagement activities may be gifted to other users or applied towards baseline fees assessed in connection with videos delivered to the user.

Abstract: The system generates a display providing condensing content for display under time constraints. In response to a selection of a program that has already started, the system retrieves information about the program. Based on this information, and information about the user, the system selects a subset of segments of the program, forming a shorter version of the content that fits within a reduced time interval, from the time of selection to a scheduled end time. Accordingly, the user is presented with the condensed version of the currently selected program by, including the important or relevant segments of the program. The system generates the condensed content by selecting segments of the program that are determined to be important to the user and that cumulatively fit with the available viewing time. The system may sort, score, or otherwise rank segment identifiers based on user profile information.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining one or more signals, the one or more signals being based upon brain activity of a viewer while the viewer is viewing media content; predicting, based upon the one or more signals, a first predicted desired viewport of the viewer; obtaining head movement data associated with the media content; predicting, based upon the head movement data, a second predicted desired viewport of the viewer; comparing the first predicted desired viewport to the second predicted desired viewport, resulting in a comparison; and determining, based upon the comparison, to use the first predicted desired viewport to facilitate obtaining a first subsequent portion of the media content or to use the second predicted desired viewport to facilitate obtaining a second subsequent portion of the media content. The broadcast providing method includes receiving, by the processing circuitry, a broadcast image from a broadcast server, and generating, by the processing circuitry, a final image by synthesizing the broadcast image with a personalized background image using a chroma key, the personalized background image being personalized for a user of the electronic device.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide for inserting advertisements into content. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a request for insertion of an advertisement into content from an endpoint device. The content is delivered to the endpoint device with advertising signaling in the content. The method also includes comparing policy information to advertising signaling information, in the request, of a content provider providing the content, identifying a tier of service (TOS) of the endpoint device, and determining whether the advertisement can be inserted into the content. If the advertisement can be inserted into the content, the advertisement is selected according to the TOS of the endpoint device and inserted into the content.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for providing content item recommendations based on a video. Using feature vectors corresponding to at least one frame of a video (e.g., generated based on texture and shape intensity of a frame), a recommendation system improves content recommendation using analytic and quantitative characteristics derived from a frame of a content item rather than merely manually labeled bibliographic data (e.g., a genre or producer). The recommendation system may generate a feature vector based on a texture, a shape intensity (e.g., generated from a Generalized Hough Transform), and temporal data corresponding to at least one frame of a video. The feature vector is analyzed using a machine learning model (e.g., a neural network) to produce a machine learning model output. The recommendation system causes a recommended content item to be provided based on the machine learning model output.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for viewing missed media content. A media content stream is received at a user device. A first timestamp is logged, in response to determining a first failure in the receiving of the content stream, indicating when the first failure in the receiving of the content stream to the user device occurred. A second timestamp is logged, in response to determining a first restoration of the receiving of the content stream, indicating when the first restoration in the receiving of the content stream to the user device occurred. A first recorded portion of the media content stream is retrieved. The first recorded portion has a start point corresponding to the first timestamp and an end point corresponding to the second timestamp.

Abstract: Some embodiments relate to a system and method to increase the speed of a computer determination whether a video contains a particular content. In some embodiments, the quantity of data in the video is first reduced while preserving the searched-for content. Optionally, first, the size of the data is reduced by reducing the resolution, for example resolution may be reduced without searching and/or processing the full data set. Additionally or alternatively, low quality and/or empty data is removed from the dataset. Additionally or alternatively, redundant data may be searched out and/or removed. Optionally, after data reduction, the reduced dataset is analyzed to determine if it contains the searched-for content. Optionally, an estimate is made of the probability of the full dataset containing the searched-for content.

Abstract: In one example, a method performed by a processing system including at least one processor includes obtaining a first stream of audio and video data, wherein the first stream of audio and video data comprises a lower-resolution version of a second stream of audio and video data that is transmitted to a first user device over a content distribution network and encrypted using a high-bandwidth digital content protection protocol, performing an analysis technique on the first stream of audio and video data in order to extract audio and video artifacts which from which content of the first stream of audio and video data is inferred, deriving a signature marker from the audio and video artifacts, and sending the signature marker to the first user device.

Abstract: The invention relates to the field of computing. The invention discloses improvement of the accuracy of providing interactive media content to the user's computing device while providing a simultaneous feedback from the user's computing device to the server for generating and transmitting over-the-air media content. The system for providing interactive media content uses a static graphic marker. The system includes: a remote server for generating on-air media content and transmitting it to a display device, wherein the generation is performed by combining data of the on-air media content with the data of the static graphic marker; a network for receiving and transmitting data from a remote server to a user's computing device; a user's computing device for scanning the static graphic marker, transmitting the scanned data to the remote server, receiving processed interactive media content data and displaying the interactive media content on the user's display.

Abstract: Provided is a content distribution server which is able to establish restrictions on the public disclosure of an object displayed in virtual space at the convenience of the distributor. The content distribution server comprises: a distribution unit that distributes live content for synthesizing video in virtual space using information from the distributor as virtual character information; and a first setting receiving unit that receives from the distributor terminal used by the distributor public disclosure restriction settings for establishing restrictions on objects present in virtual space displayed on the distributor terminal that can be viewed on a viewer terminal used by a viewer to view live content.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for delivery of one or more channels of programming in an IP network. An edge gateway device may retrieve segments of programming, based on information in a manifest file, and output the segments via multicast to one or more edge devices. Advertising content may be inserted, or replaced if already present, before the segments are multicast. Segments encoded at various bit rates may be available for retrieval. Segments may be selected for retrieval based in part on a quality indicator associated with each segment.

Abstract: The described technology is directed towards an image providing service, including an image processing service that composites a base image into a resultant image, e.g., by resizing an image, overlaying text and so forth based upon a purpose for that image and/or a client device class; other parameters such as design information, protection and so forth also may be specified. When a client requests an image including by specifying a purpose and size in a request to an endpoint (e.g., URL) for an image, the image processing service locates or composites a resultant image corresponding to the request, and returns the resultant image or a modified (e.g., resized) resultant image in response to the request. Clients thus obtain images based upon a desired purpose without having to do client-side image processing including image compositing.
