  • Patent number: 7162205
Abstract: In a detector device 10 of the invention, a wave detection module 20 receives and detects radio wave in a predetermined frequency band, which is used by a target wireless communication device for telecommunication. An extraction module 30 extracts a pattern representing a time-series variation in presence or absence of the detected radio wave. An identification module 40 compares the extracted pattern with inherent patterns of radio wave transmitted from plural devices, which use the radio wave in the predetermined frequency band and include the target wireless communication device, and thereby identifies the propagation environment of the radio wave transmitted from the target wireless communication device. A display module 50 displays a result of the identification by changing lighting statuses of LEDs. When smooth telecommunication of a wireless communication device is interrupted, this arrangement of the invention desirably identifies the reason of the interrupted communication.

  • Patent number: 7155178
Abstract: A circuit system for wireless communications via two antennas. The circuit system includes a printed circuit board having a predetermined area devoid of a solder mask. According to the invention, an antenna switch, filter, and power amplifier are mounted on the printed circuit board within the predetermined area. The antenna switch connects the filter and the power amplifier with the two antennas. The filter blocks unwanted frequency components in an RF receive signal from either of the antennas. A transceiver is responsible for down-converting the RF receive signal a baseband receive signal and up-converting a baseband transmit signal to an RF transmit signal. A first matching network coupled between the filter and the transceiver transforms the RF receive signal from single-ended to differential. Likewise, a second matching network coupled between the transceiver and the power amplifier transforms the RF transmit signal from differential to single-ended.

  • Patent number: 7155241
Abstract: A paging transceiver and method for selectively paging provides a page to a paging transceiver but does not automatically provide an associated message. The paging transceiver receives the page and alerts the user that a message is waiting and preferably provides a short description of the message. The user can then download or otherwise act on the message at a time and at a place convenient to the user. The user can therefore place the paging transceiver in a location where it can easily receive and reply to the message. The paging system conserves air time and the paging transceiver conserves memory by not automatically receiving the associated messages. The user can determine the time at which the paging transceiver receives transmissions, such as during off-peak hours. The messages stored by the systems and delivered to the paging transceiver may be of different types, such as voice, text, audio, or even video.

  • Patent number: 7155177
Abstract: Techniques for predicting weights used for closed-loop transmit diversity. In a channel prediction scheme, channel gains for multiple transmit antennas are initially estimated (e.g., based on pilots received from these antennas) and used to derive predicted channel gains for a future time instant. The predicted channel gains are then used to derive predicted weights that are deemed to be “optimal” at the future time instant. Optimality may be determined based on one or more criteria, such as maximizing a received SNR for the received signals. In a weight prediction scheme, the channel gains for the multiple antennas are estimated and used to compute optimal weights for the current time instant. The current optimal weights are then used to predict the optimal weights at the future time instant. For both schemes, the prediction may be performed based on an adaptive filter (e.g., LMS or RLS filter) or a non-adaptive filter.

  • Patent number: 7149517
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing for calling party name and/or other information corresponding to a wireless unit to be stored in association with an identifier of the wireless unit in a location register such as the home location register (HLR) in a network element of a wireless network. The network element is configured to accept and support the TR-1188, wireless intelligent network (WIN), or the like messaging processes. When a calling party uses a wireless unit to make a call to a wireline unit of a subscriber having calling name delivery service, the call is routed in a conventional manner to the service switching point (SSP) serving the calling line of the wireline unit. Based on the called party's status as a subscriber, the SSP uses the appropriate messaging process in a query/response exchange to obtain the calling party name and/or other information from the appropriate network element that includes the calling name (or other information) in or has access to an appropriate location register.

  • Patent number: 7142863
Abstract: Current deployment methods for fixed wireless access communications networks typically give rise to a trade off between link performance and capacity. It is difficult to maintain specified levels of link performance while maximizing capacity. When a request to change a fixed wireless access network is received, for example, by adding a subscriber, moving a subscriber or adding a sector to a base station, the link performance at each communications link is determined. For example, by measuring the link performance at each link or by predicting or estimating these link performance levels. If the proposed change to the network does not compromise link performance, that is, the predicted or actual link performance levels are greater than a specified level, proposed change is implemented. Otherwise the now subscriber is placed on hold, pending change to the network such as addition of a new base station or sector.
