The signal panel displays a maintenance message when raised, indicating the shopping cart is faulty. A user, upon discovering a defect, raises the flag member to create a visual alert which warns other users to avoid the faulty shopping cart and notifies maintenance personnel to service the shopping cart. The maintenance message identifies the specific defect to facilitate efficient inspection. The maintenance signal flag may be retrofitted to existing shopping carts and does not interfere with the ability of the shopping cart to be stacked with other shopping carts.

The sensor is further configured to prevent the fluid flow from permanently changing the sensor state until activation of the sensor from a resting state. The diameter of the tape measure housing may be reduced if two or more rewind springs are used instead of a single one. The primary and the secondary rewind springs operate in series. On pulling the measuring tape, the primary spring is compressed, causing the secondary rewind spring to compress. On release of the tape, the springs operate in reverse, retracting the tape.

Then the knife can be pivoted upon its edge and then make a miter cut.
