Abstract: Systems and methods have been developed for displaying contextually relevant advertisements to users as media objects are being rendered. One or more data sources with contextual information for different portions of each media object are maintained. From this contextual information, keywords may be generated and used to locate contextually-related advertisements. The advertisements are selected based on contextual information about the media object in order to match or otherwise be contextually relevant with the media content being rendered. As the subject matter of the media object changes during rendering, different advertisements related to the new context are provided that replace the prior advertisement. The advertisements are displayed in an area that could be used for other purposes when the rendering device is not rendering media objects.

Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium for using a context aware viewport module to graphically display, and interact with, a viewport. The context aware viewport is implemented in a graphical user interface (GUI) and comprises a spatially context aware informational portion and a viewport portion.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating one or more playlists of a predefined length. The invention allows dynamic creation of different playlists for differing times, locations, and other circumstances and also provides for the dynamic selection of products for inclusion in a playlist based on the content of one or more of the individual products. Creation of a playlist may be based on a priority scheme with priority values indicating the relative importance of the products. Creation may also involve determining or adjusting the lengths of one or more products selected for the playlist so that the total length of the playlist will equal a set, predetermined, or otherwise predefined playlist length. Methods and systems according to the present invention provide flexible, efficient, and manageable techniques for creating different playlists of similar product types for both varying circumstances (e.g., time, location, etc.) and varying products of those product types (e.g.

Abstract: A method for templates for implementing instant message themes is provided. For example, the user selects between a “to-do” theme, an “invite” theme, a “postcard” theme, a “reminder” theme, etc. If the user selects the “to-do” theme, the to-do template may prompt the user to input a description of the task to be performed and a due date/time. An instant message is sent to a recipient who is to perform the task. The recipient's instant message application displays a to-do in a themed IM window. The themed IM window may have special features that are related to the interactions for the to-do theme. For example, the themed IM window can have a “completed indicator” for the recipient to send a completion notice to the sender. Alternatively, the themed IM window could have a button to perform the task. In response to performing the task, the to-do theme could automatically send a completion notice.

Abstract: A system and method for creating and presenting modal dialog boxes in web-based applications is presented herein. The invention includes client devices that initiate requests for webpages that include modal dialog boxes and a server that receives and processes the web page requests and includes modal dialog controls to generate HTML instructions to render and display the modal dialog boxes at the client devices. The modal dialog controls include a web rendering module to determine the existence of children controls within the modal dialog box and to generate display related information. The modal dialog controls also include an event handling module to intercept attempts to access elements of the web page while the modal dialog box has not been responded to.

Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a method of viewing images accessible by an embedded system, the method comprises: generating a trimmed image from an original image accessible by an embedded system, wherein the trimmed image's dimension are relatively smaller or equal to the dimensions of the original image; generating a thumbnail image from the trimmed image, such that dimensions of the thumbnail image are relatively smaller and directly proportional to the respective dimensions of the trimmed image; and associating the thumbnail image with the original image so that in response to selection of the thumbnail image the original image is displayed on the embedded system's display unit.

A system is provided that includes: a graphical data display system for displaying a structured diagram having a plurality of nodes; a navigation system for allowing a user to launch a viewport at a selected node within the structured diagram to view subnodes of the selected node; and a context maintenance system that maintains a visual context between each of the plurality of nodes and subnodes within the structured diagram.

Abstract: An automatic scrolling mechanism converts an information repository into media that can actively present and “push” information to the users/viewers while retaining existing “pull” and interactivity functions. Automatic scrolling can be controlled by placing a cursor on control icons, such as boxes, lines, and arrow clusters. While the cursor is on an icon, automatic scrolling brings into view content that extends beyond the field of view. The scrolled content is moved into the field of view of the display window in a predetermined direction designated by the icon. Sub-windows are also designed to be independently and automatically scrolled or floated with respect the main window. Links created in an information repository may be automatically activated to retrieve the linked information, and to automatically present and scroll the information. As the content is automatically scrolled, the repository is pushed and the user is allured to further navigate through the repository.

Abstract: A medical diagnostic system and method having an application configured to generate a user-interface screen comprising a plurality of interface items. A configuration file is stored on the system and includes identification data of the items and a guarded designation for at least one guarded item. A dynamic link library is configured to receive the identification data and the guarded designation from the configuration file, and a server operative on the system for serving the user-interface screen to a remote client. The guarded item of the user-interface screen served to the remote client may have an altered appearance to the remote client and/or may be inoperable to the remote client.

For those applications accessing the records of a common patient, a visual indication is provided indicating whether or not records of the same patient are being accessed to prevent the user from mistakenly comparing the records of different patients.

A static representation is generated that comprises a timeline representing the duration of the time-based media information. Occurrences of one or more events that occur in the time-based representation are indicated along the timeline in the static representation. Abstract: A method and system for displaying information related to a plurality of resources in a network environment. The system uses web technology to receive and store information related to back-end resources and to provide a framework by which client computer systems can manage the plurality of back-end resources in a uniform manner. In accordance with one method, a request is received to display object information from different network resources. In response, attribute and task information is retrieved from the appropriate different network resources and this information is displayed. A graphical user interface (GUI) displays information related to network resource objects. The GUI includes a console displaying a tool zone and a work zone. A module is displayed in the work zone having an object zone displaying a list of objects and a task zone displaying a list of tasks.

Abstract: A three-dimensional browser wherein in an exemplary embodiment, information from a uniform resource locator is converted into at least one texture. The texture is mapped onto a surface of a three-dimensional object located in a virtual three-dimensional space in order to provide a three-dimensional navigation mechanism. In an alternate arrangement an event associated with an image is intercepted and the location of the event in the corresponding geometric surface of the virtual three-dimensional space is computed. This location is converted to a two-dimensional coordinate and thereafter information pertaining to the event is placed on the surface on the three-dimensional object in the virtual three-dimensional space.

Temporal information, semantic information, or both, can be used to assign windows to groups.

Abstract: An interactive inventive pictorial menu is provided, which may be superimposed over internet art obtained, for instance, from the internet. The interactive inventive pictorial menu provides controls by which images can be created, manipulated and supplemented by overlaying additional images accessed through menu software providing Internet Art Programs and Menu Art Programs. The combination of images may be utilized to facilitate creating further inventions or creative prospects. In one non-limiting embodiment, the images created by the user of the interactive inventive pictorial menu may then be used with the Inventor's Menu Tic Tac Toe model. The internet art and program or menu art may be adjusted in size and location to produce an image that is well proportioned and realistic. The user may draw over the art to produce innovations and creations. Also, the art selected from menu and program art, and internet art, may be selected from a wide ranging list of subjects in menus or sub-menus.

Abstract: A computer readable storage medium includes executable instructions to invoke a rapid application development graphical user interface to define fields associated with a set of objects. The creation of new objects derived from the set of objects is facilitated using the rapid application development graphical user interface to select existing fields of the set of objects and define new object fields. Tabs are associated with the new objects. A set of tabs is selected to create a new application.
