  • Patent number: 4368997
Abstract: A pivot joint having a housing member with a pair of opposing coaxially aligned bores in communication with an elongated channel transverse to the bores. A cylindrical member extends across the channel and rotates within the bores. The cylindrical member is longitudinally split to form a pair of clamping sections having a double-D configuration. A passageway is formed through the cylindrical member transverse to its axis and spanning across the split to define opposing concave bearing surfaces for receiving an axially adjustable rod therethrough. A locking clamp extends into the housing for locking the clamp sections together in a desired rotational orientation within the bores, thereby securely clamping the rod in a desired angular orientation as well as in a desired axial extension.

  • Patent number: 4367969
Abstract: A bushing for connecting a tool head with a tapered eye to a fiberglass tool handle. The bushing, formed in two sections, is mounted around and over a tongue on the distal end of the handle and is configured externally to be wedged by driving the bushing and handle in proximal direction to the eye of the tool head. Complementary double tapers on the tongue and the corresponding interior surface of the bushing are pressed into engagement when the bushing is driven into place in the tool head. The tapers on the tongue hold the bushing longitudinally in place on the handle. Spacers having the double tapered shape and/or flexible shims are provided for expanding the bushing to adapt it to fit larger eyes and to accommodate manufacturing tolerances of the tool eye hole. The cross sections of the eye and bushing are ovate with the major axis of such oval shape perpendicular to a striking face on said head.

  • Patent number: 4365908
Abstract: A joint for interconnecting confronting end portions of two elongate members so that the elongate members are movable between first and second positions. In the first position, the elongate members are releasably locked in a coaxial, erect supporting position in which confronting end portions of the members are closely spaced from each other. In the second position, the elongate members are spaced from and substantially parallel to each other. The hinge includes a central block member having a generally U-shaped profile, with guide surfaces and cam slots in its flanges. Guide members having similarly shaped guide surfaces and cam slots are connected in pairs to opposite ends of the block member and cooperate with the guide surfaces and cam slots to control movement of the tubular members between the first and second positions.

  • Patent number: 4364685
Abstract: A device for attaching an article, such as an armrest, a hand grip, etc., to a base surface is disclosed. The device comprises an attachment clip and an insert which is receivable in an aperture in the clip. The clip is secured in an opening in the base surface. A dentate structure is provided either on the insert or in the attachment clip, and a locking device is provided on the other of the insert or the clip to engage the dentate structure, thereby to secure the attachment clip and the insert together. The locking device preferably is a suitably shaped spring. The insert is either tubular in shape, or a longitudinal segment of a tube. Rotation of the insert to one orientation disengages the dentate structure and the locking device, enabling insertion and removal of the insert. Rotation of the insert to another orientation engages the dentate structure and the locking device for locking the insert against longitudinal shifting.

  • Patent number: 4363460
Abstract: A stand for television sets comprising a pair of inverted T-shaped leg sections each comprising a pair of leg members of L-shaped configuration which interengage and nest to form a four-legged base. An elongated bolt member is fixed at the head end to one of the leg sections and has a threaded end projecting beyond the top end of the base. When the leg sections are nested, the bolt is disposed in a concealed elongated cavity defined by the leg sections. A closure cap assembly is mounted at the upper terminal end of one of the vertical portions of one of the leg sections and in the illustrated embodiment forms an integral subassembly therewith. The overcap assembly has a configuration and arrangement to vertically align the leg members relative to one another and provide a certain parallelism of the parts so that all the bearing surfaces are parallel to one another and to the support surface such as a floor.

  • Patent number: 4362415
Abstract: An extensible and retractable strut comprising telescoping pairs of members the outer of which carries a manually operable collar that is slideable between locking and unlocking positions. The collar carries a manually-releasable pivoted locking lever having an offset end that can be received in an opening of the outer member to lock the strut in adjusted position against release when the collar is in its locking position. When the collar is in the unlocking position, the offset portion of the lever is out of registration with the opening and instead bears against the exterior of the outer member. For such circumstance the members are relatively moveable between their extended and retracted positions. A keying means carried by the collar is engageable with cooperable means on the outer member to maintain the collar in a given aligning position.

  • Patent number: 4362286
Abstract: A thermal connector adapted to connect a calorie dissipating support to a thermal drain. It comprises a deformable metal two-part clamp, each part of which is constituted by two webs conforming to the shape of the dissipating support, as regards one of said clamp-parts, and the shape of the thermal drain, as regards the other clamp-part. Said connector is also provided, between said two clamp-parts, with a housing for an actuating-key with longitudinal edges, said key having a position of rest at which said longitudinal edges do not exert any force whatever on the walls of said central housing, the webs of the end clamp-parts being then moved apart and said connector being unlocked, and a working position, obtained by causing said key to rotate by a quarter turn with respect to said position of rest; said key has then the function of moving apart the walls of said central housing and to draw the webs of each of said end clamp-parts nearer to each other, said connector being thus locked.
