Abstract: A method of supporting divided screen areas and a mobile terminal employing the same are disclosed. The method includes: generating input signals for one of sequentially and simultaneously activating a plurality of user functions; activating the user functions according to generated input signals; dividing a screen into divided screen areas that correspond to activated user functions; and outputting functional view areas associated with the activated user functions to the corresponding divided screen areas.

Abstract: One or more embodiments increase the visual appeal and organization of presenting digital content items. In particular, one or more embodiments improve the visual appeal of a presentation of digital content items by emphasizing one or more digital content items within the presentation of digital content items. For instance, one or more digital content items may be emphasized within a graphical user interface including a gallery of digital content items. The emphasized digital content items can be selected based on a score reflecting a particular characteristic of the digital content item and/or a metric of user interest in the digital content item. Digital content items with relatively high scores as compared to other digital content items may be emphasized when presented in conjunction with the other digital content items.

Abstract: Techniques for providing merchant slot availability management using graphical user interfaces for mobile devices are discussed herein. Some embodiments may include a mobile device with processing circuitry configured to generate a multi-level graphical user interface (mGUI), and provide the mGUI to a touch screen display of the mobile device. The processing circuitry may be further configured to monitor a touch screen for various predefined user inputs for traversing tiered levels, and updating the mGUI. The mGUI may be used to implement interfaces various mobile device interfaces used for organizing hierarchal or structured data. For example, the mGUI may be used to implement a merchant slot management interface that allows merchants to dynamically adjust slot availability and associated properties, manage slots such as by creating tabs, or generate promotions for available slots.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining, for each position of a pointer during a selection of a first graphical element, whether the position of the pointer corresponds to a boundary position in a GUI, and based on determining that the position of the pointer corresponds to the boundary position in the GUI, setting a position of the first graphical element to the boundary position even though the pointer continues to move beyond the boundary position during selection of the first graphical element. The systems and methods further provide for determining that the pointer position has moved beyond a predetermined threshold position for the boundary position and causing the first graphical element to move from the boundary position to the same position as the pointer and continue to move with the pointer during selection of the first graphical element.

Abstract: A method includes displaying, on a touch-sensitive display, a plurality of application icons in a first configuration at locations on a hexagonal grid in relation to an origin. The application icons have corresponding ranks based on their respective locations in relation to the origin. In response to detecting a movement of a user contact from a first position to a second position: the display of a first application icon at a first location is translated to a second position; a second configuration of the application icons is determined based on the first location and the second location; and the display of the application icons is transitioned from the first configuration to the second configuration. In the second configuration, no application icon except the first application icon is displaced by more than one location relative to the first configuration.

Abstract: Task-oriented messages are presented to a user in an interactive format for disposition. Natural language processing techniques parse task-oriented messages for individual tasks, such as assignments, information requests, and requests for approval or authorization. A user interface provides a recipient of a task-oriented message with selectable tasks for individual, or group, disposition, such as respond, defer, delegate, mark answered, and ignore. Recipients are notified if an incomplete response is generated, such as when an identified task is not dispositioned.

Abstract: Described herein is a user interface that enables messages within a collaborative workspace environment to be propagated to different workspaces that are associated with different tabs in the collaborative workspace environment. Thus, a comment made in a workspace associated with a first tab is reflected in a workspace associated with a different tab and vice versa.

Abstract: Certain exemplary embodiments relate to entertainment systems and, more particularly, to systems that incorporate digital downloading jukebox features and improved user interfaces. For instance, a smart search may be provided, e.g., where search results vary based on the popularity of songs within the venue, in dependence on songs being promoted, etc. As another example, a tile-based approach to organizing groupings of songs is provided. Groupings may involve self-populating collections of songs that combine centrally-promoted songs, songs in a given genre that are popular across an audiovisual distribution network, and songs that are locally popular and match up with the given genre (e.g., because of shared attributes such as same or similar genre, artist, etc.). Different tile visual presentations also are contemplated, as are different physical jukebox designs. In certain example embodiments, a sealed core unit with the “brains” of the jukebox is insertable into a docking station.

Abstract: In an information processing apparatus, character recognition processing is executed on a character string image including a plurality of characters, and a character string as a result of the character recognition processing on the character string image is displayed. When any character in the character string displayed as the result of the character recognition processing is selected by a user, a correction candidate character for the selected character is displayed based on a character string in master data managed in a database, different from the character string displayed as the result of the character recognition processing in a predetermined number of characters and in at least the selected character. When the displayed correction candidate character is selected by the user, the character string as the result of the character recognition processing is corrected using the selected correction candidate character.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, and computer program product are provided to generate, transform, and control menu data object in network environment. In some example implementations, menu data objects and related parameters are parsed and translated into a stratified data structure that can be used in connection with creating a renderable object associated with an interactive user interface accessible via a mobile system associated with a user. Control over the menu data object and its associated interface can be automated, and/or implemented in a manner that detects interrelated elements of the data structure such that alterations made to one element cause the related elements to be rendered in an alternate manner for visual verification.

In one example embodiment, an electronic magazine may be presented to a user device as a widget without using a browser. The electronic magazine may comprise two or more data pages. A user selection of at least one of the two or more data pages may be detected and then communicated from the user device across a network for further processing.

Abstract: Devices are configured to capture and share media based on user touch and other interaction. Functional labels show the user the operation being undertaken for any media captured. For example, functional labels may indicate a group of receivers, type of media, media sending method, media capture or sending delay, media persistence time, discrimination type and threshold for capturing different types of media, etc., all customizable by the user or auto-generated. Media is selectively captured and broadcast to receivers in accordance with the configuration of the functional label. A user may engage the device and activate the functional label through a single haptic engagement, allowing highly-specific media capture and sharing through a single touch or other action, without having to execute several discrete actions for capture, sending, formatting, notifying, deleting, storing, etc. Devices include any number of sensors to properly detect and act in accordance with the user engagement.

Abstract: A user views images through a head-mounted display (HMD). The HMD can display virtual interaction objects to a user on a reference plane, such as a keyboard and trackpad. The reference plane can be defined by the user by forming predetermined hand shapes with their hands. After the reference plane is generated, the HMD can display virtual interaction objects on the reference plane. To interact with the virtual objects, the HMD can track the hands of the user relative to the reference plane. For example, a finger tap on a virtual trackpad on the reference plane can indicate a click. Among other advantages, the reference plane is defined based on hand shapes of the user. Thus, the reference plane can be determined without the HMD identifying a surface in the real world (e.g., through object recognition).

Abstract: In some implementations, a mobile device can generate graphical user interfaces (GUIs) on behalf of third-party applications for presentation by vehicle infotainment systems. The mobile device can obtain configuration information for the vehicle system. The mobile device (e.g., operating system) can be configured with various GUI templates that define the layout of various user input controls. The third-party application can provide a template identifier and map data to the operating system. The mobile device can generate a GUI for the third-party application specifically for display by the vehicle system based on the identified template, the map data, and the configuration information for the vehicle system. The mobile device can then send the generated GUI to the vehicle system and the vehicle system can present the GUI on a display of the vehicle system.

Abstract: A device searching system and method for data transmission are provided. A method of searching for another device in a first device for data transmission includes outputting a widget window for a device search, receiving an address book stored in a second device connected to the first device, and if the widget window is selected, searching for a device included in the received address book, wherein the searching of the device includes searching for at least one of devices included in the received address book based on a keyword input through the widget window.

Abstract: According to one or more embodiments of the present invention, a computer-implemented method includes generating, by a cognitive system, an answer for a user-provided query using an analytics algorithm. The answer is based on a set of data sources. The method further includes determining an influence weightage of each data source from the set of data sources. The method further includes generating and presenting a rationale for the answer based on the influence weightage.

Abstract: A system for displaying electronic mail (email) metadata may include a display and a memory configured to store emails. The system may also include a processor coupled to the display and the memory. The processor may be configured to extract the email metadata from the emails and associate each email with an icon visually conveying respective email metadata for a corresponding email. The processor may also be configured to determine at least one icon display characteristic for each icon based upon the extracted email metadata and display, on the display, each icon with the at least one icon display characteristic.
