Patent number: 11257377Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying high risk parking lots. High risk parking lots may be, for example, parking lots that pose a higher than average risk of collisions and/or theft. Auto insurance claim data may be analyzed to identify hazardous areas. A virtual navigation of roads within the hazardous area may be identified. Public parking lots within the virtual navigation map may be defined, with each public parking lot determined as either in a hazardous area or not. A vehicle may be determined to be approaching or parking in a parking lot in a hazardous area, and a nearby public parking lot not associated with the hazardous area may be selected instead. A route from a current position to the nearby public parking lot may be generated, and the vehicle may be routed to the nearby public parking lot. As a result, collisions and thefts may be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: February 22, 2022Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: John A. Patent number: 11210914Abstract: The present invention provides a loop conductor based alarm and security system to secure a number of valuable objects together in such a manner that if an attempt to remove any one object in the linked group is made, an alarm will sound (locally and remotely, if desired). The system uses electronic controllers that monitor the condition of an electrically conductive loop path that has been established around and/or through the valuable objects, connecting them to a generally immovable object such as a vehicle or trailer. A unique “lasso” termination element is used in connection with a standard electrical extension cord or a standard trailer plug connector wiring harness. A loop conductor electronic controller is used in each case. The electronic controller may be connected to existing security systems for the vehicle as well as to ancillary components such as sirens, wireless telemetry devices, and other vehicle security system components.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2020Date of Patent: December 28, 2021Inventor: Steve Harvey
