  • Patent number: 9376796
Abstract: Reconfigurable, expandable-collapsible structures based upon negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) auxetic unit cells achieve rapidly deployable apparatus, devices and systems. A plurality of joint bodies, each joint body having a plurality of connection features, are coupled to interconnecting link members with opposing ends, each end including connection features that engage with the connection features of the joint bodies. The link members pivot about different axes relative to the joint bodies, thereby forming an expandable and collapsible structure having a height and a width. The link members form an array of geometric unit cells when the structure is expanded, and the height and the width of the structure when expanded are both greater than the height and the width of the structure when collapsed. In certain embodiments the structures have unit cells based upon triangles or bowtie shapes.

  • Patent number: 9370226
Abstract: A cane with grasping fingers. The cane includes a hollow shaft having a first end and a second end, a grasping mechanism within the first end of the shaft, and a release mechanism adjacent to the second end of the shaft. The release mechanism includes a handle, a trigger within the handle, and a release button. Pressing the release button extends the trigger beyond the handle and extends the grasping fingers beyond the first end of the shaft so that the grasping fingers are separated by a first distance. Squeezing the handle retracts the grasping fingers and reduces the distance between the grasping fingers to a second distance less than the first distance. Squeezing the handle so that the grasping fingers are fully retracted into the first end of the shaft results in the trigger and the grasping mechanism being locked into place until the release button is pressed again.

  • Patent number: 9320671
Abstract: A set of ergonomic handgrips and arm pads make the use of crutches or other walking assist devices more comfortable and less likely to cause repetitive stress injuries. A metacarpal protrusion of the each handgrip is angled outward at about 5 to 25 degrees from front to back when installed to place the user's wrists at a more ergonomic angle (approximately 15 degrees inward rotation). The metacarpal protrusion produces a substantially flat surface with a downward slope. Each handgrip spreads the load out over the hand of the user eliminating pressure. The handgrips can be fitted on crutches, a walker, a cane, or another walking assist device. The arm pad has a pair of protrusions that produce a recess on the side facing away from a user's chest which engages a user's arm and keeps the crutch top positioned correctly while the crutch is in use by the user.

  • Patent number: 9279268
Abstract: An easy fold layout hunting blind framework structure comprises two upper supporting frames, two side supporting frames, and four supporting feet. When folding, four supporting feet can be folded towards four foot stocks, and two side supporting frames can turn downwards to come close to each other, and two upper supporting frames can be folded towards the two side supporting frames and, thus, the operation is easy. On the other hand, when developing for use, the only thing to do is to develop two side supporting frames, and develop four supporting feet, when turning both upper supporting frames so as to make their straight portions closely press each other thereby completing the developing operation. The operation is simple without using hand tools or detaching any component parts.
