  • Patent number: 4865524
Abstract: A variable capacity compressor for an air conditioning system. A passage extends between a suction chamber and a high-pressure chamber, in which is arranged a control valve device having a pressure-responsive portion displaceable in response to change in pressure within the passage. A capacity control device controls the delivery quantity of the compressor in response to opening and closing of the passage by the control valve device. The control valve device opens and closes the passage in response to change in pressure within the suction chamber representative of a thermal load on the air conditioning system to thereby cause the capacity control device to vary the delivery quantity of the compressor. An auxiliary low-pressure chamber is provided in the passage, within which the pressure-responsive portion is disposed. A restriction hole communicates the suction chamber with the auxiliary low-pressure chamber for introducing pressure within the suction chamber into the auxiliary low-pressure chamber.

  • Patent number: 4864916
Abstract: A hydraulic pump/motor in which working piston elements are arranged for radial reciprocation. A cam is arranged eccentrically to a rotor which carries the pistons. Fluid cavities are provided in feet on the pistons, in the faces of a polygon to which the feet are attacahed, and in bearing pads in the outer ends of the cylinders to provide hydrostatic balancing. The pistons are hollow and are equipped with check valves to prevent centrifugal force from expelling fluid from the polygon and foot cavities. The cam includes mating spherical surfaces which compensate for bending forces applied to the cam. An improved mechanism for adjusting the cam position uses inherent forces to eliminate the need for a power assist device for cam adjustment. Port plates on opposite sides of the rotor provide inlet to the unit near the axis of the unit and outlet near the outer edge to alleviate stresses and increase efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4863356
Abstract: A multi-cylinder piston-operated compressor having a combined cylinder block closed on both axial ends by front and rear housing and provided therein with a reciprocative piston mechanism, for sucking, compressing, and discharging a refrigerant gas, and a connecting flange, from which the refrigerant gas after compression is sent toward a cooling circuit. The connecting flange defines a muffling chamber in cooperation with a circumferential section of the combined cylinder block for suppressing the pulsation in discharge pressure of the refrigerant gas. The compressor further has a gas expansion chamber in which an expansion and a partial collision of the compressed refrigerant gas spouted from orifices take plate to weaken the pulsation in the discharge pressure of the gas with the least discharge loss.

  • Patent number: 4862700
Abstract: A method for controlling the operation of a variable displacement refrigerant compressor arranged in a car air-conditioner circuit and driven by a car engine via a solenoid clutch is carried out in a manner such that, when a car engine rotating speed is lower than an idling speed and when either one of a brake pedal or a manual brake of the car is released after temporary stoppage of the car, a control device having a CPU unit therein issues a control signal to cause a displacement varying wobble plate element of the variable displacement refrigerant compressor to be always moved angularly to a predetermined position to obtain a minimum displacement condition of the compressor, so that the compressor is restarted from the minimum displacement condition when the car is restarted after a temporary stoppage thereof at, e.g., an intersection of a vehicle road.

  • Patent number: 4861235
Abstract: A variable capacity type compressor in which a control element is mounted in one of side blocks formed with inlet ports for rotation about its own axis in opposite circumferential directions between a first extreme position providing the maximum capacity of the compressor, and a second extreme position providing the minimum capacity of the compressor, to vary the compression starting timing. The control element has cut-out portions through which compression medium is drawn into compression spaces, of which one upstream end with respect to the direction of rotor rotation determines the compression starting timing in cooperation with vanes passing same. The cut-out portion is formed of first and second portions circumferentially arranged.

  • Patent number: 4861238
Abstract: A pulsation preventive member for use with a pump constructed in the form of a hose disposed in a pump fluid passage. The hose is located in a fuel tank in such a manner that one end of the hose is connected with the pump and the other end of the hose is connected with a injector or the like. The hose is constructed so as to substantially inhibit pulsation by elastically deforming. The hose may have a substantially circular cross-sectional shape and a mesh-shaped thread layer incorporated therein. The mesh angle of the thread layer is preferably less than 50 degrees. Alternatively, the hose may have non-circular cross-sectional shape such as rectangular or elliptical cross-sectional shape. Further, the hose may be constructed so as to have a double-walled structure comprising an inner layer and an outer layer in the form of a hose with a plurality of connecting members interposed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4860641
Abstract: A wobble plate of the type for operating in a variable displacement compressor including a plurality of pistons operatively connected to the wobble plate by a plurality of dumb-bell like piston rods having spherical end portions and a connecting rod extending therebetween. The wobble plate includes a plurality of sockets including an integral lip for retaining the spherical portion of the piston rods contained within each of the sockets against axial displacement and a passageway extending radially outwardly from each of the sockets and opening to a peripheral edge of the wobble plate for allowing insertion of the piston rods from a direction substantially perpendicular relative to the central axis of the wobble plate. Plugs disposed within the passageway prevent inadvertent radial displacement of the spherical ends of the rod members from the sockets.

  • Patent number: 4856966
Abstract: A power source (14) rotates an eccentric (20) engaged within the center of a relatively large drive roller (22) to rotate the drive roller while simultaneously orbiting the center of the drive roller about a circular path so as to cyclically advance and retract from piston assemblies (24) located within pump assemblies (16a-16d). Rotation of the eccentric (20) causes each piston assembly (24) to cyclically advance against and retract from a flexible diaphragm (26) to cause fluid entering the pump assembly to be forced out under pressure. Each diaphragm (26) is "backed" by a spring-loaded support (27) that resiliently pushes against the side of the diaphragm opposite the piston assembly.

  • Patent number: 4850812
Abstract: An integrated motor pump unit for use as a hydraulic fluid pressure source at a remote location incorporates a pump rotor affixed in the center of a motor rotor. The motor/pump rotor assembly spins on a fixed shaft in a combination providing both radial journal and axial thrust bearings. The stationary shaft assembly incorporates a piston drive mechanism which is angled, relative to the shaft axis, so that reciprocal movement of the pistons is developed as they rotate about the axis. The fixed rotor shaft is axially adjustable to control the end clearance between the pistons and cam surfaces, and contains fluid flow galleries to the journal and thrust bearings. A magnetically permeable sleeve is mounted between the motor stator and rotor to seal the hydraulic fluid within the rotor space, thereby maintaining the stator windings and associated electronic circuitry in a dry environment.
