  • Patent number: 9479206
Abstract: A modulated signal is demodulated to obtain a modulation signal. The modulated signal is contained within an input signal. A periodic time segment sequence is defined having a plurality of ordered time segments. Signal values are acquired, from the input signal, during each ordered time segment. Signal values acquired during each ordered time segment are combined with signal values acquired during the same ordered time segment over multiple periods of the periodic time segment sequence. A local clock is generating. The modulated signal is demodulated by weighting the combined signal values by the local clock to obtain the modulation signal. the modulation signal is low-pass filtered to obtain a control signal. The generation of the local clock is controlled with the control signal.

  • Patent number: 9425998
Abstract: An analog signal processing device for equalizing a low pass filter to create a Nyquist filter in accordance with the present invention includes a low pass filter for passing a predetermined bandwidth, and a tapped delay filter connected with the low pass filter to create the Nyquist filter. In more detail, the tapped delay filter is used to sample an input analog signal having a predetermined symbol rate. The samples from the input signal are then respectively weighted to establish a system transfer function for the Nyquist filter. The purpose here is to minimize both inter-symbol interference and transmission bandwidth. A decision circuit can be provided to convert the input signal into a desired data format for creation of an output signal to be transmitted by the data transmission system. Also, the Nyquist filter can be selectively evaluated as an “eye diagram” and the system transfer function appropriately adjusted accordingly.

  • Patent number: 9362866
Abstract: A communication device, such as a smart phone, includes an envelope tracking power supply modulator. The envelope tracking power supply modulator receives an envelope tracking reference signal. A baseband controller pre-distorts the envelope tracking reference signal responsive to distortion caused by the envelope tracking power supply modulator. For instance, the pre-distortion may modify the nominal envelope tracking reference signal so that, after the modulator acts on the modified reference signal, the output of the modulator has increased linearity.

  • Patent number: 9331721
Abstract: The present disclosure shows new mechanisms for sampling an input signal. In particular, some embodiments of the present disclosure include a new type of a level-crossing sampling mechanism called a derivative level-crossing sampling (D-LCS). At a high level, D-LCS involves quantizing the derivative of an input signal when the derivative of the input signal crosses one of the quantization thresholds. For certain class of signals, the derivative of the input signal can vary at a slower speed compared to the amplitude of the input signal. Therefore, by sampling the derivative of the input signal, instead of the input signal itself, the number of samples per unit time can be reduced.
