  • Patent number: 9697717
Abstract: A power adapter warning system includes a computing device that has a display screen and that is coupled to a power adapter device and at least one peripheral device. The computing device initializes and, in response, detects the power adapter device. The computing device then determines that the power adapter device does not provide sufficient power to complete a boot process and, in response, prevents power from being provided to the peripheral device(s). The computing device then performs the boot process such that the display screen is available for displaying information, and provides a power adapter warning message for display on the display screen. The peripheral device(s) may be connected to the computing device via USB connectors, and power may be disabled to the USB connectors to allow the computing device to perform the boot process using power provided by the power adapter.

  • Patent number: 9673876
Abstract: In MIMO communication, a communication device is provided that transmits a transfer rate request signal while reducing it and reducing the interference and power consumption when the transfer rate request signal is transmitted substantially without lowering the transmission efficiency. A modulation encoding unit encodes and modulates transmission data transmitted to a communication partner and the transfer rate request signal is the plurality of transmission antennas. A transmission unit and a transmission antenna transmit a signal from the modulation encoding unit. A transmission control unit controls transmission of a signal transmitted from the transmission antenna and transmits a transfer rate request signal of one transmission antenna via the transmission antenna according to a comparison result between a difference of the transfer rate request signal in the respective transmission antenna of the communication partner and a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 9661458
Abstract: Mapping the physical location of each sensor of a network of wireless sensors in a configured environment, each sensor being in communication with a server and its database, is achieved by attaching RFID tags to objects in the environment which contain both object-relevant information and the MAC address of sensors proximate to those objects. The locations of the tags on the objects are proxies for the locations of the sensors identified on those tags. By reading the tags and up-loading the read tag information to the database, the association of the sensor and the object is known to the server and can be matched with the configuration of the environment to infer the location of each wireless sensor.

  • Patent number: 9637133
Abstract: A system and method may monitor an operator of a vehicle for signs of incapacity. Low cost electronic devices may monitor operator vital signs allowing the system to determine when the operator is active and normally operating the vehicle, operating the vehicle under a high workload, and/or has become inactive (potentially incapacitated). Industrial electronics may enable to system to monitor ambient workspace temperature, pressure, and oxygen levels and may offer the system an additional second source of information to detect ambient factors affecting the capacity of the operator. Should operator capacity be in question, the system may warn the operator and take an appropriate safety based action including application of a control and eventually assuming control of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9635647
Abstract: Response frame modulation coding set (MCS) selection within single user, multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. With respect to any exchange between communication devices in which there is a response frame, a first frame (e.g., an eliciting frame) is a first transmitted from the eliciting communication device to the responding communication device, and a second frame (e.g., a response frame) is transmitted from the responding communication device to the eliciting communities device. Appropriate selection of MCS to be used within the response frame may be determined explicitly or implicitly. One or more parameters (e.g., a limit parameter, a reduction parameter, etc.) may be used to determine the MCS of the response frame. The MCS employed for a response frame may be selected from a basic MCS set that ensures all response frames from any responding communication device may be properly received by the eliciting communication device.
