Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and methodology providing adaptive user interface capabilities in an industrial control environment. A user interface is provided that can operate across various software and/or hardware platforms. The platforms can be adapted with smart devices and/or wearable devices to facilitate access to a control system and can be adapted as a remote web service and/or adapted to interact with the service. The user interface can be tuned or adjusted in accordance with device capabilities operating the interface and can be adjusted or modified according to various operator or administrative preferences.

Abstract: A method of using a system with at least one of audio, image, and a video comprises a plurality of frames comprising the steps of providing a usage preferences description where the usage preference description includes at least one of a browsing preferences description, a filtering preferences description, a search preferences description, and a device preferences description.

Abstract: A new slide layout having an arbitrary number of placeholders is applied to an existing slide. Placeholders in an original slide are mapped to placeholders within a new slide layout configuration. The slide layouts may be predefined slide layouts that include a predetermined number of placeholders or customized slide layouts that include an arbitrary number of placeholders. The placeholders in the original slide are mapped to a new slide layout that may have fewer, the same, or more placeholders than the original slide layout. The placeholders may be matched based on many different criteria, including, the function of the placeholder; the name of the placeholder; the type of the placeholder; and the position ID of the placeholder.

Abstract: There are disclosed methods and apparatus for telephone call initiation through an on-line search. A search response includes at least one hit corresponding to a search request, an ad having a dial link, and instructions for triggering a multi-leg phone call with a merchant phone number associated with the dial link and a user phone number. The dial link has a display portion. The search response is displayed, and the dial link is activated. A call trigger is generated in accordance with the instructions in the search response. The call trigger is for initiating a multi-leg phone call with the user phone number and the merchant phone number.

Abstract: A sequence of cards representing filters is displayed along a first axis of a user interface with a single card being displayed in a focus area. The card in the focus area defines a selected object type filter, which is applied to another sequence of available options. The filtered sequence is then displayed along another (perpendicular) axis of the user interface, which only includes options corresponding to the selected option type filter.

Abstract: An improved application sharing system and method allow sharing of documents on a per document basis rather than on a per application basis, in order to simplify the user experience and to provide a more secure sharing environment. A window marking method is used to construct a window list describing the shared and unshared status of various windows. In an embodiment of the invention, a viewer machine displays only a most recently active shared document window even when other windows are also marked as shared. In this way, a viewer's attention can be automatically focused on a current document of interest.

Abstract: A computer-based monitoring system provides interactive topology information about a synchronized optical network (SONET). The monitoring system utilizes a trunks integrated record keeping system (TIRKS) connected to the SONET for collecting status data in a raw format. A computer system retrieves the raw format status data from TIRKS and provides the data in a simple graphical user interface to a user. The interface includes several menus from which the user may specify specific components of the SONET, and a graphical output for providing a graphical representation of the SONET. The graphical output illustrates each node and link and interactively provides more detailed information about any user selected link or node.

Abstract: A method and system that organize and retrieve multimedia objects. A controller may select an identifier associated with a media object to send a request to play the media object. The controller may send the request by transmitting the identifier stored in the controller. An appliance receives the request from the controller. The appliance retrieves the media object from a first server via a network connection when the media object is not stored in the appliance. Then the appliance may play the media object.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for editing an object displayed by a computer system. Editing comprises detecting an edit operation for an object displayed on a video display of a computer system. An edit operation request is then sent to an abstraction layer via an interface provided by the abstraction layer to initiate editing of the object by the abstraction layer. The abstraction layer receives the edit operation request and determines the type of container in which the object is displayed based on properties related to the object to be edited. The abstraction layer reads a set of properties related to the object and the container in which the object is displayed. The abstraction layer may then edit the object based the properties of the container and object by modifying one or more of the properties of the container and object.

Abstract: A system and related methods permit a group of two or more users to initiate a realtime message session online, and invite participants to transmit and share digital images and other media to a common viewer tool seen by all. The messaging session may be conducted via a message server which mediates the exchange of typed, spoken or other messages back and forth amongst participants. One or more users may assume control of the commonly displayed images, for instance in a slideshow or other viewer tool. Users can discuss the displayed images or other media in realtime. The participants may each view, save, store, print or otherwise use or manipulate the copy of the image or images as presented to them. Session control of the set of displayed images may be passed from one user to another on a voluntary basis, using for example a control token or other mechanism. In embodiments shared control may be used. Out-of-order rendering and other optimizations may enhance the response time to participating viewers.

Abstract: An electronic presentation system and method provides multiple display screens for presentation materials as well as permits dynamic annotations to presentation materials that do not permanently alter the presentation materials. In a multi-windowed display interface, a currently displayed slide or the next-to-display slide can be easily annotated or otherwise modified. Thus, the presentation materials can easily be directed to any one of the display screens and any annotations can be saved for future use or simply deleted.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a user interface to real time interactive video services. The method and system allow interactive input from a viewer of the video services simultaneously with viewing the video services. The method and system also allows an interactive response to the viewer from the interactive application. To present betting information in an attractive format and maximize the information available to the bettor, a user interface to the real-time service is required. With regard to real-time betting, the bettor is presented information concerning the betting opportunities and the betting window. Since most bettors prefer to have as much information as possible prior to betting, they prefer to wait until the last possible moment to bet. The disclosed embodiments provide the bettor with betting window information and the latest information concerning the prospective wagers.

Abstract: An object of this invention is to easily identify an image file transferred from an image input apparatus and saved in an image file management apparatus. In an image file management method of saving an image file transferred from an image input apparatus in a folder created in accordance with the photographing date information of the image file, when transferred image files include one kind of photographing date, one kind of folder to save the image files is displayed on a screen as a current folder. When a plurality of kinds of photographing dates are present, a folder of an upper hierarchy which includes a plurality of folders created in correspondence with the plurality of kinds of photographing dates is displayed on the screen as the current folder.

Abstract: Tickers are populated with location-based information with interactive presentation attributes. The location-based information is selected according to the geographic location of communication devices. The location of a communication device is identified based on a GPS system, proximity to transmitters in a wireless network, user input, or using other techniques. Location-appropriate content is obtained either in real-time from the network or from a local data store at the communication device. In general location-based, context-aware content can be displayed on tickers associated with a variety of communication devices, including mobile communication devices and “immobile” or stationary personal computers.

Abstract: There are disclosed methods and apparatus for displaying telephone numbers included in data units. The data units are scanned for telephone numbers. The telephone numbers are automatically identified within the data units. When the telephone numbers are displayed as part of displays of the data units, the telephone numbers are conspicuously rendered.

Abstract: A method is provided for graphical presentation of objects and/or technical processes on a screen, as well as an editor implementing the method being provided. A tooltip appears when a pointing device such as a computer mouse for example uses its mouse pointer to remain for a predetermined time over a predetermined section of the display area, and that the tooltip graphically presents at least a part of the object and/or of the process in a modified way compared to that shown in the display area. In this way, with the aid of the tooltip, the same object and/or the same technical process can be presented in a number of views.

Abstract: A method and system for changing the zoom applied to a document. A request is received to change the zoom of a document displayed in a viewing area. A focal point is determined based on whether an insertion point or active selection is currently displayed in the viewing area. Then, the viewable area of the document is displayed in the viewing area based on the focal point and the zoom change.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing graphical user interfaces are described. To provide greater access and consolidation to frequently used items in the graphical user interface, a userbar is established which includes a plurality of item representations. To permit a greater number of items to reside in the userbar, a magnification function can be provided which magnifies items within the userbar when they are proximate the cursor associated with the graphical user interface.

Abstract: There are disclosed methods and apparatus for displaying telephone numbers. Before displaying data units, the data units are scanned for telephone numbers. The telephone numbers are automatically identified within the data units. When the telephone numbers are displayed as part of displays of the data units, the telephone numbers are caused to have a display attribute which renders the telephone numbers conspicuous to a user.

Abstract: The timing, order, frequency or presentation attributes of content items in a ticker of a communication device are selected or determined using a scheduling system of the ticker. The location of the communication device is one of many attributes that may be used in a scoring algorithm employed by the scheduling system to determine when and how received content is displayed in the ticker. Based on the attributes that are considered by the scheduling system, ticker content is displayed on the ticker. Communication devices that can use the tickers include personal computers, set top boxes, televisions, landline telephones, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants, laptop computers and any other device that has a display device and is suitably equipped to establish communication with a network.
