  • Patent number: 8223632
Abstract: A method and system are provided for prioritized rerouting of logical circuit data in a data network. A logical circuit failure is identified in the data network. Following the identification of the logical circuit failure, a quality of service parameter for the communication of data in the failed logical circuit is determined. The quality of service parameter may include a traffic descriptor indicating the quality of the data communicated in the logical circuit. Then, a logical failover circuit comprising an alternate communication path for communicating the data in the failed logical circuit is identified. Next, a quality of service parameter for the communication of data in the logical failover circuit is determined. If the quality of service parameter for the failed logical circuit is equal to the quality of service parameter for the logical failover circuit, then the data from the failed logical circuit is rerouted to the logical failover circuit.

  • Patent number: 8218632
Abstract: A frame interpolation apparatus generates a pixel value at an interpolation position by examining pairs of pixel blocks, one from a preceding reference frame and one from a following reference frame, located in positions that are point-symmetric or nearly point-symmetric with respect to the interpolation position. The pair of pixel blocks showing the greatest mutual similarity is selected, the central pixels in the selected pair of pixel blocks are taken as reference pixels, and the interpolated pixel value is generated from the reference pixel values. By routinely examining a large number of pairs of pixel blocks for each interpolation position, the frame interpolation apparatus can detect image motion accurately and generate accurate interpolated values.

  • Patent number: 8194680
Abstract: Techniques are described for managing communications between multiple computing nodes, such as computing nodes that are part of a virtual computer network. In some situations, various types of modifications may be made to one or more computing nodes of an existing virtual computer network, and the described techniques include managing ongoing communications for those computing nodes so as to accommodate the modifications. Such modifications may include, for example, migrating or otherwise moving a particular computing node that is part of a virtual network to a new physical network location, or modifying other aspects of how the computing node participates in the virtual network (e.g., changing one or more virtual network addresses used by the computing node). In some situations, the computing nodes may include virtual machine nodes hosted on one or more physical computing machines or systems, such as by or on behalf of one or more users.

  • Patent number: 8179924
Abstract: A system and method are provided for synchronizing a programmable timer time base and an external time signal. The method either accepts or supplies an external time signal (e.g., IEEE 1588) at an external interface, links a synchronized time base to the external time signal, and clocks a channel time base with the synchronized time base. Then, a timer channel can be used to perform programmable timer functions in response to the channel time base. Some programmable timer functions include input capture, output compare, quadrature decoding, pulse measurement, frequency measurement, and pulse width modulation (PWM) functions. In one aspect, accepting the external time signal at the external interface includes detecting a packet with a time value. In another aspect, the method uses the channel to detect an event at a channel external interface, and compares the channel time base counter value with an expected value to modify the synchronized time base.

  • Patent number: 8179903
Abstract: Local breakout is provided by one or more nodes (e.g., a local access point and/or a local gateway) in a wireless network to facilitate access to one or more local services. In conjunction with local breakout, multiple IP points of presence relating to different levels of service may be provided for an access point. For example, one point of presence may relate to a local service while another point of presence may relate to a core network service. IP point of presence may be identified for an over-the-air packet to indicate a termination point for the packet. Also, different mobility management functionality may be provided at different nodes in a system whereby mobility management for a given node may be provided by a different node for different types of traffic. Thus, an access terminal may support multiple NAS instances. In addition, different types of paging may be provided for different types of traffic.

  • Patent number: 8155150
Abstract: A method may be performed by a device in a network, the device including multiple security process units (SPUs). The method includes receiving a packet over the network, the packet including a media access control (MAC) address, and assigning one SPU as the MAC address owner. The method also includes sending information about the MAC address to other SPUs within the device, storing the MAC address in a MAC table within each SPU, and initiating a MAC age query to confirm the MAC address has timed out among all SPUs. The MAC age query is passed via a logical ring of the SPUs beginning with the MAC address owner. If the MAC address is aged out at each SPU, the MAC address is deleted from each MAC table. If the MAC entry is still active, a different SPU is assigned as the MAC address owner.

  • Patent number: 8155058
Abstract: Client balancing in a wireless digital network comprising a plurality of access nodes connected to a controller. Access nodes collect client density information and periodically report that client density information to the controller. The controller uses the client density information from the access nodes to compute Virtual RF Neighborhoods, identifying Virtual RF neighboring access nodes. Two access nodes are Virtual RF neighbors if a client which can connect to one access node can also connect to the other access node. The controller then identifies which nodes are overloaded by comparing the client loading of a target access node to the client loading of its Virtual RF neighbors. If an access node is identified as overloaded and selected for client balancing on a particular channel, it will initially refuse new association requests from client devices on that channel.

  • Patent number: 8155047
Abstract: A communication station receives data from a transmission station, transmits a reception response representing the data reception condition, and determines, based on reception responses from other communication stations, whether communication station which has not normally received the data from the transmission station exists among the other communications. Upon normally receiving the data from the transmission station, and determining that the communication station which has not normally received the data from the transmission station exists, the communication station transfers, to the communication station which has not normally received the data, the data received from the transmission station. upon transferring, it is decided, based on a predetermined priority order, whether or not to perform the transfer to the communication station which has not normally received the data.

  • Patent number: 8144602
Abstract: A load tester is configured to generate traffic streams for testing a network. The traffic streams can include one or more stream objects. Each stream object can be characterized by a unique identifier and can include a fixed number of frames. The frames can share the same S_ID and D_ID while being characterized by a unique sequence count. The load tester can receive a plurality of frames, all or some of which belong to a stream object, and analyze the received frames in real-time to identify the occurrence of one or more errors such as out-of-order frame errors, dropped frame errors, and misdirected frame errors. The different types of errors can be individually recorded.

  • Patent number: 8139597
Abstract: A subscriber unit monitors a first channel currently serving as a rest channel for the system, wherein the channel currently serving as the rest channel for the system is monitored by subscribers that are idle in the system. The subscriber unit determines that a first call is being initiated on the first channel. If the first call is not of interest, the subscriber unit ceases to monitor the first channel, and monitors a second channel that will serve as the rest channel for the system when the first call starts on the first channel. If the first call is of interest, the subscriber unit participates in the first call on the first channel, and before or after the first call ends, participates in a second call on a third channel or monitors a channel currently serving as the rest channel for the system when the subscriber unit becomes idle.
