Abstract: Disclosed herein are crosslinked spherical fine particles having good toughness, elastic properties, and chemical properties, and a process for producing the same, said fine particles being obtained by radical polymerization in the suspended state of a component [M] capable of radical polymerization containing a vinyl group-containing compound (V) capable of radical polymerization which is obtained by reaction of (a) a selected polyol, (b) an isocyanate group-containing compound, and (c) an active hydrogen-containing vinyl monomer capable of radical polymerization. Also disclosed herein are the secondary products of the crosslinked spherical fine particles, which include a coating composition and its derivatives (such as filmlike article, sheetlike article, adhesive filmlike article, and adhesive sheetlike article) and a peelable pressure-sensitive adhesive and peelable pressure-sensitive adhesive article.
Abstract: A process is provided for suspension polymerization of water-soluble monomers in aqueous suspension to form spherical, unagglomerated polymer beads. The polymerization is conducted in the presence of a nonionic, substituted hydroxyalkylcellulose dispersant which is especially effective in protecting the monomer droplets from coalescence prior to their forming stable polymer particles.

Abstract: Methods of producing particulate, absorbent, polymeric compositions comprising interparticle crosslinked aggregates. In the methods of the present invention, an interparticle crosslinking agent is applied onto precursor particles; the precursor particles are physically associated to form a multiplicity of aggregates; and the interparticle crosslinking agent is reacted with the polymer material of the precursor particles of the aggregates, while maintaining the physical association of the precursor particles, to form crosslink bonds between the precursor particles to form interparticle crosslinked aggregates. The interparticle crosslinked aggregates are formed to such an extent that the mass average particle size of the polymeric composition is at least about 25% greater than the mass average particle size of the precursor particles.

Abstract: New contact adhesives which are designed as multifunctional contact reactive adhesives and which may be used in a multistage curing process, for example for bonding wood, plastic moldings, metals and the like, are provided. One of the functional substituents of the adhesive composition is characterized by the presence of an olefinic double bond which is accessible to radical reaction initiation. The other functional substituent is an isocyanate group which reacts off, e.g. under the effect of moisture. These different reaction mechanisms enable the reactive contact adhesive to be cured in stages, e.g. by forming contact-sensitive adhesive layers on hard surfaces in a first stage, subsequently fitting the correspondingly coated surfaces together and firmly bonding them together in a final stage, e.g. under the effect of atmospheric moisture. Also provided is a process for the production of the new reactive contact adhesives.

Abstract: A maleimide-based copolymer is provided, in which the content of compound (X) shown by the formula (I) is controlled in a range which does not adversely affect the physical properties of the copolymer. Such a copolymer includes an aromatic vinyl-based monomer unit and a maleimide-based monomer unit as essential components, proportion y of the maleimide-based monomer unit in structure is 35 to 65% by weight, and a content of the compound (X) is 3% or less and also, does not exceed a numeral value of 0.06y. The copolymer is prepared by radical copolymerization which is carried out by supplying gradually an aromatic vinyl-based monomer and a maleimide-based monomer into a reaction vessel under a condition of keeping these monomers separated without mixing together beforehand.
Abstract: Copolymer solutions, based on addition products of .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid with glycidyl esters and copolymerisable .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated monomers, with a remarkably high as-copolymerized solids content of about 80% by weight and which can be processed with polyisocyanates into high solids two-component coatings having a good processing viscosity. The copolymers contain a methoxy-functional polysiloxane as copolymerized units. The copolymers can be processed with amino resins into binders for baking finishes which used as improved clear coatings for automotive topcoating produce paint films which possess excellent abrasion resistance in car washes.

Abstract: An adhesive which exhibits excellent adhesiveness and is capable of firmly adhering an acrylic resin and a silicone rubber together at a temperature of as low as about 20.degree. to 30.degree.
