  • Patent number: 8559381
Abstract: A predetermined parameter is used to determine a rate of uplink radio resources to downlink radio resources. Then an uplink radio resource is mapped to a unique one of the downlink radio resources dependent at least in part on the rate. There is then received on the mapped unique one of the downlink radio resources a reply to the uplink radio resource. Apparatus and computer programs are also described, for both a user equipment and a network node.

  • Patent number: 8559463
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for efficiently transmitting packetized data from a sender to a receiver over a communications link. A compression context is established between the sender and the receiver based upon commonalities in each of the data packets prior to transmitting the data over the communications link. The data is compressed according to the compression context to thereby create compressed data packets, and the compressed data packets are transmitted to the receiver across the communications link. By establishing compression contexts prior to transmission, the need for in-band signaling is reduced or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 8553726
Abstract: In a network, at least first and second messages (801, 802) are transmitted to a user equipment (UE) regarding multimedia point-to-multipoint services. The first messages comprise information regarding a first set of at least one service and the second messages comprise information regarding a second set of at least one service. The transmission of first messages is scheduled with a first periodicity (T1) and the transmission of second messages is scheduled with a second periodicity (T2), the first periodicity being independent from said second periodicity. Therefore, an overhead caused by transmitting of unnecessary information can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8547830
Abstract: A disclosed example method involves determining a first quality of service parameter associated with a failed logical circuit, and a second quality of service parameter associated with a logical failover circuit. When the first quality of service parameter is equal to or less than the second quality of service parameter, data from the failed logical circuit is rerouted to the logical failover circuit without requiring authorization from a customer to communicate the data at the second quality of service parameter. When the second quality of service parameter is a lower level of quality than the first quality of service parameter, the customer is prompted for authorization to communicate the data via the logical failover circuit at the second quality of service parameter. When authorization is received, the data is rerouted to the logical failover circuit. When authorization is denied, the data is not rerouted to the logical failover circuit.

  • Patent number: 8531994
Abstract: An audio processing method includes: after the terminal accesses the control server, the control server obtains audio capabilities of the terminal through capability negotiation; and the control server forwards the coded audio data to each terminal according to the audio capabilities. An audio processing system and a control server are disclosed. In the embodiments of the present disclosure, the audio data does not need to undergo an operation of audio coding and decoding every time when the audio data passes through a control server, and the number of coding and decoding operations performed by the control server are reduced drastically. Especially, in the case that only one control server exists, the audio delay between terminals only derives from network transmission, coding of the sending terminal and decoding of the receiving terminal, and the control server extracts and reassembles the packets of the audio data only.

  • Patent number: 8400934
Abstract: A method and apparatus of performing discontinuous reception (DRX) and downlink inter-frequency and inter-radio access technology (RAT) measurements in CELL_FACH state are disclosed. While in DRX mode, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may perform inter-frequency and inter-RAT measurements in a measurement occasion that fall into a DRX period. The WTRU may perform the measurements while T321 timer is running. The WTRU may take the measurements on first predetermined number of frame in which a DRX frame would coincide after a last reception frame if DRX operation was ongoing. The WTRU may periodically wake up for downlink reception in CELL_FACH state in accordance with a common DRX pattern that is common to all WTRUs in a cell or may wake up from DRX upon reception of the order and receiving a common traffic.

  • Patent number: 8355361
Abstract: The Ethernet converter includes a LAN switch, an RF device and an antenna, a wired device monitoring module, and an RF device controller. The RF device and the antenna carry out communication with wireless network devices. The wired device monitoring module monitors the operation state of the wired network devices via the LAN switch. The RF device controller controls the operation of the RF device on the basis of the operating state of the wired network devices. If the result of monitoring is that the wired network devices are not operating, the RF device controller stops the operation of the RF device so that power consumption by the RF device is less than when the wired network devices are operating.

  • Patent number: 8290036
Abstract: A system apparatus and method for concurrent delivery of a plurality of video streams comprising one or more transcoders for bitrate reduction and a cache memory to save copies of transcoded segments. When the total outgoing bitrate of the system exceeds a predefined threshold, the system decides which of the video segments to transcode and the magnitude of bitrate reduction. Before assigning a transcoder for the bitrate reduction, the system first checks the cache for saved transcoded segments. If appropriate transcoded segments are not found in cache, the system may assign a transcoder for the video segments designated for bitrate reduction.

  • Patent number: RE44104
Abstract: A cross-layer architecture for a network device having a number of network interfaces is provided. Each of the network interfaces implements a number of low level layers of a protocol stack and includes an associated network based cross-layer agent. The network device also includes an application based cross-layer agent associated with one or more high level protocol stack layers including an application layer. When the application layer desires to form a network connection to another network device, an arbitration agent operates to identify one of the network interfaces for the network connection. The arbitration agent then effects interconnection of the application based cross-layer agent and the network based cross-layer agent of the network interface and interconnection of the high level protocol stack layers and the low level protocol stack layers of the network interface, thereby forming a complete protocol stack having a cross-layer architecture for the network connection.
