Abstract: A signaling method for transmitting packet data including information indicating an MN ID of one target access terminal (AT) among a plurality of ATs from a packet data service node (PSDN) to the target AT in a mobile communication system including a service system connected to the PDSN and a data location register (DLR), a plurality of access systems each having an access network controller (ANC) connected to the service system, and a plurality of access terminals (ATs) for communicating by radio with the access systems. In the signaling method, upon receipt of a message informing the access system of arrival of the packet data, the access system transmits a Paging Request message to the DLR. Upon receipt of the Paging Request message, the DLR storing location information of the plurality of ATs within areas of the plurality of access systems searches a location of the target AT.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for instant message communication in a wireless and non-wireless environment. A message is sent from a mobile unit device over a wireless communication network. The message includes a destination address, information associated with the mobile unit device's user, message content and message address. If, according to information previously stored for the mobile unit device's user at the instant message system, the destination address is associated with an instant message function, the associated instant message function is executed at the instant message system using the information contained in the message content, if required as determined by the associated instant message function.
Abstract: A technique for transmitting the same moving picture (video) to a plurality of terminals suitable for presenting a moving picture (video) performance by using a mobile communication terminal in an open area such as an athletic field. The method includes a first step in which a UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) system removes headers added in a BMC SDU (Broadcast/Multicast Control Service Data Unit) and transmits it to a terminal. A second step is performed in the terminal and involves checking input of a broadcast service key signal by a user and reads an SIB (System Information Block) transmitted from a base station, modular-calculates an IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) value and selects a corresponding S-CCPCH (Secondary Common Control Physical Channel).
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting a downlink signal from a communication station to one or more subscriber units to achieve a desired radiation level over a desired sector (e.g., everywhere), the communication station including an array of antenna elements and one or more signal processors programmed (in the case of programmable signal processors) to weight the downlink signal according to one of a sequence of complex valued weight vectors. The method includes sequentially repeating transmitting the downlink signal, each repetition with a different weight vector from the sequence until all weight vectors in the sequence have been transmitted with. The sequence is designed for achieving the desired radiation level during at least one of the repetitions. In this way, every user in the desired region is transmitted to in the time period.

Abstract: A method of controlling link adaptation in a packet radio system is described, the method comprising receiving (302) a CQI (channel quality indicator) report, the CQI report including the number of parallel multi-codes, the transport block size, TBS, and the modulation scheme to be used in link adaptation; and calculating an effective code rate, ECR, based on the received CQI report. The method comprises calculating (306) new estimates for the effective code rate (ECR) and the transport block size (TBS) based on a ratio of the number of multi-codes of the CQI report and the number of multi-codes that the packet radio system has available for transmission, and executing (308) link adaptation based on the new estimates for the effective code rate (ECR) and the transport block size (TBS).
Abstract: A method, a system and a network element for controlling the transmission of a message to be transmitted point-to-multipoint in a mobile communication system. In order to take the topicality of the content of the message to be transmitted point-to-multipoint into account, a life time is determined for the message in the method and the message waiting to be transmitted is deleted from the buffer in response to the expiry of the life time.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide for the selective prevention of data transfer from a medical device to allow the patient to have privacy when desired. Theses systems and methods provide medical devices that can be instructed in various ways to stop recording data and/or transmitting data to external devices and systems. These systems and methods also provide external repeater devices that can also be instructed in various ways to stop recording data being received, stop forwarding data that is being or has already been received, and/or to stop soliciting data from the medical device. These systems and methods also provide for a blocking device that may be separate from the medical device and repeater to provide instruction to the medical device and/or repeater to prevent data transfer such as by stopping the recording or transmission of data.

Abstract: After consecutive photographing by consecutive photographing function of a camera at step S1 or selecting animation from an album function at step S2, display transit to a self-animation producing screen at step S3. In a display area (#1) on right side of a display screen, picked up images are displayed in thumbnail form, and in a display area (#2), images set for respective frame numbers of the self-animation are displayed in thumbnail form. In the display area (#1), a determination key is depressed in the condition where a cursor is focused on the image, the currently selected image is set in the frame of the self-produced animation. The selected image is displayed in the corresponding frame number of the display area (#2) in thumbnail form.

Abstract: A subscriber data control method in a mobile communication network which reduces the processing load on a mobile switching center and can effectively use the resource of a visitor subscriber data area is provided. After receiving at a destination mobile switching center a request for location registration from a mobile station, a subscriber data request signal is transmitted to a home mobile switching center. Using an indication in the subscriber data request signal, the home mobile switching center judges if it is necessary to transmit subscriber data to the destination mobile switching center since the subscriber data is kept at destination mobile switching center for a predetermined period of time.
Abstract: A wireless communication device receives CDMA signals and communicates with remote base stations in site selection diversity transmit (SSDT) mode. During communications with a primary base station, communication state parameters, such as signal to interference ratio (SIR) target values and carrier frequency estimates, are maintained for other base stations of an active set of base stations. The state parameters for communications with a selected base station are available for use after selection of a new base station. In one embodiment, the communication state parameters are used for the selection of a base from the active set.
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for acquiring by a mobile terminal a pseudo-random noise (PN) sequence of a pilot signal received from a base station by means of a searcher, designating a phase of the acquired PN sequence as a reference phase to track the phase of the acquired PN sequence, and measuring an energy difference between an early path and a late path for the reference phase in a mobile communication system. In the apparatus and method, a first energy measurer measures a first energy value from a PN sequence with the reference phase, and a second energy measurer alternately measures energy values of the early path and the late path for the reference phase and outputs a second energy value.
