Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for managing user focus change between applications on a computer are provide. A current user focus application is identified that is executing on the computer and has a current user focus. A current state of execution of the current user focus application is determined. Information characterizing a focus criticality of the determined current state of execution of the current user focus application is obtained. A request from another application executing on the computer to change the current user focus to the other application is limited based on the focus criticality of the determined current state of execution of the current user focus application. The request from the other application to change the current user focus to the other application is allowed responsive to a user override authorization regardless of the focus criticality of the determined current state of execution of the current user focus application.

Abstract: A method is provided for playing a video clip on a computer monitor in a full screen mode. Activation of a link to the video clip on a web page results in the video clip being played automatically in full screen mode on the computer monitor. Upon the video clip ending, the full screen mode ends and returns the display to the previous view of the web page. The full screen mode plays the video clip with an integrated transparent video control panel that has controls to enable user control of the playing of the video clip.

Abstract: A toolbar displays dynamically configured controls based on a size of a window in which an application is running and on the media type presented. A large set of available controls may be available for the toolbar; however, the size of the application window in which the application is running may not be able to display all of the available controls in the window in such as way as to be comfortably used by a user. Accordingly, the controls may be scaled, filtered, and interchanged according to the “real estate” available in the application window, as well as other contextual aspects of the application, to provide a more user-friendly experience.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for drawing graphics, such as to display a user interface on a display of a mobile device. A graphics stack is used to store pre-computed coordinate values to improve performance for drawing graphics, such as to display a user interface on a display of a mobile device.

Abstract: Methods and systems described herein may comprise determining, for each of a plurality of potential related companies, a correlation factor of a related company metric of the potential related company relative to a focal company metric and selecting at least one related company having a correlation factor relative to the focal company within a first range. The methods may also comprise displaying a focal company field listing an identifier of the focal company and displaying a correlation field listing identifiers for the at least one related company, where certain of the identifiers comprise a hyperlink. When one of the hyperlinks is activated, the company corresponding to the activated hyperlink may become the new focal company. The correlation field may list identifiers for at least one new related company having a related company metric with a correlation factor relative to the focal company metric of the new focal company within the first range.

Abstract: A system that captures both whiteboard content and audio signals of a meeting using a digital camera and a microphone. The system can be retrofit to any existing whiteboard. It computes the time stamps of pen strokes on the whiteboard by analyzing the sequence of captured snapshots. It also automatically produces a set of key frames representing all the written content on the whiteboard before each erasure. The whiteboard content serves as a visual index to efficiently browse the audio meeting. The system not only captures the whiteboard content, but also helps the users to view and manage the captured meeting content efficiently and securely.

The method includes positioning identifiers associated with interface elements in a hierarchy, providing a value for each identifier, the value reflecting a position for the identifier in the hierarchy relative to at least one other identifier in the hierarchy, and enabling selection of the interface elements using the identifiers in the hierarchy.

Abstract: A system for creating user defined advertisements. The system comprises a computer readable storage medium. The medium comprises a digitized film/video; an attribute database comprising predetermined attributes. Each attribute correlates to at least one scene of the film/video. An advertisement database is provided comprising predetermined advertisements of the film/video. A publication database is provided comprising critiques of the film/video. The medium also comprises selection instructions for the user to select, for viewing, one of the digitized film/video, the selected scene, the predetermined advertisements or the critiques. A machine capable of reading the computer readable storage medium implements the instructions for viewing.

Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a rendering circuit to visualize large format data files on a narrow display. The large format data files are rendered using either a desktop display mode or a mobile display mode. The desktop display mode renders the data file using data file-specified dimensions and resolutions. The data file is viewable in its entirety by automatic scrolling achieved by moving a cursor near the edge of the display. Data file elements may be edited while in desktop display mode. The mobile display mode renders the elements of the data file as a list with minimal regard for spatial orientation. Navigation in mobile display mode is field-to-field.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a user interface to a user may comprise finding a degree of similarity between each of a plurality of potential similar companies and a focal company. From the plurality of potential similar companies, at least one similar company may be selected having a degree of similarity with the focal company that is greater than a first threshold. An identifier of the focal company may be listed in a focal company field. Identifiers for the at least one similar company may be listed in a similar company field. Certain of the identifiers listed in the similar company field may include a hyperlink which, when activated by a user, causes a computer system to list the company corresponding to the activated hyperlink as a new focal company in the focal company field; determine at least one new similar company having a degree of similarity with the new focal company that is greater than the first threshold; and display the at least one new similar company at the similar company field.

Abstract: A method of controlling a mobile communication device, which includes displaying a menu list and a scroll bar for scrolling the menu list on a touch screen of the terminal, receiving a dragging signal if a dragging operation has been performed from the scroll bar directly to the menu list, receiving a direction signal indicating a direction in which the dragging operation is performed within the menu list, and scrolling the menu list based on the received direction signal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of selecting buttons displayed in a graphics bar on a display screen. The entry of a first navigation command triggers the selection of a first button adjacent to the one selected in the bar. This first button is graphically highlighted. Then, the entry of a second navigation command in order to select a second button adjacent to the one previously selected triggers the selection and highlighting of a third button located in another position on the bar serving as a starting point for subsequent navigation commands. In this way, the user can skip from one button to another button located in any other location in the bar.

Abstract: A reproduction list is produced, in which audio data and still image data coexist and a reproduction order thereof is specified. Items of the audio data and the still image data are grouped so as to be associated with each other based on the point of transition between the audio data and the still image data in the reproduction list, and the audio data and the still image data in the same group are reproduced simultaneously.

Abstract: A sequence of cards representing filters is displayed along a first axis of a user interface with a single card being displayed in a focus area. The card in the focus area defines a selected object type filter, which is applied to another sequence of available options. The filtered sequence is then displayed along another (perpendicular) axis of the user interface, which only includes options corresponding to the selected option type filter.

Abstract: A user is enabled to select multiple objects in a document which is opened in an editor and contains selectable objects by presenting each of the objects as an entry of plurality of entries in a separate window; allowing the user to select multiple entries; and selecting multiple objects corresponding to the selected multiple entries in the editor based on the entries selected by the user. An Assistive Technology application may be called to provide related information and selection state of the operated object based on a user's operation on any one of the entries. The multiple objects can be selected in the document with a keyboard to help disabled users, such as low vision users or blind users.

When a ticker item is selected from the ticker, a location associated with the selected ticker item and/or a location of the communication device is used to generate a map that is displayed on the display of the device to the user.

Abstract: An application program is configured to display a screen in a display format when the application program is installed on a computer. Each of a plurality of screen display data files includes screen-display data for displaying a screen in respective ones of a plurality of display formats. A screen configuration data file includes display-format data specifying one of the plurality of display formats. An installer installs on the computer the application program, the plurality of screen display data files, and the screen configuration data file. The application program determines the display format based on the screen configuration data file when the application program is started on the computer, and displays the screen in the display format by using one of the plurality of screen display data files that corresponds to the display format specified by the screen configuration data file.
